This will be my 3rd season with ipilot. In addition to what Long Mike said another nice feature for river fishing is the autopilot, you set the direction and speed, point the bow into the current and go. I have the powerdrive which doesn't have the footpedal but have never had an issue with the remote control. The only time there is an issue with the unit and I wouldn't call it bad, is when the satelite signal is lost. Happens when I go under low concrete bridges. The motor gets a mind of it's own.

scrutch, I agree 100% on the no stress, benies, pension. My trade has bought me a house, a couple trucks and a couple boats. Raider, I may be a contributor to the problem. My son, in college, is taking business/accounting classes. He's not sure what he wants to do, but I've veered him away from what I do. My body is beat to hell and I don't want him to endure the same. Hell, I don't know if I can even do this work to retirement. I've already had 2 surgeries and I'm sure there will be more. Crazy thing is I enjoy it.

Here in Northern IL on my home lake Dec-Feb hard water March-Nov jigs(PB&J), senkos(BLK&BLU) flukes(BLK&Blu) On cooling lakes Spinnerbaits and cranks all season(Shad patterns) On Lake Michigan Anything goes for smallies. When they're on they're on. I've caught my largest on chartruse Mepps spinners with black bucktail. Goby patterns and white on white are also good.

Vocational schools in Chicago tend to cater towards students at the lower end of the spectrum. Kind of a last ditch effort to prevent them from dropping out.(40% never finish school) My aunt was an algebra teacher at a vocational school in Chicago for many years, and when offered early retirement, she jumped at the chance because she was scared to go to work. Says alot about our society. The other issue we have here is the amount of non english speaking people getting into the trades. Many of them with no formal training. Companies that hire such individuals are doing so at low wages and, in many cases, are doing sub-par work, which also gives the trades a bad rep. Another issue which I cannot grasp is why customers alway think we're out to screw them. "You charge $125 an hour?" "Yep" The fact is they charge $20 for a pizza which cost them $2.00 to make, or $10 for 3 fingers of whiskey is ok in their mind. But for me to charge $125 an hour to keep their food fresh and beer cold, so the health dept doesn't close them down and their customers can eat the freshest food possible, is preposterous. The restaurant hires unskilled individuals to preform most of the work, from cooking to cleanng, to serving. They get paid for what they do. I have 15 years experience in my trade and the equiptment manufacturers, and my union have continuing education. My work enviroment involves working in dirt, grease, animal blood, rotten food, extreme heat and extreme cold, rain, snow etc.On call 24 hours a day. I have been injured on the job multiple times. I get paid for what I know, not what I do. Nobody appreciates me :cry4: and our beloved EPA is causing an increase in the cost of doing business.

Yes it's normal practice. Don't forget you'll also want to have the electronics insured as well as a $ amount on the gear in the boat.

It's too windy to fish once it becomes dangerous. Otherwise go for it. Boat control can get frustrating, but the rewards can be worth the aggrivation. In my experience #'s may drop but the quality of the fish increases. I like to throw a spinnerbait, but if you can find a somewhat protected area never discount a jig.

I've been down a similar road 17 years ago. Although I was never able to get sole custody of my son, Myself and my family were able to keep a positive influence in his life. He basically disowned his mother about 5 years ago and has turned out pretty well despite the circumstances. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I have to agree with Wild Bill [NY]. A good lawyer can be your best asset. Also, from what I understand, nowadays the courts aren't as adament about keeping children with their mother as they were in the past. Stay strong.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about a bass boat. Anything that cheap will need alot of work. You should be able to pick up a newer jon boat, many of which now have livewells. Might help if we knew where in the country you live. Someone here might know someone selling. Did you check Craigslist?
