Anyone who mixes anything with whiskey is commiting a mortal sin and should be drinking rum and coke or some other foo foo drink.

Timberlands or Red Wings. I've been wearing boots everyday at work for the last 20 years and these brands are comfortable and last the longest. Now if only they could make a shoelace last as long as the boot....

I remember hearing it, but I always thought it was a derogatory term... It is and I use it all the time.

All kinds. My son says my ipod is f'd. It ranges from Frank and Dino, to Black Sabbath and Alice Cooper, to M.O.D and Slipknot. BTW I never cared for Rush ;D bilgerat I never really got into The Who, but about 15 years ago John Entwistle and Zak Starkey (Ringo Starr's son)made a suprise appearance at a local blues bar here in Chicago. What an amazing talent John was. To see these "big" stars play at a local venue just feet from where you're standing is incredible.

And alot more expensive.

After hearing some responses sounds like 1-3year old boat is the way to go. I'll be hitting up the fishing/boating shows in the next 3-4 weeks to get a first hand look. Thanks for the responses.

I said exactly that to a friend who bought a new Apple. That was in the pre-internet days. Nowadays, every kid is allowed to use a calculator in his/her match class. Look at the ones working as a cashier. Most of them couldn't count out correct change if the register didn't tell them how much. What's just as bad is that those registers need pictures of each item on the keys or touch screen so they can ring them up. I think that's more of a no speeky de english problem.

What options should I be looking for? As far as electronics good stuff on bow and console or can one be better than the other? 24 or 36v on the trolling motor? There are so many different options and everyone claims they make the best boat is what is overwhelming to me. Thanks for the help

When four of Santa's elves got sick, the trainee elves did not produce toys as fast as the regular ones, and Santa began to feel the Pre-Christmas pressure. Then Mrs. Claus told Santa her Mother was coming to visit, which stressed Santa even more. When he went to harness the reindeer, he found that three of them were about to give birth and two others had jumped the fence and were out, Heaven knows where. Then when he began to load the sleigh, one of the floorboards cracked, the toy bag fell to the ground and all the toys were scattered. Frustrated, Santa went in the house for a cup of apple cider and a shot of rum. When he went to the cupboard, he discovered the elves had drunk all the cider and hidden the liquor.. In his frustration, he accidentally dropped the cider jug, and it broke into hundreds of little glass pieces all over the kitchen floor. He went to get the broom and found the mice had eaten all the straw off the end of the broom. Just then the doorbell rang, and an irritated Santa marched to the door, yanked it open, and there stood a little angel with a great big Christmas tree. The angel said very cheerfully, 'Merry Christmas, Santa. Isn't this a lovely day? I have a beautiful tree for you. Where would you like me to stick it?' And so began the tradition of the little angel on top of the Christmas tree. Not a lot of people know this.

bassman018, Not that I don't want to hear it but after fishing out of a fishnski I realized it does neither well. The kids are older and I want to simplify my fishing. The lack of storage, deck space, etc has led me to this decision. Trust me. If I was happy with the boat I'd keep it. I will put Triton on my list for potential boats. I guess what I'm most interested in is the options that I "need" I've been researching the boats' websites and most of the mfgs have similar packages, and warranties. Where can I skimp and where should I go all out? Who has good customer service? I've been looking at the Legend 191alpha and Ranger 191 but don't have any dealers in the area which IMO may be a big issue when it comes to service. Skeeter has a relatively local dealer but I have some reservations from what I've heard about them. If I'm going to drop 40k I want to get my moneys worth. I don't think I'm overthinking this but maybe I am.

I am in the market for my first bass boat. I've been fishing out of a tin 17' fishnski for the last 6 years and will be making my last payment in Jan. Time for an upgrade. Let me start by giving you guys a little background. I primarily fish a river system with numerous small lakes that's about 10,000 acres. Avg. depth 4ft max depth 30ft. On that body of water I fish maybe 7-10 tourneys a year. I also get out on Lake Michigan 6-8 times a year, as well as a # of small lakes. I try to get to KY Lake once a year. Most of my time is spent fishing alone, the tourneys are fished with my son and I take out my dad a few times to fish for whatevers biting. Price range will be 30-40k. I know what I want as far as options but would like to know other "must haves" Boats I have been looking at are Legend, Ranger, Skeeter, and Bass Cat. I'm thinking 19ft dual console, 150-200hp. I don't need to go 80mph. Prefer 2 stroke Merc. Minn Kota TM for sure but can I get by with 24v or do I need 36v? I have a Powerdrive2 Ipilot now which I really like but will I want that option with a Talon or PowerPole? As far as electronics right now I have basic but hear great things about side imaging. Would I want the SI at bow and console? Do I want GPS, chartplotter, lakemaps capabilities? Jackplate??? I have an idea what it is but do I need one? Auto bilge. On board charger. As far as livewells the one in my boat is as basic as it has a fill and a drain, Do I need a pump out option? Blah blah blah. Am I missing any must haves? Will all the brands I mentioned ride well on big water? BTW the tourneys I fish offer bonus bucks from Skeeter and Legend. I appreciate any and all help. Paul

I've learned to keep my mouth shut about $ I spend on fishing equipment and I also keep it spread out in different locations so she doesn't see "the mother load" as a whole. All the while she's doing the same with purses, shoes, and clothes

I got rid of my nagging wife. 8-) You could be spending that money on drugs. Better it's spent on fishing gear. Spend it now while you're able. In a few years when you get out into the world and have a mortgage, car payment, family, etc., the BPS $30 combos is what you'll be fishing with. "Do I buy baby formula or a Steez?" I think they moved the gas fillers about the same time the onslaught of downsized front wheel drive cars started. Last car I owned with the filler behind the license plate was an '85 Cutlass. Remember the Cadillac Cimmaron. A Chevy Cavalier with bling ;D

If your intent for the day is to learn a new lure/technique and not to catch 100 fish on senkos, then who cares. Write those off as practice days. If your intent is to catch 100 fish or you're fishing for money, then it's time to break out the tried and true baits. If one has the luxury ;D to own a bass boat you can have a bunch of rods set up with different presentations and if tried and true isn't producing one can change with little effort.(I have an aluminum fishnski and lack that luxury :'() I always try something different on most every outing but I'll fish 1/2 hour here, 1/2 hour there. Many of us, including me, are OBLIVIOUS to the fact that BASS and FLW and all the smaller clubs gain their fan base thru marketing. The "highlights" that are televised are mere moments in KVD's, Skeet's, or Ike's day. Each pro has their own baits/techniques that they use. They are all not using the same lures, rods, reels, etc., but they all catch fish(well most of them). Whose to say one is better than another. It comes down to "What works for me on any particular day at a particular time, under particular conditions.""What do the fish want"

New Balance. My feet are flat and wide and I have screws in one ankle that causes my heel to wear akwardly. The New Balance fit comfortably and my feet aren't fatigued at the end of the day.

I saw an interview with his wife. She claimed he was an excellent marksman and missed on purpose. Sounds like his wife is just as crazy as him. You could be right PANAMA CITY, Fla. Clay Duke was a troubled, broke ex-con with bipolar disorder, an interest in anarchy, a wife whose unemployment benefits had run out and frustrations that reached their boiling point on a day circled on his calendar at home. The burly 56-year-old held a Florida school board at gunpoint Tuesday, saying he was prepared to die. He fired at board members, missing them by inches, then killed himself after exchanging gunfire with a security guard. Duke's wife said Wednesday he was an excellent marksman and probably missed the five board members sitting steps away on purpose. One board member even crept up from behind and hit Duke with her purse but he only called her a name and didn't shoot. "He didn't want anyone to get hurt but himself," Rebecca Duke said of the man she loved. She called him a "gentle giant." "The economy and the world just got the better of him," she said. In the moments prior to the shooting, Duke spray painted a circle and a large, red V inside of it on the meeting room wall and muttered about rising taxes and how his wife was fired from the school district. The school superintendent begged Duke not to shoot, but he did. No one but Duke was injured; a school security guard fired several shots and hit Duke three times in the back. In the end, Duke took his own life by shooting himself in the head. Police said the attack wasn't some spur of the moment idea. At his mobile home in the woods, they found Dec. 14 circled on a calendar. And police said he had at least 25 more rounds of ammunition in his pocket. The entire shooting was captured by local television stations, and the video was posted on the Internet and broadcast on TV throughout the day. His Facebook page, which was public until late Wednesday afternoon, revealed a man who was fascinated with the movie "V for Vendetta" which depicts the same symbol that Duke spray painted onto the wall just before he took out his gun. As board members gave television interviews about the harrowing experience, a sad and troubling portrait of Duke emerged. Born in Ocala, Fla., Duke graduated from high school in Tampa. Little is known about his early adult years family members claimed he was in the Air Force for eight years, but that could not be confirmed. In the mid-1990s, Duke had drifted to the Florida Panhandle not the spring break-filled sugar sand beaches, but the remote and wooded inland. The '90s were a blur of court hearings and personal conflicts. He divorced a woman named Anita in 1995 and at some point, had a daughter. He was sued by a property management company in 1999. In 2000, he was convicted for waiting in the woods for his ex-wife with a rifle, wearing a mask and a bulletproof vest. She confronted him and then tried to leave in a vehicle, and Duke shot the tires. His second wife, Rebecca, said the incident was a misunderstanding and that he went to his ex-wife's house because the ex-wife "wouldn't leave them alone." Duke's attorney on the case, Ben Bollinger, remembered Duke as especially paranoid about the new millennium. "He was one of these Y2k people," he said, referring to a computer bug that some people thought was going to cause massive problems and economic chaos Jan. 1, 2000. "He was one of those believers that the world was going to turn for worst and he was stockpiling weapons, assault weapons." Bollinger said Duke took a plea agreement: Five years in prison followed by 10 years probation. A judge relieved him of the probation obligations in January after Duke said he was unemployed and his wife might soon be. He said he was looking to move to a better place to find a job, according to court documents posted on the Smoking Gun website. He also sought psychiatric help and took his medications as ordered and completed his probation, his lawyer said. "He was competent but he was one of those people had a mood disorder where they could be depressed one day and all excited another day. I just remember the doctor saying he had a personality disorder," Bollinger recalled. While in prison, Duke filed for bankruptcy. He was released in January 2004. About a year later, he sued the Social Security Administration, which had denied his application for disability benefits and health insurance. "He couldn't work. He just mentally couldn't make the connection for eight hours a day," said David Evans, the attorney who represented Duke. Evans said Duke had been diagnosed by several doctors as bipolar, but didn't have enough money to buy the needed medication. "He was clearly in need of help," Evans said. They filed at least five appeals to the denials. "The judges adjudicating the claims didn't feel the claim was significant enough," Evans said. "All he was asking for was $500 or $600 a month and medical insurance." Duke withdrew the suit in 2006. He and Rebecca had married in 1999, just before his prison sentence. She said Wednesday that Duke faithfully took his medication for his bipolar disorder, but that he was under a lot of stress she had been fired from the school district and her final unemployment check was due this week. Tommye Lou Richardson, the executive director of human resources for the Bay District, said Rebecca Duke was hired in September 2009 as a primary school teacher for students with special needs. She was given a 97-day probationary period, and was terminated. "She was not performing appropriately, we thought, the principal thought, and so she was let go," Richardson said. She wasn't able to go into any further detail. Richardson said Rebecca Duke had "indicated that she felt like there was a violation of her employment rights," though she never filed a lawsuit. About a week ago, Clay Duke joined Facebook. Over the past several days, he added photo stills from the movie and graphic novel "V for Vendetta," a nihilistic account of a masked man who fights against a totalitarian government. The movie's predominant symbol a red "V" inside of a circle was posted several times on Duke's page. He also quoted the final passage from Percy Shelley's "Masque of Anarchy": "Rise like lions after slumber/In unvanquishable number/Shake your chains to earth, like dew/Which in sleep had fall'n on you/Ye are many-they are few." Duke had no Facebook friendsWhy doesn't this suprise me although by Wednesday afternoon, thousands of people responded to his earlier postings, many of them critical of Tuesday's shooting. Others were more sympathetic, saying that Duke was driven to madness because of the difficult economy. Duke had written something of a suicide note in his "About Me" section: "My testament: Some people (the government sponsored media) will say I was evil, a monster (V) ... no ... I was just born poor in a country where the Wealthy manipulate, use, abuse, and economically enslave 95 percent of the population. Rich Republicans, Rich Democrats ... same-same ... rich ... they take turns fleecing us ... our few dollars ... pyramiding the wealth for themselves."
