The leader doesnt need to be heavier lb test than the braid. Just a larger diameter. For soft plastics I use 20lb Power Pro with an 8-10lb leader. The only reason I can think of using a heavier leader is if your fishing heavy cover, but if that was the case tieing direct would be the way to go.

And if anyone has seen Ike or KVD give a seminar you'll understand that these guys live to fish. The amount of fishing knowledge these "superstars" possess is incredible. There is no substitute for experience. My 20 year old son also wants to be a pro. OK fine. When it comes to taking every step to become that pro he's a little lazy. I can't count the # of times I hear "Dad, we need sponsors." My response to him is "We need to spend more time on the water. Just being 'in the money' isn't going to cut it. We need to win." It's just an immature mentality and I don't mean that in a derogatary way. He sees a guy we compete against with a 300hp Gambler wrapped and sponsored and wants to be that guy. Well that guy places all the time. It's not the boat that catches fish it's the experience with a little luck thrown in.

Do you have at&t u-verse in your area? I switched to them 6 months ago with no complaints and they have some real good incentives with no contract. It's my understanding that direct tv requires signing a contract.

You have way too many spinnerbaits. What you need to do is keep 1 tied to the line, 1 extra in the bag and send me the rest. The CD holder looks like a good idea.

Hard jerkbaits and buzzbaits don't seem to work for me. The issue becomes the lack of time using and mastering these baits. Flukes and suspending cranks I do well on but can't catch one on a hard jerkbait. As far as buzzbaits I can never get them to run right and would much rather use a jitterbug or a frog for topwater.

You never know. I never thought I'd own a handgun unless I moved out of the city. Now I own 2 handguns. Also, not to be political but it's well known that Mayor Daley has been one of the biggest opponents of guns and concealed carry. It's possible with him leaving Chicago that concealed carry could be a reality. Maybe if Brady had got in. I wouldn't get your hopes up. As far as where I keep my guns. I have them hidden in every room. And no I haven't had a situation where I've needed to use one. But you never know.
