  1. My first to lures. One is a popper and the other is a med. diving crank (I think...hasn't been tested). With the popper i just went with a basic black top and grey body with a little red on the lip. On the crank I was goin for a bass kinda scheme. Getting the lip into the crank body was the most difficult thing to be done. The line tie was tricky getting into the channel I made below the lip slot, and because I don't have perfect steady hands, it was a bit off center. I dont own many cranks or poppers (1 popper, and 2 crankbaits) and I thought making my own would be a good way to get started on my collection ;D. Still gotta Put the last epoxy coat on and will be doing that tonight, and one more tomorrow. Any, constructive criticism is welcomed! On a side note, where can i get some basswood blocks? 2" tall, 1" wide, and at least 3" long.
  2. very clean looking. How do you make the slit for the lip to go in? I'm Using a circular cutting bit for my dremel but it is difficult to cut a slit that is level and even.
  3. Ive got a blue/black booyah with one big colorado blade, black jitter bug. thats about it.
  4. ya, it is wooden, and i don't have the line tie in it yet. I have a sander piece that is cylindrical, would that work?
  5. I ordered popper shaped lure from jannsnetcraft and i see there is no cup in the lip. How do i go about getting the cup to make the popping sound?
  6. That's it...I'm moving to Japan.
  7. Can't go wrong with a bucktail spinner or spinnerbait.
  8. X2 Try slowing down or downsizing you lures. Also, a splitshot rig. It is AMAZING.
  9. I don't have a job and I'm only 17 so most of my money is from birthdays, and Christmas. The economy doesn't really affect fishing atm. The biggest factor has been the weather. It has been an extremely humid summer, and it is just uncomfortable to go. Lately though the humidity has been a lot lower (along with slightly lower temps) and I've been fishing more. Whether driving to somewhere for shore fishing, or going out on the boat.
  10. Nice mod! I dont have any buzzbaits with a clacker, but then again i only got 2. not walmart ones. I see you do the bead trick to lol.
  11. There was another vid on youtube, where he was letting people out of the bus and he could be clearly seen by all, and no shots wer taken or anything. Then the shotter looked out of a window for like 8 seconds and nothing was done. That on swat guy accidentally threw his hammer into the bus and reached in and got it back. JEEZ! A group of 9th graders could do better!
  12. Usually i just swing em up and lip them while in the air. If i can though, i'll lip them while they are still in the water, but since my canal has a seawall that is about 3 feet higher than the water, it's is not always possible lol. The only place i use a net is in my backyard and on a boat where im not really walking around. Otherwise, i don't feel like carrying a net when im beating the banks.
  13. Awesome. "I need it." "Looks like it would work..."
  14. Whats with the guy just to the left of the bull, that face is awesome!
  15. Sheesh, thought it was just me!
  16. WELCOME! Wow, South Africa! That is quite a bit away lol! I didn't even know bass were in South Africa. Anyways, you will learn so much from this site. The community is the best and the fishing articles here are detailed and informative. Don't be shy, post some questions ;D!
  17. I never done this before and i was wondering how you paint a lure without an airbrush? just some regular paint from the craft store? Also, when im done shaping the lure how do i seal it? Lastly, I bought some devcon 2 ton 2part epoxy. Do i just mix it in a bowl and paint it on the lure, let dry and bam im done?
  18. Dang dude, those paint jobs are clean!
  19. The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad. ~A.K. Best The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing. ~Babylonian Proverb There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process. ~Paul O'Neil, 1965 I love fishing. You put that line in the water and you don't know what's on the other end. Your imagination is under there. ~Robert Altman
  20. The experiment really doesn't do anything to prove the point. On taught line, nobody slowly sets the hook. Or slack line for that matter.
