BFS: Line Choice Isn't a Simple Thing to Figure Out
I think I know why the braided line dig in the spool. Seems like you are spooling braided line to max spool amount. Don't spool the braid to the max, but 1/2 to 3/4 spooled. I had the same issue with my Curado BFS reel and from a BFS FB site found out that less is more when it comes to spooling with braided line. I've used 15 lb Power Pro and 10 lb Power Pro in original and Super8Slick, 8 strand. and Bass Pro Shops XPS 8 strand. I do notice that the the 8 strand braid is quieter when reeling in than original Power Pro 4 strand.

Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51 Decal Kit
Alonerankin2, yes I'll be using the stealthy Aldeberan MGL 51 this coming week.

Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51 Decal Kit
I bought a used Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51, 6.5:1 a few weeks ago. It did have a few scratches on the frame and it bothered me. I asked about decals for the Aldeberan MGL 51 and Wanee's was suggested for casting reel decals. I contacted Wanee's and saw they still had the graphite design decal for the Aldeberan MGL 51. Had time today to apply the Wanee's decal this afternoon. Took my time to prep the reel, wiped down with 90% rubbing alcohol and then apply the decals to the correct areas on the reel. The outcome after applying turned out better than I thought. The kit did have a diagram to follow and actual pics of where the decals were to be placed and that helped big time. Instructions mentioned to wait 24 hours to use the reel. So I'll be giving it a few days for the decals to cure and hold onto the surface of the Aldeberan MGL 51. Now the Aldeberan MGL 51 looks great and feels great with the decal installation. Doesn't seem to have added extra weight to the reel, that's good! Also the graphite handle and EVA knobs that I replaced the stock handle, looks perfect and matches the decal kit. Now, if I can find a drag clicker for the Aldeberan MGL 51...

What's The Advantage Of A Paint Brush Tail On A Swimbait?
Starting to see this type of tail on Swimbaits from inexpensive to pricey SB's. Besides the price being jacked up for I guess a custom look, what is the advantage? I don't care for that type of tail cuz I would need to store the SB in a way not to damage or bend the paint brush tail.

Bates Hundo, The Real Solid Deal
Thank you!

Bates Hundo
Thanks Bates, the Hundo is a Legit baitcaster! Beyond happy with my purchase! Do you or will you offer options for different reel handles and or grips? Not a fan of the grips on the Hundo.

Bates Hundo, The Real Solid Deal
JN94, ya I'm not a fan of the grip handles myself. I'm hoping Bates comes out with other handle and grip options. Lightest I've casted with the Bates is 3/8oz lures. I have 30lb Power Pro Super8Slick braid spooled. I also own the Loongze Airlite BFS B101 round reel. The spools on both reels are interchangeable, so can I am going to try to use the Hundo for BFS fishing soon.

Bates Hundo, The Real Solid Deal
I had the Hundo for a couple months now and used it a few times. This reel is 5oz and even though it's new to the baitcast game, it's a solid performer. It's smooth like butta and has all the bells and whistles like 1 piece bar stock aluminum frame, magnetic and inner braking, also a drag clicker. Casted around with a Spro Baby Fat John 50 shallow crankbait. Did a cast and felt a THUMP! First I thought I snagged the bottom, but then I felt head shaking and realized it's a bass. I have to say, that bass hit the crankbait like a freight train! Set the hook and bass took off for deeper water, the Hundo's drag clicker was a screamin'! Fought the bass and it kept pulling line, finally got it close to shore and saw it was a big bass. Horsed her in and my heart was a thumpin'! She a big-un and beautiful! Been using the Hundo for a few times, got the feel for the reel and it kicks butt fighting that bass. That is one solid baistcaster! That bass is the first bass caught on the Hundo, what a great way to break in that reel! Took my pics, weighed her and she tipped at 6 1/2lbs. Biggest bass caught so far this year. I released her and she swam off, a bit tired though. I realized she's a prego female and I have to tell you, she wore me out. Oh, that sounded nasty 😯😳🤭🤭🤭

Berkley Nessie 5" Question
Hi Volfan, ah ok, I see where you're getting at. I'll give it a shot. Thank you

Berkley Nessie 5" Question
Bought a couple of the Nessie 5" in a couple colors for power BFS fishing. I haven't used them yet, but I hear they are slow sinking. I'd like to rig one up to sink just a bit faster and thinking of using a 1/16oz tungsten nail weight. Where I'm perplexed with the nail weight is the location I should insert nail weight. I'd prefer a nose down or horizontal fall, just not sure on the Nessie 5" body to place the nail weight. Any ideas or thoughts on this dilemma?

BFS Fishing Keepers 😉🤭
I've had the double Mcfish fillets before when McD's first introduced them a few years ago. I have to say, I really liked the double Mcfish, more to bite in and all that oil...😉 I can't afford a double Mcfish these days, even if it's a secret menu item. I'd have to mortgage my house and sell my wife to get one. Or was it mortgage my wife and sell the house?😉😁😄😄😄

Bass Pro Shops Irvine, CA Grand Opening 3/27/24
Never been to any grand opening for anything, so I've been anticipating Bass Pro Shops opening in Orange County, CA. Before the new Bass Pro Shops opened, the closest one to me was an hour away. I arrived 3 hours before the grand opening and ribbon cutting at 6:30pm. So glad I did, I was only less than a 100' from the entrance. So, I was one of the first 50 people to get inside the new store. There was a huge crowd behind me prior to opening. Bass Pro Shops and Johnny Morris did an outstanding job with the inside. This used to be a super Walmart. It's not as big a store as the Rancho Cucamonga, CA Bass Pro Shops; but what space they had, they used adequately, IMO. I'm bringing my wife back to Bass Pro Shops Irvine this weekend so she can see the store, and for me to see what I missed not seeing. By the evening, it was beyond crowded inside with so much body heat, ick. The line to the cashiers to pay was way long, it went to the back end of the store! I had the opportunity to meet some current Bass pro's and legends. Shook their hands and had selfies taken . Met Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, Skeet Reese, Chris Zaldain and Josh Bertrand. All the guys were cool to talk to and all down to earth dudes. Check out the great white shark: I don't want to brag or anything...but I think my mouth is bigger!🦈🫨🫨🫨 I reckon power BFS setup with a Megabass X-80 JR BFS jerkbait oughta get this guppy's interest.🦈😁 And... Leaving Bass Pro Shops, well looky who I ran into, walking out of Bass Pro Shops Irvine, at night... The Jack Links beef jerky - BIGFOOT🦶 😯🫨🫨🫨 He said he likes BFS fishing 🎣 I gotta say that was a fun experience and worth waiting 3 hours. Met some nice people in the crowd and talked about fishing and hunting and loads of laughs!

Used Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51 - Questions
I picked up a used Shimano Aldeberan MGL 51. It's used, but the braking is different, see pics. I've not seen this before the braking. It has 12 extra strong magnets that I pulled off for now. Previous owner from what I learned modded it to this braking. I pulled off the extra 12 magnets and just the magnets that are on there. Checking out the reel, seems all to be working great, only seems external cosmetics with scratches. Turning the handle all seems smooth. Anyone in the U.S. airbrush reels? I may look into doing that. It's not a shallow BFS spool, just It's stock spool. I'd like to ask you, what pound braid line should I use?

Good Find - Majorcraft Benkei BFS casting Rod.
Thanks Junger that's what it was the locking nut. I'll be sure not to over tighten when I have a reel on the Benkei

Good Find - Majorcraft Benkei BFS casting Rod.
Check it out, got a Majorcraft Benkei BFS 6'5" UL, 1/32oz to 1/4oz lure wt, 3-10lb line. Local tackle store takes trade ins and this was there, it's used. Found out from owner it was traded in yesterday. Only thing it does not have is the case, he had a Megabass Levante case that was also traded in. He asked if I wanted that, I declined. Rod retails for $138, it was marked at $89.99. He sold to me for $80. I totally checked out this used rod and there is nothing wrong with it, almost pristine. Blank is straight and guides are perfect straight with all inserts on guides. No nicks or anything weird. Always wanted the Benkei BFS rod. Nearly got one last year but held off. I don't normally buy used rods, but I had the chance to really check it out, like I would do when I buy a rod from a store. Owners of the Benkei, have you heard of a problem with reel seat stripping and becomes unusable? I have my 22 Shimano Aldeberan BFS mounted on the Benkei(The Calcutta Conquest BFS in the pic was for inital reel mounting on Benkei rod). Going to test the rod after work. I think it should cast 1/16oz on up lures.

Expride BFS EXC68LBFSB
Ok now I know what you mean. I reckon it's the current model and TW sells the one piece blanks. 2 piece Expride BFS are from overseas. I've not heard of a new model of Expride for 2024. I've held the Expride BFS 1 piece and it is all one blank and not a 2 piece glued.

Expride BFS EXC68LBFSB
New rod?

Expride BFS EXC68LBFSB
TW says backordered till May 15. I'm waiting myself for same rod to go with Calcutta Conquest BFS reel.

Avail Spools
Hi new2BC4bass, I casted 1/8oz lures in spoons, inline spinners and crankbaits. I reckon it can cast 1/16oz, I didn't throw that low, but I think I will this weekend. 1/8oz and up lures casted great and used 1 brake block on and 3 off.
-
Avail Spools
In regards to centrifugal braking, I was hesitant at first. Then after getting the Avail spool for the Curado 51E, it is just as efficient in braking as mag braking.
