  1. Thank you DVT! What light bearing oil do you suggest that's easily available to get?
  2. I just received my 22 Aldeberan BFS yesterday and was surprised there were neither the reel oil or BFS bearing oil included. I saw some YouTube vids on unboxing of this reel and to my surprise again, no oil are supplied. Also saw some unboxing of the 23 Conquest BFS and again, no oils included. WHY???!!! How is a buyer of either reel suppose to lube their reel? I know aftermarket oils are available, but I don't have a clue what a good BFS bearing oil would be. When I bought the Curado BFS a couple years ago, both oils were included. So buying a newer JDM BFS reel from Japan, you plainly just get the reel, for exorbitant prices?
  3. Thanks y'all! I went with Power Pro Super Slick 8 V2 in 10 lb, 2 lb diameter lime/aqua green color. Broke in the new Aldeberan BFS reel this evening, mounted on my Phenix Classic BFS 6'8" rod. The new Aldebaran BFS reel did a great job fighting and reeling in both bass. The drag clicker was singing away as line was pulled from those bass. I think I prefer having a drag clicker for BFS reels. Caught a couple bass with a BPS The Egg, running just under the surface over grass. The PP Super Slick 8 V2 line is wonderful! Very smooth and quiet through the guides and just as strong and no stretch as original PP. Very happy with my braid choice. I may get 12lb Sunline Siglon in orange sometime soon for backup.
  4. Thank you for the pics. Besides some differences, the 2 reels are identical in frame. Ya, I'll sit tight on thr Alpha SV TW.
  5. I have a 22 Aldeberan BFS on order from Japan. I normally use 15 lb, 4 lb diameter Power Pro original on most of of my BFS reels. In regards to the 22 Aldeberan BFS, am I able to still use the same braid line I've been always used? Or is there a braid line and line weight that would work better than what I am using for that reel?
  6. Thank you for the reply FrnkNsteen. You saved me from spending unnecessarily. The differences you said doesn't justify another Daiwa reel at this time. Thank you
  7. I do own the Tatula SV TW 70 in left hand. Just curious if the Alpha SV TW 800 use the same frame as the SV TW 70, or are they 2 different reels. Since having the SV TW 70, not sure if adding a SV TW 800 in left hand will be beneficial if both reels are very similar but with differences.
  8. JNorman, I like the Curado ML rod. I have to say it is not very BFS type of rod. Yes it will cast 3/16oz lures. The upper end is more stiff than what I would think a medium light action rod would be. I bought during TW's Labor Day sale the 13 Fishing Muse Black 6'10" ML. Rated at 1/8-3/8oz. This rod to me is more ML for sure. I can easily cast lighter lures with this rod. I'll keep the Curado ML rod and just figure out how I'll be using it.
  9. Can someone post a pic of a ferrule and spigot connection please? To me I can't tell the difference.
  10. Most BFS rods are 2 piece and some are 3 piece rods, why? I know some are 1 piece rods like the Phenix Classic BFS and Dobyns Ultra Finesse Sierra rods. I do prefer 1 piece rods, cuz I feel that the rod has better sensitivity than multiple piece rods. Case in point, I do own a couple of the Phenix Classic BFS rods in 6'8" and 7"1". Even the smallest crankbait, like the Rapala Countdown CD1 which is 1/16oz; I can feel the vibration of the lure quite well. Most times I use straight 10 or 15lb braid, but during trout season I will use 4lb Izorline XXX copoly line. I have to say that on some of the 2 piece BFS rods I own, I can feel the vibration too, but not quite as sensitive as as a 1 piece. Are multi piece BFS rods more so for transportation or is it a JDM thing?
  11. I pulled the trigger and have one on order, left hand XG model. Brand new for $293, finally the price is under $300 from Amazon. I do have quite a few BFS rods, with having the Phenix Feather 7'1" Light, Classic BFS casting rods in 6'8" and 7'1". What BFS rod for all around BFS fishing would you think go well with the Aldebaran BFS? I'm actually thinking of the Shimano Expride B, 6'3" Light.
  12. I have never caught a caught a human. Nevermind, I've hooked someone else before.
  13. I don't like the concept. I like the reel
  14. replace the zero adjust tensioner that is stock on the TW SV 70. It's a bit hard to get a grip to turn it, so I thought if there is a drag tensioner that would fit and work with the SV 70.
  15. I'd like to replace said knob on my SV 70 TW, left hand. Is there an aftermarket left hand spool tensioner knob that will work with this reel?

Megabass Pop Max and Pop X, also the Baby Pop X. I switch out both trebles with Owner ST-36 with eh reat with ST-36 treble hook. I'm experimenting with the Pop X front treble hook. Trying to find a Short shank treble that doesn't foul up as much
  17. I do. The drag washers will get compressed I'd left tight.
  18. I have a couple and used numerous times, but have not caught a bass on it. I did have a bass blow up on it once, but popped it up in the air. I wonder if bass are scared of hitting it...???
  19. I picked up a Bass Pro Shops, Offshore Angler 1 1/4oz popper. It casts far, just haven't caught a bass on it yet, I've only used it for a few hours the other day.
  20. Yo Islandbass, it's yours if you head on over to my crib. The address is: Ghost 1313 Mockingbird Lane ???
  21. SHAWEET!!! I reckon them are twins and were separated at birth.????
  22. Birthday presents to me!
  23. I still have a couple in tiger red color. Those go back to the 80's
  24. I have the 7' Heavy. I consider this as an all around rod. The weight rating for it is misleading. I did compare to a MH, which felt more like a medium action to me. The heavy action is more to me a medium heavy with a wider range for lure weight. I've casted lure just above 1 oz and it casted them well. Also lure around 3/8oz and above. I do own the Feather in 7'1" Light and as mentioned in heavy. Wait a couple more weeks when TW has their 15% off sale.
