  1. Anyone besides me think of that movie, The Children of the Corn? Fog...bad.
  2. Hella Bread, No Way! I want to buy this round BFS CDM reel and it's the same company that makes the Hundo! Check this out:
  3. Bulldog1935, one of my friends asked me to order this pistol grip when I placed the order for the Lurekiller pistol grip rod I got. He wants a Pagani but didn't want to spend that much. Not sure which ultralight rod blank he's going to have built for the pistol grip pictured.
  4. Lurekiller 4'6" ultralight casting rod. I reckon for stream trout fishing. It's 3 piece, also a 4 piece model is available. There's also 2 spinning models available. The 4 piece casting and spinning rods have a darker colored wooden pistol grip. I didn't want a 4 piece, just too many pieces for something to go wrong. Kinda wished they had a 2 piece available. But I guess for better transportability, the 3 and 4 piece rods would be better. It took almost a month to get this rod to the U.S. I guess customs got a bit worried with the wooden pistol grip. The cardboard tube did arrive bent and cracked...I was worried when my wife sent me the pic of the shipping tube. It did have a rod (I think) felt sock that the rod came in. When I took the rod out, it was intact and survived the shipment It's a shorty casting rod and quality looks good. Even the blank is quite straight. It is very light and the blank is x cross carbon blank. I did notice it's not that sensitive but I think it might be due to the wooden handle. The rod has 8 Fuji K guides and solid graphite tip. The guides from 4th guide up look like micro guides, not sure if I can use 10lb braid to 4lb flouro leader. I mounted my CDM Sabre round BFS reel and my Kastking Valiant Eagle low profile BFS reel on the rod. Both feels good on the rod with the Valiant Eagle making the whole package lighter. Also both reels match up to the rod and looks great with either reel. Can't wait to try this rod out over the weekend amd use 1/16oz(1.77 g) to 1/4 oz(7 g) ultralight lures. Lure weight rating for the rod is 2-7 g. I took it to the front yard and did some side casts with a 1/4 oz practice weight. It's easy to roll cast. If one thing I wish the rod had is, I wish the wooden pistol grip handle was a bit thicker. It's nice to hold but I think it should just be a bit thicker to get a better grip. But then making the handle thicker may make the rod heavier in the butt section. I guess it's a trade off. Now I just need to find a stream close to me in SoCal...

My favorite and best shallow crankbait is the XPS The Egg. Comes in 2 sizes and just flat out catches fish. I've used them as a wake bait and just under the surface. Unfortunately, I think BPS discontinued this lure. It was on clearance for $2.97 and I bought about a dozen for back ups in both sizes. I do hope BPS bring back the The Egg.
  6. Can any glide bait or swimbait use the chop technique? I know that the Spro KGB Chad Shad that the chop retrieve is made for this glide bait. I do have quite a few glide baits, R2S S-Waver, Baitsanity Antidote, Savage Gear Glide Swimmer and Ima Glide Fluke. Can I use chop retrieve with any of these glides?
  7. Hey FishTank, the Expride BFS rod would work for me. I hardly cast anything lower than 1/8oz.
  8. Hey Darth, I'm actually talking about the bearing oil that was included when I bought the Curado BFS reel a couple years ago. The Shimano reel oil was also included.
  9. FishTank, does the magnetic brake dial click when turned?
  10. Hi, Can you confirm for me please, the magnetic brake dial; is it suppose to click or not click when its turned. I know the star drag and spool tension knob clicks. That's odd that the magentic brake dial doesn't click to show/feel the braking is to get stronger.
  11. Got the Shimano Conquest BFS reel, arrived in the mail yesterday! It's beautiful! It's lighter than I thought, not as light as the Shimano Aldeberan BFS or Kastking Kestrel Elite BFS reels, but for a small round reel it's light. It sits lower on a reel seat than I first thought. The weight of the Conquest BFS is 6 3/4oz on my analog scale. Only thing I noticed odd about the reel is the dial for the magnetic brake does not have a clicker. The star drag and spool tension knob both have clickers. I hope this is normal since the brake dial does not have dots on it to show where a click should go. The dial area only has a min and max setting with a white dot in the middle back of the min-max settings. I have a Chinese(CDM) almost similar to the Conquest BFS reel, the Sabre JKS 51 and I compared both. They seem to be close to the same height and the Conquest BFS feels lighter. Obviously the Sabre is not has smooth or finely tuned as the Conquest BFS. I compared both in thr pics. Spooled the Conquest BFS with Sunline Siglon braided line in 12lb, 2lb diameter mono. Option B would have been Power Pro Super8Slick in 10 lbs, lime green color. The reel pairs perfectly on the Phenix Classic BFS 6'8" casting rod. I'm sure it will feel good to handle on the Dobyns Sierra Ultra Finesse 6'9" casting rod too. I'm hoping to eventually get the Shimano Expride 6'8" BFS rod sometime soon for the Conquest BFS. That would be a perfect match in my opinion. I will have a couple Gomexus carbon handle to order for the Conquest BFS and Aldeberan BFS reels. Both have 80mm handles and the new carbon Gomexus handles will be 85mm handle length. To me, this is art meets functionality
  12. Thanks guys, I'll be ordering Boca bearing oil.
  13. Noticed that TW sells bearing oil as well as reel oils. The bearings oils they have are: 1. Ardent reel bearing lube 2. Boca bearing oil lightning high seed bearing lube 3. Lew's hyperspeed bearing lubricant Is one better than the other? I'm trying to find one that is similar to the Shimano bearing oil that was supplied with my Curado BFS reel. Or will a reel oil like the Quantum Hot Sauce work on bearingdls as well, especially BFS reel bearings? I've used Quantum Hot Sauce oil for years on my reels and bearings. Not sure if BFS reels like the Aldeberan BFS and Conquest BFS need a different type of bearing oil than reel oil.
  14. FishTank, nice reel! My Conquest BFS XG arrives this coming Monday. Those rods you mentioned I have no idea about them. I'm hoping to get the Shimano Expride 6'8" Light casting rod sometime soon to use with the Conquest BFS and the 23 Aldebaran BFS.
  15. Ah bad news buddy. St Croix isn't part of the TW 20%, I just checked the list I saved.
  16. Big Swimbait, look at the Phenix Classic BFS rod. Very well worth the money. Or wait till TW black Friday sale and get it for 20% off plus free ship.
  17. I have both the SLX MGL 70 and SLX XT 150 in ledt hand. It's the same sized framed reels, just different spools. I can attest to this cuz I switched spools on both reel. The SLX XT 150 fit and works with the SLX MGL 70 spool. And same with the SLX MGL 70 fit and works with the SLX XT 150 spool. Now with the regular SLX 150, I don't know if the spools are interchangeable, cuz I don't own the SLX 150. Also, the SLX 150 has 6 brake blocks and no external dial to fine tune like you can with the other SLX models mentioned. Also the SLX XT and SLX MGL 70 spools have 4 brake blocks and external dial. BTW, both the SLX MGL 70 and SLX XT 150 are excellent reels in casting, retrieving and fighting fish.
  18. The Conquest BFS is shipping and I should have it by this Friday 🤞 Looking to next year to get a 17 Conquest BFS and a 16 Aldeberan BFS . I'm hoping before the end of the year to purchase a Shimano Expride 6'8", 1 piece Light casting rod for the Conquest BFS reel. Till them, I'll use my 2 Phenix Classic BFS casting rods.
  19. Anyone tried or own this handle? I'm wondering mote about the grips. If the material is spongy or more firm, like some OEM grips from Shimano and Daiwa.
  20. After much deliberation and flipping the proverbial coin in my mind(heads won)... And patiently waiting for a real good price... The Holy grail of BFS reels. 🎣
  21. Waiting for TW to get the left hand Hundo in. I'd like to get one during black Friday sale. I thought Bates reels were made in the U.S.
  22. Yes, Irod will be on sale at TW black Friday sale.
  23. Fishdishy, I weighed my Phenix Classic BFS 6'8" casting rod on my analog scale. The rod weighs 2 3/4oz or 77.96g. I then weighed the Classic BFS rod 6'8" rod with my Shimano Aldebaran BFS XG with line. Total weight was 7 1/4oz or 205.5g. This past February, a local fishing shop weighed the said rod with a Kastking Kestrel Elite BFS reel with line. The weight of both was 7oz or 198.4g
  24. What is the frame material of the 23 Aldebaran BFS? I see some sites say it's magnesium and others say it's Hagane. Which material is being used?
  25. I don't like the new TW website. Nuff said.
