  1. I've caught bass on Spook type lures before. But this it the 1st year that It has been my go to lure. Started over the summer using a Zara Spook Puppy in chrome/black and catching quite a few small bass. Then a month ago at a park lake, caught a bass on a a regular sized Spook. Agressive too, bass hit the lure, missed the lure and came back and hit it again. Then today, using a clear Spook JR, caught a nice sized bass. That was the coolest one caught on a Spook. I worked the lure and saw a blowup, bass missed the lure. I stopped it and did 3 turns of the lure and a bigger blowup with bass hooked. It started peeling line, I'm thinking good bass. I was not disappointed, landed that bass with it's mate trailing behind. So cool seeing a topwater bite...now if I can just even get an attention from a bass on either the 130 or 90 Whooper Plopper...
  2. From Daiwa U.S. site: TYPE-R HYPER SPEED LEFT HAND WINDING BAITCASTING REELS Model Number Action FW / SW Bearings Gear Ratio Line Per Handle Turn Wt. (oz.) Line Capacity (Lb. Test / Yards) Drag Max TATULA-R100XSL M / L 2CRBB, 5BB, 1RB 8.1:1 33.9 7.6 MONO: 14/120, 16/100 BRAID: 40/140, 55/105 13.2
  3. I used 40lb braid, gonna drop down to 30lb braid, see if that helps keep the nose up on the 90
  4. I read that it has a tendency to spin when reeled in and adding a swivel helps with line twist. I've only used my 90 ad 130 at night so far, so I really can't see if it spins even some when reeled in. The 90 is do notice submerge when I start reeling. I have the rod tip high and I have to pop it at times to bring it to the surface. I think that's I he rent with the 90.
  5. Don't recall where I read this on this site, but does this help that it keeps the WP from spinning while reeled in? Any idea if this will help with the 90 from submerging?
  6. I just got that lure in Party Crasher. Looks like it would imitate a shad or lite rainbow trout. I think that's a good start, I do want to pick up one more. How well does the smaller 130 swim?
  7. It's the same frame as the regular size Tatula minus the T-wing?
  8. I'm thinking of using 6 lb Fireline which is equivalent of 2 lb mono on a Pflueger President 25LE. I haven't used Fireline, will this line be good to throw 1/16oz and up lures, like small crankbaits, topwater and worms, also Ned Rig? Fireline just seems a bit stiff even that small 6lb line. What are your thoughts?
  9. I'm picking up one of these, I've been eyeing one for quite a while and a local fishing store has in stock. I bought a pair of dressed treble hooks with yellow feathers to add to the deception. Looks like a toy rubber duck, I've always thought it was a cool lure. TW has had on their site for a long time but always put on back order status. If I catch a bass on this I'll be amazed! http://www.persuaderamerican.com I may get the River2sea Suicide duck next time, it's a different approach for a duck lure.
  10. White works at night. Caught bass with white lures
  11. I notice that there are 2 body shapes on the whopper ploppers, doesn't matter which size. One body style is the torpedo shape and the other has a front belly. Why is that? Is it because the color decides what body shape the WP is? Is there an advantage from one body style to the other?
  12. Isn't this just a down sized or re-tooled musky lure, the Whopper Plopper? I know I've seen musky lures that do the same thing just a much bigger version. What am I missing here? Is this like reinventing the wheel?
  13. Oh I'm a fool. I done and bought a 130 in crystal shad. The curiosity monkey bit and have to find out what the hubbub is all about.
  14. Is it really that good of a lure? Is it all that and the kitchen sink? I remember when the chatter bait came into existence, that lure caught on like wild fire.
  15. I swapped hooks out with split rings. But does have tendency to tangle up.
  16. Daiwa has a new big low profile reel coming out soon. It's the Lexa 300 CC. CC is clicker, this looks like the Lexa HD but lower gear ratios. To cast a majority of swim bait lures up to 3-4 Oz and 20lb copoly line, what gear ratio? 6" Huddleston and Savage, Spro 6",etc. I have a Cardiff 301 w/ 24" ipt. I'm looking for a lower profile swim bait reel. I'm also going to get the double handle.
  17. I got it confused, turned a couple letters around. Shimano(stupid auto spelling correct on my Android phone) before had the BSF spool n some of their casting reels.
  18. Thanks man! Hey you're awake, the Zodias rod arrived today and in great shape! Those TW tubes are super durable. The Pflueger LE and Zodias look awesome paired together. Thanks again Bruddah... I'll send you a pic of my Quantum Energy casting reel tomorrow.
  19. I've been seeing that alot lately and I I don't know what it means.
  20. Just wondering if such a thing exist. I'm looking for a reel seat that the reel sits low. I have an older Daiwa Light & Tough rod that the reel sits lower. I have a couple round reels that I prefer the reel seat to be as low as possible. Any help or advice?
  21. Ok, bit the bullet. Bought the Curado 71HG for $158.95 free shipping, price I'm willing to pay. I hemmed and hawed about buying the 71HG, I do like the smaller Shimano baitcasters. Can't wait have it to arrive.
  22. Now that is too cool!
  23. Lew's PG1HL, 10+1, 6.2, 120/12, 6.8:1, 28" Shimano CU71HG, Left, 7.2:1, 6.5, 5BB + 1RB, 10/105, 12/85, 28" So trying to decide which of these 2 reels to get. I can only afford one. What's your call?
  24. Doesn't sound right. I have the Tatula CT (left hand) and it's smooth. That's the problem, it's a right handed reel....j/k
