  1. I have a couple baitcast rods with regular guides and have been thinking if It's possible to get those guides off and replace with micro guides. Is this possible and what is the best way to re-balance the rod?
  2. I have a Sahara 1000FD, I don't remember if the reel came with a spare spool. Did the FD series come with a spare spool?
  3. When I buy new rod, I always check to make sure everything on it is perfect. components are good, eyelits are straight and not bent, rod is the straightest with no slight bends on the shaft. So I ordered a new rod online and received it yesterday. upon insoection, the rod shaft has a slight bendbythe top. Will thsmake anydifferencehowtherod perform? Or will this slight bend eventually fail and snap? The rod seems good, it's just that slight bend thats bugging me. should I keep or return?
  4. Thanks for the heads up on the Veritas micro casting rod. I went ahead today and bought the 6'9" MH, my favorite length for a casting rod. I have the 6'9" veritas with standard guides, still fairly new, I should sell since I don't need 2 of the same rod. Any interest? BTW, I also ordered from TW the Quantum EXO casting rod, 6'10" MH, it's on sale for $130.
  5. I'm looking to buying this rod, the 6'10" M/H. For a branded rod, it has the components I am looking for. New Fuji SK2 handle, Fuji micro guide rods, Eva grips and split grip. So who has seen or own the EXO casting rod? How does it compare to other rods like the Cumara or Falcon Cara, or W&M Honeycomb micro? It has a 5 yr warranty, not a limited lifetime. So is this a good rod and what reel are you using on your EXO rod?
  6. The drags have been loosened on all my reels before I moved. Other concern is, will the grease inside the reels melt out if it's inside a hot storage unit? Can a graphite rod(s) warp after time inside there? What about the live bait I put in storage??? Just kidding...no worms, crickets, frogs and mice were harmed.
  7. Been awhile since I've been on here...how ya'll doin'? Here's the deal. All of my fishing gears been in storage in the Midwest since last Spring. I put all of my stuff in storage when I moved to SoCal over a year ago. Not sure if I'm going to take all my stuff back and ship to SoCal this summer or keep it in same storage unit till next year when and if I decide to move back to the Midwest. So since my expensive rods and reels have been in there, are they getting ruined from extreme heat and cold thru the seasons? They are not exposed to the elements but stored in a dry storage unit. Also all my lures and pontoon boat in same storage unit. Any thoughts?
  8. Are these reels being discontinued or what???
  9. This site won't allow the site, so go to . . com and type in Garneau Bed Bug. This is so screwed up! What a bunch of B.S.!!! Do a google search for the Garneau Bed Bug...scroll down about 3 down and you'll see the link for the video.
  10. Check out the video, looks promising. www.another site/showcase.cfm?PID=7211
  11. LOL! Thanks for the positives! The KSO model and a couple of the lower line models, yes you do feel like you're walking barefoot but w/ a bit of foot protection from thorns, broken glass, etc. It takes a bit of time to get used to them. Here's the deal w/ them that I am totally surprised...no more back or knee pains. Normal running shoes or regular shoes my back and knees are screaming after a whole day of wearing them. With the Vibram Five Fingers...no back or knee problems. Thats good enough for me and IMO...I don't think their fugly/ugly.

  13. I'll be using a 6'9" MH Carrot Stix it's rated for 1/4-3/4 oz lure weight. Reel I'm using is a BPS Carbonlite w/ 30/8 lb braid...so it's doable?
  14. Is it possible to cast this little lure on lite baitcast reel and rod? I read on TW that the weight of the baby BBZ-1 is 1/4 oz...so it's possible?
  15. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Bionic-Blade-XPS-Trigger-Rods/product/10210581/-1749643 Looks great, a nice change to this rod at a real good price. The BPS I went to didn't have any in stock...I was bummed! I have some BPS points I was looking to spending... The Spinning rod also looks promising, glad to see BPS stepping up w the times. I wonder when the Extremes and Pro Qualifier rods get a facelift...2012?

I'm w/ fishmasterjohn...I had one and it did not swim, it just moved thru the water w/ no motion. I returned it.
  17. Just wondering, I thought they came out right around now
  18. KY Warmouth, the 6'9" MH Zillion rod feels more like a heavy than a mh. I don't mind it cuz actually I get better hook sets and it's much more sensitive. I decided on the 6'9" MH cuz of the Tackle Tour review they did when the rod first came out, they reviewed the 6'9" MH and I like that lenght vs a baitcast rod thats 6'6". I'll tell you this much, the Zillion Type R looks really sleek and stealth on the Zillion rod. It has a Darth Vader'ish look to it.
  19. So if you read my review of the Quantum Smoke, that reel is going back. So moving ahead to earlier this evening, local bass shop has the 2011 Zillion Type R in left hand. I check it out, very nice. Sharp looking glossy black paint, carbon swept handle and NO eva grips. The washer to hold the reel handle nut is red, nice little bit of coloring. It's just a tad liter than the regular Zillion and has slits on top of the thumb rest. I check to see how smooth it is...very smooth. I mount it on a rod and it is also comfortable, just like a Zillion would feel. I just was wondering how much this reel is, I know that it retails for $400...the guy tells me it's $269.99...the same price as the regular Zillion! My brain is whirring, I like this reel; this reel is calling my name. I tell him to put it on hold for a couple days. So I bought it this evening and I kept my mouth shut on what the retail price was. The guy told me they also had a right handed Zillion Type R and that sold once it hit the reel counter. And the price was the same, so that guy knew a deal was in front of him. I also did, saw a new Zillion being added to my collection of reels. I re-greased and oiled it once I got it home. I put on 40/10 Power Pro and it looks sharp on any of these rods. Just not sure which is the best for it, probably the Zillion rod. On that rod and the Shimano Cumara, it is a stealth looking setup... Zillion Type R b/c reel on 6'9" MH Zillion rod: Mounted on a Shimano Cumara 7'2" MH rod: Mounted on a E21 Boyd Duckett Classic Gold Carrot Stix, 6'9" MH rod: Decisions, decisions, decisions...
  20. .dsaavedra., I redid my post and what the lure I'm using is on there.
  21. I've had a chance to fish both reels in the past few days. First the Carbonlite, in left hand. The reel is very nice and lite in weight. The color is good, not too bad; it's a darker yellow than the 2 Shimano Calcuttas I have. The dual braking works great, did not get one birds nest and I even used lures in the 1/4 oz range. This what surprised me with this reel and did not know it till I handled one. The spool control knob clicks! Yes, it just doesn't tighten up but clicks when you turn it...not a bad feature on a $120 reel. All in all I am very happy with this reel, it's very smooth and can do double duty as a finesse and medium duty baitcast reel. Only grips is the eva grips. I really don't care for them so I put on black Reel Grips. It bulked up the grip and it feels much better. I mentioned before that eva grips tend to cut easily. So I improved the grip on the grip and don't have to worry about the eva ripping. The carbon handle is nice, glossy black and it's swept. Gives it a high end look to it and drops the weight also. I do own a special edition Pro Qualifier that BPS had out during this years Bass Classic/reel trade in. The reel is black with a hint of purple and glitter, depending how the sun hits it. Anyways, the Carbonlite and the PQ special edition weigh almost the same, the difference is a quarter ounce. 7 3/8 oz on the Carbonlite and 7 1/2 ounce on the PQ special edition. The Quantum Smoke, also in left hand is a sleek, stealthy looking reel. It means all business, the new almost skeletal reel handle adds to the stealth look. Upon checking it out at Cabelas (this is the 6.3:1 gear ratio), it spun nice, a real looker, actually better than the Quantum Tour Edition I have of the same body style. You can feel how lite the reel is and when mounted on a rod, it felt good to the hand. Again, I'm not thrilled with the eva grips, I put on black Reel Grips so the eva will last longer and it bulks up the grips. Using this reel on the water....didn't like it. Yup, you read right I didn't like it. The ACS braking is....eh. I had to click to the second ACS braking to keep it from having the line run over and I use braid. I do have the Tour Edition and the Catalyst, all 3 share the same body and ACS braking. On the Tour Edition and Catalyst, I only need to click to the fist ACS braking and I'm good to go with any weight lure. So thats a minus on the Smoke reel. The Smoke IMO did not feel as smooth when retrieving either. The BPS Carbonlite which costs almost $80 less felt smoother, and the Tour Edition and Catalyst both a year older year are much more smoother. This really did not sit good with me, since the Smoke is an upgrade in weight, looks, I think bearings than last years Tour Edition and Catalyst. I feel for the $200 price tag that it's not worth it. The looks alone makes it very special and the feel of the reel makes it comfortable. The palming sideplate does stick out a bit and to tell you the truth, I've heard people complain that it's uncomfortable; to me I didn't really notice the bulge. So in conclusion, I'm very happy with the BPS Carbonlite and will be keeping that reel, since I've waited for a few years for BPS to come out with left handed version of the Prolite and was drooling when I saw the Carbonlite come out. It's a sharp looking reel, very comfortable, easy to cast different weight of lures, easy to palm and not too harsh on the eyes. The Quantum Smoke...is going back...not happy with this Quantum reel.
  22. Got this new BPS Laser Eye Shad over the weekend. Tried it out today and just casted it and reeled in medium speed. I get a hit on the lure and I'm reeling in...small bass, big swimbait. This proved to me even a small bass will tackle a much bigger meal. The BPS swimbait did its job, it swam straight on a medium to slow retrieve. It even did well on a faster retrieve. I weighed the lure on my digi scale and its at an ounce. For a lure under $4, it's not bad at all. Looks like it'll take a few fish before it's toast.
  23. You guys ever seen or heard of this lure? I won it on ebay, thought it was unique.
  24. Here's a pic of the reels. The Quantum Smoke is on a W & M Honeycomb Microguide 7'2" MH. Feels really nice on the rod, I have 40/10 Berkley braid. Cabelas only had the 6.3:1(26" IPT) reel available. They said the higher speed would be in soon. Didn't feel like waiting cuz I don't know when I'll be in there again. The BPS Carbonlite b/c reel is on a Carbonlite 6'9" MH rod, it has 30/8 Berkley braid. You really can't see in the pics but I did put on black Reel Grips on the foam grips. I hemmed and hawed whether I was going to do this. But after reading a b/c reel review on TT, don't recall which b/c reel it was; they said that the foam grips tend to cut easy. So I'd rather not have the foam grips on these 2 new reels go looking crappy after a bit of time. The Carbonlite reel I had to take off the foam handles and insert thru the back, the front is too thick to push thru. I'll be out tomorrow w/ both combos and get them wet, whether I catch bass or not I don't care...it would be nice though.
