I too have used a jig as a weight from a boat with success.It would definetly get hung up from the bank. This is gonna sound dumb but, if youre having trouble getting your weight hung up you might try a bead,eggsinker,a bead. Good luck!

They are good to drill holes in them and fill with B.B.s to experiment with depth manipulation. I also like to paint experimental colors on them.

Cheap? The best rod at walmart is a $41.00 abu garcia conolon. I bought one once out of sheer curiosity and I love it. The berkley lightin rod is o.k. at $36.00 and the berkley cherrywood is a $24.00 piece of flimsy crap.

I have a mega force 150i and it aint bad and it aint great but, It will cast a mile. Well worth 30.00, buy it.

The one on the right side , same side as the crankin handle but not attached to it. If it has a magnetic brake , its on the left side, my diawa millionaire does not have one.

The manuals that come with the diawas are useless. They tell you to loosen the backlash tension screw until no end play in the spool and start with 10 on the magnetic brake and decrease as you get better at casting. Bull ! I would put on whatever lure on and just adjust the backlash tension screw till the weight of the lure just drops from gravity.As for the magnetic brake, I would leave it at 5 unless youre casting into the wind where you could go to 2 or 3 .I have a couple of diawa mega force and black widow reels that this works on.

Id also make sure and be careful of them boat ramps with abrubpt drop offs. It would be a nightmare to have your trailer axle drop off and try to pull it out with a 4 cyl.

Dont run it in your 4 stroke lawnmower. It will run wide *** open no matter how you adjust the throttle. Only run it in a 2 stroke, like a weedeater or chainsaw.

Have any of you tried berkleys new lightin rod "shock" and what do you think of it?
