The best all around color for me in clear or stained water is tennesse shad.

Let me be the nut here and say that I think owner hooks are too hard. Ive had several owner worm hooks actually break before they bend.

If you could get your hands on some big Alum angle iron and drill 2 holes through them for bolts. You could then sandwich the two halves together over the bow( possibly between some thin rubber) just like a large wood workers clamp, then mount a transom mount trolling motor. I used a rig like this for years when I was a teen.

Cheap advice: After I tear my brush hogs on a texas rig, I save the tore ones and cut them in half and use the backsides as trailers on my jigs.

I would not put a round reel on a carrot stick because the round reel weighs more than a low profile reel, thus defeating the purpose of the light weight carrot stick. It seems the carrot stick/abu garcia revo is the most popular combo Ive seen.

I have never seen a bad reel from shimano or diawa. The only junk abu garcia has ever made is the new BCX that they make for wal-mart.The rest of their stuff is top notch.

Think of it this way, If you are lifting up a object, would it be easier with a 1 foot pry bar or a 10 foot pry bar? The short handle would alow you to reel your self to death but you would go through less motion. The long handle would alow easier turning, just more movement in the 360 deg range. Make sense?

I used to be all over the map on all my purchases and still am except for my reels. My shimano calcuttas are barr none, hands down, with out a doubt, the best longest lasting reels made.Period. On my rod prefrences well, Im kinda rough on rods so I dont have many exspensive ones . I do think its hard to beat berkleys lightin rod. Its my favorite.

Ive tested mine new one out of the box then took them apart and wiped out the grease and subsitited it with oil and I always gain 5 to 10 yards. Once you do this you have to oil them regularly.Ive also tested them on slower acting tip rods and If you can load the rod, the same reel gives way more distance.

Whats the difference in a floating and a suspending jerkbait. Do they both float?

The only bass Ive caught during the cold was with a bagely DB-3 or a norman DD-22. I havent had much luck with anything else.

Probably postal employee. That reminds me, WHAT is it about postal employees and guns. I knew half a dozen guys who worked for the postal service. From carriers to local postmasters (Maine to NC), and all of them treated their job like it was the US Marines, and all of the collected guns. The dude in Maine had a federal permit for an automatic weapon. Luckily the guys I knew were also great shots and very respectful of their firearms. Just seems that place breeds gun collectors. A friend of mine has used lightin rods all his life. He bought a new shock rod and in his experienced opinion, you can cast a little further with it due to the slicker rod eyes.

Cajun red is on all four of my sons reels and weve never had any memory or breakin issues.

If you ever take apart your reel to clean and oil,never ever get any oil on the magnetic assembly. it wont work properly . Keep it dry>
