  1. As you build up your rod arsenal youll one day want a 7:1 ratio reel. As far as I know those are all low profile baitcasters. Im like you, I prefer the round over the low profile tho, I cant say why.
  2. Do any of you remember flying lures? the ones that swim away from you when you lift the rod tip.The old man that I take fishing with me gave me a unused box of them. Should try I try them or is it a waste of time. In what situation would they be good for?
  3. I used to work with a guy that always said "It not exciting if theres no chance of dying while doin it!" when refering to recreational activites.
  4. Were all happy youre here, you joined the best forum on the net!
  5. After fishin rivers with low to no visibilty I decided to try an attractant. I had good luck by soaking foam earplugs in yum LPT attractant then shoving them into my plastic tubes and other hollow bodied soft plastics. It seemed to work pretty good.
  6. Thank you ,Ill try the angle next.
  7. Im here all the time. Ever heard of the bait monkey? Ive got a forum monkey! If I dont come here I go crazy!
  8. Hello and welcome! My in-laws own a trailer in Belleview which is awful close to you so I know how good the fishing is in your area. Glad your here!
  9. Welcome. I love tenn. My biggest striper came from Tims ford Lake. we are happy youre here!
  10. I noticed that about their reels and rods. May I add something? Their tackle bags also start all with a b.(Banar,Bluewave,Bristol bay,Butterfly) Exciting isnt it !
  11. To me the only thing a camera is good for, is to actually see what you think you see on the fish finder. In other words it a good training aide.later down the road you could get one so that those lumps and humps you see on your sonar screen could be further investigated with a camera to tell if its rocks, stumps, logs or brush. It may not be that big a deal to know the difference in type of structure to you but, its loads of fun if you have kids onboard. They love it.
  12. Yes its a riveted bass tracker. The transducer is mounted below the centerline of the hull. I have never changed the angle nor even thought about it . Does the slight forward angle alow it to reicieve the echos or pings better? When you refer to gain is that the same as sensitivity?
  13. Someday when you do catch a striper youll be hooked for life. Especialy a big one, the fight is beyond what words can describe! Having a heavy rod bend over in the water and almost comming out of your hands is fantastic!
  14. Ive used the blue fox and the mepps spinner but, If you can use a fly rod use a gold bead head nymph. Ive had luck with them over any thing else!
  15. I used to practice in the yard. I would over head cast and try to hit a garbage can. I would undarhand and try to hit a garbage can lying on its side. (simulating casting under overhead limbs) It improved my accuracy but, the nieghbors though I was insane!
  16. I always thought academy sports line of H20 crankbaits were alot like lucky craft. Have you ever seen them?
  17. I have 2 boxes of jigs with trailers in the box but not attached. I have natural colors in one for the lake. I keep the darker colors for the muddy stained river in another.. To me color is so obvious, so I sort by weight. I sometimes have trouble telling one weight from another.
  18. Oh I forgot to mention the throttle, I wouldnt use one,I would get a hot foot and a seperate ignition switch.
  19. If you are going to do this The best idea Ive heard is to go center console. You could buy a sheet of aluminun and build the templates out of card board. A jig saw will make short work of cutting the alum. out. If you havent already, you should look at boaters world or west marine for a complete kit. There is one called the Safe-t quick steering system or the NFB 4.2 mechanical rotary kit. you dont have to fool with welding the console. rivets about every inch or 1/2 inch will be strong enough.
  20. I agree, Ive had to fill mine in less that a year, the constant recharging dilutes the acid in the form of fumes. Be sure to use distilled water, it will prolong the life of your batteries.
  21. I have a alum. boat with 45 h.p. mercury.Top speed 30 m.p.h. The transducer is transom mounted in between the strengthing ribs just like the book says. Its a eagle fishmark 320. Im not too concerned with bottom detail, but I am with depth readings that Im not getting. Do I need to change the ping speed, noise reduction or the sensitivty? Wheres a good place to start?
  22. For the high price, Ill stick with my calcuttas.
  23. If you ever use deep divers like a bagley DB-3 or a bill norman dd-22 you have got to get a winch! They are great, they will keep you from wearing out from all that cranking.
  24. I recently bought a daiwa millionaire 3-h and a 4-h on ebay. They were actually made in japan, not china! I love ebay!
  25. I dont fish lakes much mostly rivers. I start out trolling up stream casting towards structure ,stumps ,and creek mouths fishing for LMB and spotted bass. On the way home, I troll downstream with a chrome/blue rattle trap. When I catch a striper, I have then found a school of them and I stop and fish there or Ill keep following down stream. A friend of mine showed me this.
