Do-It Screw-Loc Trokar Football Head Mold
Bluebasser, I am going to totally agree with you on this. Also I went on Barlow's site, and they always list alternate hooks that would fit, if any, and I didn't see any other hooks listed.

Do-It Screw-Loc Trokar Football Head Mold
Bluebasser, I have a lot of Do-It molds, however I do not have this one. The reason I didn't buy this is because I was told, that only the Trokar hook will fit in that mold. If you look at that hook it has a very distinctive curve to it and I have never seen another hook that resembles that Trokar. However I cannot confirm this. If you do buy it please post your results as I'm interested to know for sure.

Pflueger Supreme Spinning Reel Bearings
I have several of these reels, and decided to clean them up internally. My question is that some of the bearing sets on the handle seem to be sealed. When I look a both sides of the bearings, you can not see the actual bearings. So is this possible? If it is I assume you can not clean and oil these? I looked at all the other bearings and you can see them in their cases, which I oiled. One last question. There is a set of what looks like needle bearings that sit in its own sleeve which go under the spool on the shaft. These do come apart and I can clean them. Do you guys do this and then replace and grease? Thanks for any help.

Weed Guard Probs
If you are using thinner weedguards, put a piece of tape on the edge of the hook face and then just touch the weedguard to the tape. I do this all the time. It will hold the weedguard in place until the glue or epoxy sets. I sent you a PM with some pics

Do You Use Different Brands And Styles Of Lipless Cranks?
That's weird, because I've tried a lot of others as well and only get bit on the Rattlin Rapalas. I was fishing with a buddy of mine when we had our 30 and 40 day fish. I think it must be the way I work it because my buddy used my spare, and he wasn't catching anything. He then went to a red eye shad and he started catching his own share of fish. So I don't know?

Do You Use Different Brands And Styles Of Lipless Cranks?
I also always throw the 1/2 oz size. However, I have only had luck with Rattlin' Rapala's red craw and chrome shad. I throw these religiously and don't use anything else and there were some 30 40 fish days in Spring and Fall. I have tried Bill Lewis rattle trap and never did good on them. JMO

Curado G Baitcast Reel Vs Tatula
I would like to know the opinions of you guys fishing any of these reels. I am looking for an extra jig reel or two add to my Revo Premier collection and also to have a couple extra. So here are the parameters and I would like to know what your thoughts are since I've never had a Shimano or Daiwa reel. The Curado G is on sale for $99.00, money here isn't an issue but let's stick to the two reels mentioned. Also if I go with the Tatula is it worth the extra $50 to go with the Tatula Type R? ... All have to be L.H. crank ... All will be put on a 6'10 mh rod, currently Johnny Morris sig series. ...All will be spooled with 10 or 12 lb mono ... All will be used for jig fishing 1/4 oz jigs with a paca chunk trailer. ....Gear ratio not important. Don't think I missed anything. Thanks for any and all help

Inspired Now....
Fishwhittler, You are correct, I've seen their work and spoken to fatfingers, jrhopkins and also tigger, and there work is the best of the best from some of the most helpful luremakers. From making every bait from scratch down to painting, top notch.

Jig Skirt Combo Colors
I have a bunch of blemished ones if you want them they are yours free. This would include some Arkies (which are brown), finesse Snooties and bunch of others in black , brown and green and all different sizes in ounces. They are not perfect as some of them have flaws, maybe a paint chip, but they are fishable and will catch fish. They do not have skirts on them either. So if that works for you then they are yours. PM me your full name and address, and I 'll send them out to you on Tuesday. Have fun and catch some fish.

Jig Weedguards
WRB, I totally agree with you. Since I don't fish a lot of timber, all of my jigs have a 15 strand fiber weedguard or less. I do not like stiff weedguards no matter where I fish. I do also believe that stiff weedguards prevent good hooksets. My philosophy is, the little bit of weedguard I have on my jigs is there to deflect weeds that's it. JMO.

Thinning Devcon
My Ace hardware has it, however, I buy the bigger bottles at Tower hobbies on line. Much cheaper that way if you are going to use a lot of it.

Buying A Boat For Resale Value
Slone, I agree with you, I buy a boat for its current features that I like and maybe for some features I didn't have in my last boat. I do not buy a boat for re-sale value later. Because lets face it when a boat gets older it does lose a lot of value. Also I see a lot of guys that have 2 -3 year old boats that are in worst shape than my 7 year old boat. Resale value is only as good as in how well you take care of your boat. My Ranger is now 7 years old and it looks like it is brand new. However I am very anal about my boat and trailer. There are no scratches (if any happen I get them fixed), the boat and motor are meticulously maintained. The reason I bought my boat was because the Ranger I have has a longer front deck for the fishing rods I use, and they fit flat on the floor. The other two boats didn't have that. That was my biggest thing that I wanted in a boat. It may not be a issue to others but that is what I wanted. So buy a boat with what you want in it not because you will get more money in 10 years and like mentioned there is no perfect boat. Also note, I keep my boats for over 15 years + if possible. I buy something really nice , take care of it and hope to keep it for a long time. In all reality, if we all had to fish out of a canoe, some of us would catch more fish than others. It's not only about the boat, you have to find and catch the fish too. JMO

2014 Ranger Rt178 Or Tracker Txw?
I had a Tracker Magna 17 alum. for 17 years, I can't say a bad thing about the boat other than my deck boards rotted out but it was a 1985 boat. I now have a Ranger. When I was looking at boats in 2007, I was looking at the Tracker Tundra, Lund and Ranger. The Tundra and the Lund were alum. With all said and done with the money I would have spent on the Tundra or the Lund I got a Ranger. This is my first glass boat. Pay the extra few bucks and get the Ranger if you can afford it. I was on the fence with my decisions, and I'm very happy with my Ranger.

What Hooks Are Ya'll Using?
Owner 5304 deep throat hooks. Extremely sharp and I have never missed or lost a fish with this hook. Also light and strong since I like to throw really light jigs, the hook doesn't add any extra weight to the jig.

Rod Rated For 3/16 Lighter Lures Be Ok?
I use a JM 6'8 MH signature II rod with a Revo premier bait caster and I have no problem casting a 1/8 oz jig with a paca chunk trailer. 95% of all the jigs I throw are 3/16 oz and less. The addition of the trailer will definitely get you the distance you need to cast accurately.

Skirt Making Question
If you are one of those guys that like to change skirts on the boat then I would use a rubber collar. If you never change your skirts and want a secure skirt then I would hand tie with wire.

Thinning Devcon
If you are going to thin it, BobP is correct. Use denatured alcohol. I have heard bad results from guys that thin with acetone or lacquer thinner.

Thinning Devcon
Yes it has the viscosity of 5 minute epoxy, but DO NOT use the 5 minute epoxy, as it turns yellow very quickly. I use D2T on my jigs and the finish is flawless. It is ready to fish in 24 hours, however I would wait at least two days. JMO. With epoxies, the warmer the area you are working in the easier it is to apply and the more it stays liquid longer. So if you are working in a garage and it is 45 degrees in there, you will be pretty hard pressed to get any kind of good coverage on your bait, because the epoxy will be very stiff. So I would suggest you do this in your house. The D2T has no smell. Working in the house, you will get excellent coverage, and Devcon is self leveling. What that means is that all the brush strokes will disappear. Also don't over brush it. Brush it on , see that you have complete coverage and let dry. I occasionally look at my jigs to see if anything is dripping. However I do not use a lure turner on my jigs. Also when you use it. squeeze out only what you will need in about 10 to 15 minutes. Once you mix the two parts, a chemical reaction starts, and the epoxy starts it hardening process. So don't do a lot at one time because you will never brush it on as it starts to harden. There are some short cuts as heating it and so on, but it would take me too long to explain. If you need more help PM me.

Thinning Devcon
To me if it is warm enough, I would not thin Devcon. JMO. From what I've heard, it is one drop just to thin, not to make it soupy. Also, if you thin it you will have to put it on a rotating wheel, to definitely keep it from sagging.
