A back bay
There is a back bay just a minute from my cottage that gets no boat traffic or waves, and there is pads everywhere, with a lot of logs. But the water is about a foot deep. To shallow? Is there such thing as to shallow until the bass is out of the water even? Have caught some bass out of there, nothing big, but i'm thinking i'll hit that post spawn when the season opens. (season for all of us up north)

What pound test for frogs?
What do you guys use when you're fishing with a frog? Mono, fluro, or braid? What pound test? I've been using 50 pound braid and that will never break, but I'm wondering if that's to much. It seems like the bass could see the line a lot more when using a braid like that. Any thoughts? Dylan

Predict Your Biggest Bass of 2010
Currently my PB is a 4.6 pound smallmouth, and a 3.14 pound largemouth. Looking to break 5 pounds, either smallmouth or largemouth, or both!

backlash waiting to happen?
I had the same problem. It seemed like my reel settings weren't helping, but as its been said before, you cant completely rely on your reel. What I found helps a ton, is for the first .5 seconds of your cast, yes .5, you thumb the spool. I think that at this section of the cast is most likely to cause you a birds nest, rats nest, backlash whatever you call it theres many ways to call it. So just that very short period of thumbing the spool, really helps against your backlash. This has also been said before as well, but check your settings for each bait you put on to. I set mine so the bait just barely starts pulling line out. And a lot of it is just practice as well, I started using a baitcaster when I was 13, and its taken me a year to mostly stop getting the backlash.

is this to much?
I bought a new reel (level wind) and it had 50 pound braid on it, I was thinking i'll just use it when im pitching jigs into heavy cover, but is 50 pound to much? also was thinking about using it with a spinner bait but i'll probably just stick to my normal 17 pound mono line. thanks

please help..... very strange lake???!!!!
I have the exact same situation. But there isnt any bass in the pond down the road from me, I have fished that pond for days on end with every possible technique, and never caught anything. There is a TON of sun fish in there though. This pond is very very deep though, similiar to what your dealing with. My friends dad made it.

How would you fish this place?
Wo your lucky to have such a honey hole. I would probably fish just as i would on any lake. But judging by the bass your holding id stick with what your using. I would just use a search bait like my personal favorite a colorado willow leaf blade combo spinner bait to find em, the use a soft plastic to pick off the less active fish. and its been mentioned already, when the suns high like that id be fishing in any sort of shadows

Is it possible???
Exactly. No other way to put it.

What would you do in this situation?

Locating Post Spawners
Hey guys, im up in Ontario here, and the season opener is this weekend. Im not sure where to start off to find these fish. I have read fish for em shallow, fish for em on flats, and fish for em deep. Whats your opinion, and what kinda baits do you prefer? Thanks

Tactics & Strategy
If the weather is warm, I burn a spinner-bait when its overcast, when its sunny, I throw a t-rig.

How many lures do you take on your boat?
One thing you can do is; -bring your whole supply of fishing lures on the boat with you, and constantly change until you find something that works. -or, you can go out fishing everyday with all your lures until you find 5 or so baits that you know will produce all day, and from there just make little adjustments. I personally hate changing baits when I'm on the water. So I have 5 baits hooked up all day and dont change them. I just adjust my fishing style to the changing weather/ time of day.

Lunar Tables - How does everyone use them in their plan
I always hear about the different moon phases making the fishing better/worse. But I never put it into my plan. If it is a tournament im preparing for I may look at them, but generally I stay away from them. I just like getting out on the water, whether its a certain moon phase or not.
