  1. I would challenge anyone to find a bass that has the following. Best Members. The absolut best info and advice on bass fishing. A site that lets members have fun, but doesn't get way out of control, like some sites. Where a New member can jump right in, and feel at home. So ..yeah, regardless of ranking, WE know BR is #1. Oh, yeah..and the mods are o.k. to..
  2. It's very important to moisten the line first, or the line can burn itself when chincing up the knot, in regards to the palomar.
  3. The Last word in Braid....Diawa Samuri....you've tried the rest, now try the best.. Sorry, I got carried away...
  4. Megastrike goes on anything plastic, including swimbaits, spinnerbait skirts, and jigs..
  5. Hmmm, so much for the....we build em 1 at a time.. It's a shame that a small to med sized business can't hang on in these times...
  6. Yup, here it is.. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1262913406
  7. Josh, as an example..If I'm at a lake that has fairly large rocks/bolders on the bottom, I'm gonna use a 2' leader/tag..I want my bait to be hopefully laying on the rocks where the fish can see it, rather than have it fall in the cracks. My belief is the easier it is for the fish to get to, the better for me.. If the bottom has 8" grass, then I shorten the leader/tag so the bait is just on top of the grass, or whatever the bottom has.. If I wanted the bait to be ON the bottom, I would opt for a t rig, splitshot, or c rig..Also, even with a longer leader/tag, you can get your bait on the bottom if you desire, just keep more slack in the line, but it's harder to detect bites that way. Hope that helps to answer your question.
  8. Usually for accurate cast's..folks recomend a shorter rod, i.e. 6'6"..or less. OTH, taller guys like me prefer a longer set up, it really what YOU like, best to try a couple of different rods if possible. There really is no perfect rod size..
  9. Absolutly..Yes, it will work, I have a spinning, and a BC, that are MF for plastic's, I even throw spinners, and weightless plastics with them too. I have to say, in some cases I would prefer a mhf..I'm saving up for my custom made mhf..
  10. Aged...I like that discription.. ;D
  11. Sorry, I should have been more specific..the distance from my hook to sinker..I don't use a leader for ds'n.
  12. my mistake, thanks for pointing that out Wayne.. Old age has it's disavantages...
  13. Some of my favorite ways is..6# line on a mf spinning rig..size 1 or 2 misqito hook, nose hook a 4 1/2" or a 6"roboworm flat tail, same with Flukes..same set up, and whacky rig a 4" senco. I actually tried a 12" worm, but got no love..lol I have caught a couple fish ds'n a ragetail lizard in shallow (4') water.. My leader varies from 6" to 2'..all depending on condition of the lakes bottom ect.

Yup, I think if you compare the action of the ragetail lizard, you'd be hard pressed to go with anyother..
  15. I take a couple of things into consideration.. 1 is wind..none to a light breeze and I toss the Chatterbait. 2...Water clarity..Clear, I toss a spinnerbait..it seems to get more bites..slightly stained, to stained..a Chatterbait. I fish a small pond which has slightly stained water and is heavly fished with spinnerbaits, yet I catch fish on both baits, but more so with the chatter bait, also get bigger fish..for some reason..
  16. Hopefully they have tightened tolerences up the extrem reels...my 2 yr old Extrem has a lot of play in the spool, if the tension knob isn't set just right, also the tension knob requires contant adjustmen, un like my more expensive reel. Other than that, it works fine..
  17. You could use 55# Diawa Samuri..same dia as 12# mono..I use a 12lb leader of trilene 100% fluro for now. Someone recomended Maxima fluro, so I might try that.
  18. As far as action ect..depends on the make of the rod, some are stiffer than others, i.e. my Shimano is rated for 1/2 to 1oz lures, yet will toss a 2oz lure easily..I think a mh f is a good all around set up..Although if you plan on fishing lighter lures, and more open water than heavy stuff a mf should do the trick. In regards to lenght..a 6'6" rod will allow you to be more accurate with your cast's..usually..Although alot of guys, including myself that are over 6' tall prefer 7' rods. However, if I'm under a tree, or I have limited room to toss my 7 footer, then I use the 6'6" rod. Then you get into swimbaits, flippin ect where rods are usually at least 7'6" often you see them at 8'. In the end, get what's comfy for YOU to use. My bet is you'll wind up buying more rods and reels down the line.. ;D When asking a broad question such as yours, it's best to give as much info. re: how and where you intend to fish, makes it lots easier to answer.
  19. Samuri has NO break in period...there's a reason it cost's more...you guys really should try it..
  20. That's not the first time Shimano sent out a Free spool..
  21. There's Global Warming...? ;D
  22. Also, in open water, i.e. no casting restrictions, some guys like a 6'6" and others prefer a 7' or longer, in that sense, it's kind of a personal thang..I don't fish in a restriced area, and fish mostly from shore, so I choose a longer rod for comfort, and longer cast's..
