Winter Wonderland
We get big snows now and then and we always have periods of time where the temperatures are below zero, but we don't normally have this much snow and temperatures this low for a long period of time. The last couple of days have been the first days we have seen 30 degrees since around Christmas. Actually, 20 degree temps feel like a heat wave.

Rage Craws
True. Some of the best winter fishing I have ever experienced involved lures that weren't fished in a subtle manner. But more often than not, for me, I've found that slow and subtle works better when it is cold. I've really found the Rage Craws to be very good all the way down into the 40s but this Winter the snows have been so heavy and the temperatures so cold I haven't been able to test them in extremely cold water. By the way, the Rage Grub idea sounds cool.

Rage Craws
I can't add much to the previous posts. I love the craws as jig trailers. I'm curious how the bass will respond to them under Winter conditions. (By Winter conditions I mean water temps in the 30s.) The action of the claws is so pronounced I'm thinking these may not be subtle enough for lethargic bass, even when fished at a snail's pace. Big-O?

Yeah, I took these pictures on January 7th and I thought about that. Good point.

Winter Wonderland
I read the thread, "Sick of Freezing Weather," and I thought that some of you, especially those in our northern tier of states, might have some wicked weather pictures to post. At my house on the northern side of the Kansas City metro area, we have had about 22 inches of snow since December 24th. Below are some pictures of my Winter Wonderland. Until this week we've had sub-zero lows with highs barely reaching zero to ten. This week temperatures are reaching the 30s and possibly even 40.

Best/Favorite polarized sunglasses
Like rods and reels no one has tried all the brands of sunglasses, but some brands are well-known for quality. That's where I would start looking. Personally, I am far-sighted so my vision is hawk-like at distance but I need corrective lenses for tying knots. My eye doctor sells Maui Jims and they are high quality so that is what I use. I can't speak for any other brands but I've heard a lot of good comments about Oakley, Costa, mid to high priced Solar Bats, and Maui Jims.

Best fishing magazine?
Thanks, Sam. The Bassin' issues I have read weren't bad but I have not subscribed due to their delivery problems. Of all the magazines I've read, In-Fisherman is the most informative to me. I just wish they had a few more articles about bass fishing. I think the In-Fisherman books on bass fishing are top-notch as well, especially the material on location. I also read Missouri Game and Fish Magazine for a local slant.

Best fishing magazine?
On previous threads about magazines there have always been complaints about the delivery of Bassin' for those who have subscriptions. Is this still a problem or have they corrected it?

Will fish die if they swallow plastic worms?
Adding something unnatural to a natural environment is always going to disturb some aspect of that environment. Purposely dumping plastic baits in the water is obviously going to affect the aquatic environment in some manner. From this article it would appear the accidental loss of plastic baits in a body of water is enough to have a negative effect as well. I think biodegradable baits are the future of our sport with respect to fishing "plastics" if we want to protect our waters and the creatures that reside in them. Currently, I own very few of these baits. I tried Gulp a couple of years back and wasn't impressed. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to give some of these baits a fair hearing.
