  1. It's still funny and surprisingly timely. There were some young women pulling a stunt that was, in some ways, similar to this joke just a few days ago. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/atm_sex_machines_QDZQoW4IO0aqI1wDv97m6L
  2. Nice story and nice fish! Congratulations!

    Welcome to Bass Resource, Lee!
  5. Thanks for changing your avatar, Roger. I was getting tired of the 1970s adult film actor holding the fish.
  6. Welcome to the forum, George!
  7. I have a Spinnerbait tied on one of my rods most of the time. Having said that, it isn't a miracle bait. It has been stated many times on this forum that particular baits are tools and you have to use them in the right time and place. This statement holds true for the spinnerbait. The general situations to use them are in stained water, when the wind creates a chop on the water, and when the fish are at least somewhat active or some combination of these three. I've also noticed that in a highly pressured lake where the spinnerbait is used by many anglers, bites can be difficult to come by at times. Some don't believe it, but I think fish can become conditioned to baits they see all the time.

  10. Yes, 6th in the tournament caused him to be second in AOY. If he had finished 4th or higher he would have won Angler of the Year.
  11. Soccplayer07 is right. You can still buy an older fiberglass boat, but you will find that most boats of this age will need some work, whether it is minimal stuff like seats and carpet, or major items like engine repair. You don't want to buy a $4000 1980s boat and then find out after the fact that the engine needs a rebuild, or the transom is flexing. I mentioned in an earlier post that you should take a possible purchase to a mechanic. That is especially true for older boats.
  12. I saw that. I know there were a couple of deaths from the flooding as well. Hopefully, things will return to normal before you have to travel.
  13. Welcome to the forum! I think Virginia is taking over.
  14. I know the feeling. Just keep in mind that it could be worse. Last Fall I performed an upgrade of a customer's VoIP enterprise network in Lewisville, TX starting in September and finishing just before Thanksgiving. Yeah, I know there are plenty of lakes near Dallas, including Lake Fork. The problem was I was often working more than 100 hours a week. I was too mentally exhausted to fish. I have already told my employer that if it happens again they are fired. "This too, shall pass."
  15. I would check out every resource I could for used boats . . . iboats.com, craigslist, newspapers, etc. You may have to buy an older boat. If you aren't familiar with boats and boat motors and you find a boat that appeals to you, have a mechanic check it out before you buy. It will cost you around $100 - 150 depending on how thoroughly the mechanic checks it out, but it is better to spend this small amount up front than the amount you would spend further down the road if you make a bad purchase.
  16. If someone says that I would have to say it is just sour grapes. No way would Skeet "give away" the chance to win both AOY and the Classic in the same year. Kudos to KVD. What a finish! I'm not big on the new "playoff" format either, but it is what it is.
  17. Yeah, Vinny, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to find a post-1999 fiberglass boat (including the engine) in good shape for $4000. If you want a boat model from the last decade you will need to look at aluminum boats with very small engines for that price. What size of boat and motor are you looking for?

Welcome! It is a great site. You might want to go back and post an introduction in the Introductions forum. Some people may miss your introduction in the General Forum.
