Carolina Rigging
Hey everyone, Wdy here, I am heading to a private farm pond Friday afternoon with the intent of finding Bubba in that pond! I read Carolina rigging is a good method to use for bigger bass. The max depth of the pond is 7.5' with dimensions of 150' long and about 40' across. It is a creek the land owner stopped up. Well, I have my 1/4oz. egg sinker on, glass beads, and swivels on and ready to go. I plan on using a 10" silver and black Culprit worm or Zoom Ol' Monster red worm. I got it sitting on a Powell Endurance MH/exft tip with a Curado 200e5. Since I have never fished this method before I want to see if anyone has tips on this type of fishing before I go out there and risk losing a huge bass. Thank in advance, Wdy

X2 Thought it was a cool reel to have, but always having to adjust the casting control from one cast to another. My premier never failed me, but others I set it and forget about it.

Shimano Citica Ci201E Or Curado Cu51E
Totally agree with Dr. Watson! You cant go wrong with either I would just look at the application you are going to put the reel to. If you are going to use bigger baits, say spinnerbaits or crankbaits go with the Citca. But, if you go with plastics get the 51E. Line capacity should favor the Citica, but enjoy what ever you get because either one should make you happy! Let us know what you decided upon.

Abec 7 For Curado
Hayden, not sure if Wayne did or not couldnt see that well. I was sitting over in the other chair and he was working under his light. The ones I had put in were/are Boca Bearings, there top of the line ones. I spoke with Larry there before putting them in and he said you can either put grease on them or not. But, that grease will act as a noise dampener since the bearings are enclosed.

Abec 7 For Curado
I just got the bearings replaced in my 50E (out of curiosty, nothing was wrong with the Shimano stock bearings). I got some high-end ceramic bearings and actually made the reel worse for me. It tightened up the reel way too much! I trust the guy I take my reels to, but for me it was a giant waste of $$. One thing I was told by the Bearing maker is ceramic bearings will make more noise so, heads up on that one. Personally, I recommend saving your $$. Hope this helps, Wdy

Your Favorite Fishing Rods
Yeah, I had to vote Powell rods. Never owned or used a Dobyns, but Powell's have done well for me.

Newbie In Virginia Beach
Welcome! I lived in Newport News for awhile so, I can suggest some places up there. But, i would suggest looking at lakes in Suffolk like Lake Cohoon, Prince, and the Finger lakes (no boat needed there.) Check the regulations, I know some of the places I mentioned are pay to fish. Again, welcome to the forums!
