  1. (Let me know how you guys like that reel will you. Thinking about popping for one myself, same application, love me some 4" senkos!) Not sure about the $30 for a Verdict. I have heard of some problems with Vertias though. Are you dead set on a Abu Garcia rod? As far as line goes, I haven't used the Insix, but have heard a lot of people really like it. PS welcome to the forum Robert.
  2. I Like it!! Couldn't put any better myself!
  3. Hahha, I dont mind it Hayden We'll go fishing soon and I'll hand her to you.
  4. Hahah, nice Hayden. Hey, I'll let you try it out sometime. I admit I am not crazy about the colors, but the fish dont seem to mind the purple.
  5. I hope the Junebug color works well for these!
  6. Ugh, well looks like I am about to be $3 plus tax poorer. (get off my back now bait monkey!)
  7. Oops, I forgot to mention T-rigging-flat orentation with a keel weighted hooks produces good action?
  8. Thanks for posting this thread. I have been very curious about these new plastics! With the Devil spear, I assume T-rig flat oreination and it will work like a Rage Shad. But, you have T-rig it vertically and it will be more like a swim bait? I am thinking about this bait for smallmouth. Thanks,
  9. I am kind of leaning towards a Pfluger Supreme XT. Also, yes, I meant the weight of the reel, not in the context of its' drag power. The size I am looking at can pull in 30"/wind and is 7.2oz for the weight of the reel. Hunting will be good! Thanks,
  10. Bingo! This is a really bad predicament we are in. It's real easy to point a finger at both sides. The thing I cant understand is they are playing Russian Roulette with getting this done at the last minute and that is only making things worse! I've lost faith in our Senate/House abilities and I am just voting against anyone that is in office now when they go for re-election. We have reminder Washington we are their boss. There are some great points in here guys, and it seems everyone has been pretty civil for this thread, thanks!
  11. Hey everyone, I wanted to ask for spinning reel suggestions $150 (maybe a little higher if I really like it) or lower. I am going to be putting it on a 6'-10" Powell Endurance say, 8# copoly. (I love fishing 4" Senkos with this combination. I love setting the hook on a bass and hearing the drag noise, ugh!) I currently have a 2500 Sendona in use on that rod, but it has a slow gear ratio of 5.2to1 and the drag does not seem as precise as I want/need these days. (The drag is fine, just want more precision, then specturm range.) Looking for a reel 6 to 1 gear ratio or greater, something light (if possible,) probably front drag (which is common these days). Line weights, say 6#-10# and a good drag system I've always had Shimanos, never had trouble with them, but open to different manufactures. With all these news reels just trying to get a feeling for how they stack up and if I should be looking at them vs. current older models as well. Thanks in advance, Wdy
  12. yeah, I do remeber somewhere reading that before now Glenn. Thanks for the reminder.
  13. I feel bad for what happened to Amy Winehouse, great talent, amazing voice. However, (I believe there were 14 Marines that were killed) the week Amy died and no mention of them, or recognition for them in the news paying respect.
  14. A-Jay, thanks for your trial with using the line. Mmm, I was going to try some, but I might wait a little. Even though this line is specifically for spinning reels, has anyone put it on a casting reel? I'll probably work better on the smaller reels say a 50E vs. the 200E sizes.
  15. That's why I dont own one, LOL! Totally agree with you
  16. Duckett rod, I was pretty impressed with the one I handled. Granted, I have Powell rods and that was not mentioned as an option, but of the other ones mentiond the Duckett really impressed me. I have known a couple people that broke Cumaras though. Good luck with your choice!
  17. Thanks for the reviews on the line, I have been very curious about it.
  18. Rage shad. Hookingem put me on to them, but in a court of law I am pleading the 5th. I went out fishing a couple of weeks ago and switched over to a Rage Shad. First cast, hit the water, took a second to pull out a small backlash, 1/2 reel turn, 3.5# bass (in a span of 4 seconds). I put it right on his noise! I was impressed!!
  19. Sometimes the bass just dont bite. It sounds like your prepared well and that might be the lesson to learn for this past trip of yours. I would love to catch something on every trip (I tell Sam I do), but things dont work out.
  20. Where are those made?
  21. Very nice catch
  22. Yeah, I've got a Powell endurance 6'-10" medium extra fast tip does great with 4" Senkos. No complaints from me. Let us know what you decide.
  23. yeah, you made a great choice on the reel. Just figure out the brake system and you should be done! Since this is your first baitcasting you might want to try Suffix mono (a little more forgiving initally), but the Yo-Zuri is great line, I use it (it can be a little wiry at first that's why I suggested mono first). Not sure about he BPS rods, havent used one, but if it feels good in your hand that is 1/2 the battle. Your first baitcaster will tell you what you do and dont like in rods and reeels, so this will be an experiment/learning process. Make notes of what you like and dont like then, if you feel you need to make changes know why. No mods needed, just play around with the brakes to get it set, enjoy, catch a pig and post pictures. PS I agree with Packard, I tend to prefer a green tinted line, I think it knocks down the reflection off clear or flourscent line colors.
  24. Heads up, I just opened the local paper here in Richmond, VA and Dick's Sporting Goods is advertising "buy three, get one free," and there is a package of GY Senkos in the article. Someone mentioned Dick's in an ealier thread sells them for $6.99/pack. So, the math would work out to about $5.25/pack before tax. Letting everyone know to check everyones papers this morning.
  25. yeah, there getting a little too pricey for me as well! Making the switch to Dingers and other similar products. Be interesting to see if people stop buying them will the prices come down.
