  1. Well, I went to my local tackle store today with every intention of only getting 3 bags of Paca Craws. Three bags, a spool of fluro, line conditioner later I walked out...............$47 spent.. oh-well.
  2. I do not mind paying taxes when I hear news like this!! Thank-God for US special forces!! USA, USA, USA!!!
  3. Hey everybody, I am looking for a fishing report for Lake Cahoon in Suffolk please. Particulary, if the bass are post-spawn yet. Thanks in advance Wdy
  4. Yeah, at that price range the extreme is a great deal! I havent had one, but I know a couple of people that use them and love them.
  5. I think the Powell is more sensitive then the Crucial. But, it just feels better. My explanation is when I hold the Crucial is feels light and sensitive, but not as "solid," as the Powell. It is like the Powell has greater tolerances of parts and piecing the rod together to give it that extra sensitivity. Pick a $50 baitcaster at a store then say pick up a top of the line Abu Revo, Diawa, or Shimano. That was the biggest difference between the Powell and Cruical. I felt bad yesterday because I had every intention of using my 6'-6" Crucial at that private pond, but never picked it up to fish with. I was enjoying the Powell too much. (And I love my Crucials, very sensitive, just the Powell does is better.)
  6. I suggest reading the reviews on ***.com and bassproshops.com as well. Maybe check out www.tackletour.com they are the Consumer reports for fishing equipment. I have 2 Curados and one premier. For $200 you have a lot of options, my Curados are great reels period! I have been thinking about getting a Diawa recently, but the major thing that holds me back is the numbers. Say, a Zillion which I am sure is a great reel has lackluster numbers against cheaper reels. The weight of the Zillion is 8.8oz. ok, while the Curado 200E7 is 7.6 oz. The Diawa has 8.8# of drag while the 200E7 has 11#. The differences are small, but a $100 worth of difference.
  7. Well, I had two unexpected expenses just hit me so no Diawa for me. Had to replace the windshield on my Exploder and shot updateds for my dog. So, maybe next month I will be the owner of a nice new black Diawa Trillionare.
  8. Very Nice Smallies!!!
  9. I finally took my new Powell Endurance 723 fishing today and I am very pleased with it. I really do not like to buy rods "sight unseen," but this one was worth the risk. I got the 7'-2" MH Xft tip and love it. I was on a private pond so, I was changing lures to try out as many types of fishing as possible. I also took my 6'-6" Crucial with me as a comparison, yeah never used the Crucial and I love my Crucials! I've seen some people mention these rods on the forum but not really talk too much about them. They are great rods! I am going to try to post some pictures of the big bass I got here today. She jumped 4 times, ugh I thought I was going to end with a "The one that got away story." This rod has the power to provide a great hook set @ 45 feet (distance the lure was at when I set the hook) using mono.
  10. yeah, I agree about the abrasion resistance point and the cost. I was looking at Berkley 100% Fluro today. Two-hundred yards, something like $17.99, while 300 yards of Pline Flourclear $10. Two spools @ $5 each or one at $17.99
  11. Yep, I got the MH w/ Xfst tip casting rod, the 723. I got in Thursday and have not open up the UPS tube yet. Combination of not feeling so hot one night and Happy hour Friday night. I'll make a post after I use it today. I will say one thing so far, they have nothing but great customer service! I called Wed. afternoon a couple of weeks ago and talked with the owner Keith Bryan for about 30 minutes explaining what I needed. So, for an owner to do that in order to make one rod sale kind of says something to me. Also, I found a review of the Max line of rods on Tackletour. There rating of the Powell was very high.
  12. yeah, I never owned a Diawa, but they have been around for a long time so I know there quality products.
  13. I left out the hook problem I had with the lure. The front treble was bent! Two hooks on the treble hooks were practicaly touching. I had one KVD tied on and using and another one in the BASS nylon bag they send you when you join BASS. I had RC 1.5s in the LC packing right next to the KVD wet and no rust on those hooks. Not sure, someone mentioned ealier about KVD switching out the hooks and swivels, if I got another one I will do that. I like the action of the lures, they preform well. Who knows maybe I got a dud.
  14. I am looking for tips on how not to give into bait monkey. There is a Diawa Trillionare at a local fishing store that is "speaking," to me. I got a buddy that works there and fequently go in to talk and get a couple of things. Problem is this Diawa seems like a great reel, but I have a couple Curados and a Premier so, it is not on the caliber of my other reels, but it seems sooooo nice!! How do you resist bait monkey? AJ, your response will be discounted.....
  15. So, I ordered a Powell Endurance rod and finally got it yesterday. Well, the rod is 7'-2" long and the ceiling where I am in 7'. Maybe I should have checked that before I ordered the rod. HAhaha!! I plan to keep the tube UPS delievered it and just tilt the tube against so, no rod holder rack use here.
  16. Nice pictures. I love the huge smallie! Great fish and awesome pictures of the Osprey!!
  17. I had a tournament both meet dates @ Powahtan lakes. Wished I could have made it.......
  18. Great fish! I love the nice smallies!!
  19. Great job!! I fished Gaston a couple weeks ago and know how slow it can get. Enjoy it!!!!
  20. Here is the full color selection of Normans http://www.normanlures.com/products/color_chart/2/7#Limited
  21. Is this it? http://www.normanlures.com/products/view/2/7
  22. I agree! I have just started fishing a BASS club here in Richmond using finesse tatics mostly. Eight pound Pline Flouroclear and not had a problem with it at all (no break offs)! Fishing senkos and Paca Craws, very sensitive and has done very well for me. One thing I have noticed, make sure you get a good knot on the line and you should be good to go.
  23. I can vouch for Sam, we are in the same bass club and that is all he talks about shakey heads!!
  24. So, I know now how you did it AJ. ahahha NICE!
