  1. For me it has to be 2 chicken biscuits from Hardee's and a bottle of orange Gatorade.
  2. I also agree that the topwaters would produce best during the low light conditions; but I have caught fish on them in the middle of the day. If the fish are not hitting the topwater stuff try going to a weightless Zoom Trick worm. Fish around cover or anything else that you think would be a good bass's home.
  3. I have never pegged my weight before.
  4. How well does fluoro do on a spinning reel? To answer your question it does fine for me. Use a little bit of KVD line and lure and it should work fine for you as well.
  5. I ALWAYS trim the weed guards on my jigs. But I have never trimmed the skirt on my jigs.
  6. It is always nice to have a pleasent surprise isn't it? BTW, I can't help you with the lesions I have never seen those before.
  7. Great story and a even better fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I don't engage the spool until the soft plastic hits the bottom. The only time I might engage the spool is when I am pitching in super shallow water and it won't make a difference if I engage the spool.
  9. I like to use frogs year round here in NC. I don't think frogs always represent frogs when you are fishing them; sometimes they may represent bluegills in the shallows or some type of small animal. The best time to use frogs would be in the summer but like I said above they will catch bass year round.
  10. I also like the SPRO brand in the original size. Another brand I like is the Rage Tail Toads, they have a great sound as they are "buzzing" through the water. Last but not least is the Zoom Horney Toads, they also have great action and sound but they are not as good as the Rage Tail Toads.
  11. Those 5 steps should really help people catch more bass! Not just newbies.
  12. I guess I will do it.
  13. I had no idea that a pond could be "naturally inhabitied". I always thought that a human had to put bass or any other fish for that matter in the body of water.
  14. I would stick with the meduim power and extra fast for the action of the rod. As for length I like a long rod about 7'2 (just as you described) to make just a little bit longer cast than I would make with a shorter rod. I know that you did not ask for it but I would make a line poundage change to 8 pound flourocarbon.
  15. I put orange. I like to use it so I can dye the tips of my jig trailers to match the colors of real crawfish.
  16. I also use flourocarbon on my flipping outfit, but many people only use braided line. I guess it is just personal preference. I think that most people would agree with me that you shouldn't use flourocarbon for topwaters.
  17. I would fish a buzzbait first, if no blowups I would then switch to a crankbait. After that I would go straight to the soft plastic perferbly a craw type bait since it is rip rap.
  18. I also agree that a jerkbait would do good. I like the Smithwick Suspending Rogues 5.5".
  19. What is your favorite size: 78, 100, 128
  20. I can't stand to wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. I have got some chartruese Spike-It that I use to dye the the pinchers on a craw and the tails on a lizard. I am eventually going to switch over to JJ's Magic but just haven't got around to ordering it yet.
  22. I live in central North Carolina and the only place that we might have smallmouth is in the extreme NW part of the state near the blueridge mountains. I know for sure that they have smallmouth in Tennesesee.
  23. My top three: 1. White 2. Green 3. White/Chartruese
  24. I put October with September being a very close second. I put October because things are starting to cool down and I have caught the majority of my bass during this month. ;D
  25. Yup, also read about you losing that Fat Free Shad; at least it wasn't a Lucky Craft. On a happier note at least you got into the fish good.
