  1. If you already have a crank specific rod with enough give than you can use fluoro or braided line. A soft tip and mono doesn't provide great hook sets IMO. I set the hook like i do when fishing a T-rig except i sweep sideways.
  2. I messed up and started from he bottom up! I ended up replacing A LOT of gear! Now i will buy exactly what i want the first time.
  3. I cannot wait for the fall here in FL. The shallows get absolutely crazy! Rage Tails and spinnerbaits will rule for sure! Great tips Glenn!
  4. I see no reason for removing it really! You risk hurting it if it is half way down! I have caught hawgs with Perch and Blue Gills half way down and just let them be.
  5. Except for lacking some periods it looks fine to me! What are you a teacher!?!
  6. Don't feel bad bro! I lost a $500 BlackBerry phone in the water before!
  7. It will be some of the best fishing you ever had! If you do get a front don't get discouraged at all! Rip Rat-L-Traps through grass, pitch big jigs in cattails and flip mats and pads with T-rigs! Still very good fishing!
  8. I agree about the FireLine Braid as well. What dodgeguy, no picture! After a few hours of use a layer of coating/color falls off and it becomes a lot softer!
  9. Way too short IMO. If the water is clear than you will want to make long casts. Such a short rod and heavy bait will hinder casting distance significantly. Just my thoughts.
  10. Not nearly as much as i would like. Me and my bro are the only ones in my family who fish. We get crap from the rest for spending so much on it as well. I only get to go one day a weekend if i am lucky!!! When work picks up i don't even get that!!! >
  11. I only worry about sensitivity on my rods that are used for bottom contact baits(T-Rigs, jigs etc).
  12. I use the following: Powell Max 766H/765MH Revo STX 6:4:1 FireLine Braid 65# test Tru Tungsten flippin' weights 4" Berkley Chigger Craw
  13. They tell you that.......................on a sunny day the clear lines will actually produce sparkles and shine/glare. They say the green tinted fluoros will cure it but i think the green is more visible!
  14. You need a stout rod to be able to quickly extract the fish from the cover once it bites. If you can't do this in time than the fish will tangle you in the cover and you will most likely lose the battle. A stout line like braid is also a big help when fishing cover.
  15. I have the following: 683C - all purpose rod 704C - spinnerbaits through cover 705C - pitching plastics in cover 735MH - frogs 765MH - flippin' heavy cover 766H - punching mats & swimbaits I love everyone the same! Well the 705C a little more. They are extremely sensitive and powerful rods. They are IMO, the best rod in their price range! Closest manufacturer i would compare them to is Kistler. The Powells are lighter and more sensitive though IMO!
  16. I TOLD YOU GUYS..................................................stick to your usuals rods, :
  17. Hello from Polk County FL......................................... 8-)
  18. If you work them very slow and let off as soon as you feel an obstruction(that's not a fish) they can be fished through a lot. How are you losing them on heavy braid?
  19. Or kick his Bass yourself................................................ :-X
  20. If having lost $7 on line that you didn't like is that big of a deal to you than maybe you should not be fishing guy!!!
  21. Yup, sure is man! It is an amazing line too!
  22. I would throw them a Chartreuse/white spinnerbait.
  23. I do ok with Shakey heads and Trick Worms worked slooooow!!!!
  24. .... And make sure you go to English class while he's in math class. It's Monday, not monday. OWNED
