Keel Shield install
My worry is that my boat has ridges or chines that extend along the whole bottom of the boat all the way to the keel. I have a feeling this is where i will mess up! If it was a flat surface on each side of the keel i would not worry.

The Red eye shad
They are good baits but i much prefer the Excalibur XR50.

Why so flippin long?
Pitching and flipping are two totally different techniques that require different rigs IMO. For true flipping(HEAVY cover) the longer rods have much more muscle to get the fish out of the cover quickly. Also, you can get more distance in each flip with a longer rod. It also depends a lot on the anglers height. Shorter anglers tend to be more comfortable with shorter rods. For flipping nasty cover i use a Powell 765. For pitching i use a Powell 705C in scattered cover.

Fluke
Depends on where they are holding. Do what you have to do to get the bait in front of them. Use natural colors and a slower presentation in cold clear water. If that doesn't work try increasing the speed a bit.

Keel Shield install
Hey all! I am looking for anyone in the central FL(Polk County) area that has experience installing keel shields that may want to help me do mine. I was planning on having a dealer install it but their fees are OUTRAGEOUS! PM me if you are interested and we can discuss further. 96 Astro 1850 DCX

Flipping
You can but unless it is all you can afford i wouldn't. Especially if you plan on doing a lot of flippin'. It is a technique that requires as much rod sensitivity and reel strength as possible(at least it is here). I would suggest the best you can afford.

Good Rod Under 150$

minn kota edge
Curious, what is your definition of "just barely enough? I have been using 24, 36 and 55 lb thrust electric motors on my 14 to 17' boats for the past 40 plus years in all kinds of water and never had a problem with power or maneuverability. Some guys are buying power they do not need and cannot use. You can never have too much power! You must not fish some of the lakes i do. When the wind is up, they can get down right nasty. It takes every bit of the trolling motors power to keep the boat under control.

What to use to clean my boat
Luis, I am sorry that you are unimpressed with BTS. We strive to make the best products on the market an offer superior customer service. With that said, why don't you call me and discuss the problems you found with BTS. If I cannot get you to a satisfactory result, I will gladly refund your money. I can be reached at (877) 221-9797. Rob You know, i think i will have to swallow my words this time. The first couple applications i could tell no difference in anything i applied it to(no shine or anything). But i decided i may as well use the whole bottle since it was bought. I washed the boat again and applied three more coats and now i can see it. You can actually see where the BTS has been applied and where it has not. Very shiny and "slick" look and feel now. Some say it doesn't make dash and vinyl shine but it made my black dash parts shine up nice. So i do apologize for my original review of BTS. No need for a refund, all is well!

Lake Istokpoga Fish Camps and Fishing Report
We have been fishing Istokpoga for a couple weeks now with not much luck. Everyone we talk to there says the same. We usually just get 4-5 all day but they are big ones. Henderson's produced a 9lber late Feb.

PFD Mildew Stains
I used a magic eraser on mine and it minimized stains a bit. What finally took them off was Dawn dish soap, LOL!

minn kota edge
For that boat i would say get the 70lb Edge(if there is room for 2 batteries). I had the 55lb on my old 16ft boat and it was barely enough.

What Depth Finder to get?
I just got a HumminBird 581i with internal GPS for $350. It is an amazing unit for the price.

Catch & Release
I will occasionally keep small bass for my mom to eat. Personally, i dislike the taste of bass and prefer catfish.

which hooks for what plastics
Just about every soft plastic i use gets a 4/0 Gamakatsu hook. Sizes 3/0-5/0 should be enough for most applications.

What to use to clean my boat
I wash with Turtle Wax car wash and then protect it with Bass Boat Saver. I bought some BTS a couple weeks ago and was not at all impressed. IMO, BBS is WAY better for the whole boat except sonar screens.

How many rods and reels have you lost in the lake?
Just one Shimano Crucial with a Revo Sx reel. Both BRAND NEW, it was the first time out with the combo! >

Stage of fish in Florida right now?
I have found ZERO fish in the shallow spawning grounds as of yet. All my fish have come from the pre-spawn areas that are very close to the shallows though. Senko style baits have been all i have had luck with.
-
What have you lost from it going overboard?
Revo SX and Shimano Crucial, couple pairs of Oakleys and the most recent, my brand new BlackBerry Curve about 2 months ago! >

Braids, braids, braids - so much confusion???
FireLine braid is by far the best braid right now. I have tried just about all of them too.

MinnKota or Motorguide ?
For the older motors you can't beat a MG IMO. I run an old 54lb MG Brute and man that thing is a beast! But for the newer ones MK is top dog IMO. I also have a 24V 70lb MK Edge that is absolutely amazing. Especially if you fish weedy, grassy areas, the MK will make salad of it all.

Stick Marsh/Farm 13
