Most cost effective combo unit?
For me it was a Hummingbird 581i combo with internal antenna. I fish mostly shallow lakes so a high dollar unit was not necessary. The unit is very impressive at it's price point.

water seporation filter
I change mine yearly along with the impeller. On my 150 EFI Merc you have to fill the new one with fuel before the install or prime the bulb up before you crank it. Otherwise it will shut down because it isn't getting enough fuel. That is on mine though.

Regulators
Definitely replace them! No use putting all that $ into it and then shorting yourself with bad regulators. They can cause your battery and stator to go bad. Trust me, a stator is not cheap. When mine were bad the boat would only run WOT for a couple minutes and than shut down on its own. They lead to other problems if not corrected soon.

Humminbird 570
If you mean the adapter to install the transducer on the trolling motor than you need part # AD XTM 9. I just got mine and it fit perfectly. http://cgi.ebay.com/HUMMINBIRD-TROLLING-MOTOR-TRANSDUCER-ADAPTER-AD-XTM-9_W0QQitemZ230446212600QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item35a7aa25f8

Worst Lure ever bought?
Amen bro. I fished that thing in a variety of places and under multiple conditions and a multitude of retrieves it's just a joke. : Me too, never caught a thing on them! I can't believe they cost the same as the Spro Shad, now that's a sweet lure!

transom mount transducer install on Astro boat?????
I am not worried too much about on plane performance since i rarely use sonar anyways. Once my transducer is on the bracket it allows me to rotate it freely to level it with the hull bottom. So that is all that the transom angle is needed for, bottom hull alignment of the transducer? THANKS

transom mount transducer install on Astro boat?????
I got the 581i combo. My last unit had the transducer in the bilge but i did not like it. Instructions say find the transom angle and adjust the transducer mount knuckles according to the number in inches of the transom angle. I do not understand why this is necessary if the transducer is adjustable anyway you set it.

transom mount transducer install on Astro boat?????
Hey all, I am having a hard time mounting my new HumminBird transducer on my 1996 Astro 1850 DCX. What's confusing me are the instructions in the installation manual. It wants you to use a plum line and find the angle of the transom. But how can i if the boat is on the trailer and the angle changes depending on how high the trailer is jacked up? It also says to mount at least 15" away from the propeller and i only have about 13". My boat like many Astros has limited room on either side of the motor and than it has those "wings" on each side. Can someone please help me with this? Where should i mount it and how do i get my transom angle? THANKS
