California Delta vs Clearlake?
My bigger fish have all come from the Delta. My biggest limits of 5 have come from Clear Lake. I’d agree with above that I would focus on the Delta for a PB.

Expedition to Lake Tahoe, looking for intel
I’ve only fished Tahoe from a boat so can’t comment much on access points. Usually trolling was the most consistent way for us to catch fish though we have done well drifting night crawlers. I’d imagine floating a crawler will do fine in the right areas. I’ve also fished bass once out of Tahoe Keys. My buddy knows someone who lives there and took their kayaks out and caught some around all the docks. FWIW, when I visit my buddy up in Reno, we fish the feeder creeks/Trucker river and not from the shore in Lake Tahoe. So if there are any around you I would not overlook them.

7” Senko
I occasionally throw it on the Delta or Clear Lake. I use a 5/0 EWG hook Texas rigged and weightless. I think the only times I’ve thrown the 7” has been in tournament situations when I’m targeting 1 big bite….the largest fish I’ve caught on one has maybe been 5lbs so not the best.

What are these lures and bag worth?
It’s hard to answer that as I can’t really see the brands of the hardbaits. I think I can see maybe 2 Bagleys and the others I can’t tell. Depending on that, $50 may be too high of an offer

I am happy the lakes appear to be filling up somewhat.
It’s certainly very frustrating with Casitas and lack of desire to bring in water. Interesting take on using it to keep construction from happening in the water district. It’s so sad what that lake has become.

Casitas is up just a little as they are diverting water via the Robles diversion away from the lake. Supposedly the filter/screen is broken which prevents debris from entering the lake…so in order to reduce branches in the lake they divert all the water and keep the lake low

Chatterbaits offshore
I’ve fished them in maybe 20-30ft of water around trees/rock piles letting it drop then ripping it off the bottom…sort of like fishing a jigging or monster spoon. I use a 1oz jig with a normal trailer like a Keitech or Rage Mennace…the only thing I did was switch out the blade to a smaller one….if you use a bigger chatterbait blade it gets tiring ripping them off the bottom

Advice on fishing the dam
I’ve done well using a Senkos against dam walls as it can slowly find the depth they are at.

Drop-shotting Flies?
Use to do it for bluegills years ago…a small streamer fly and a couple split shots

3rd and 4th lure to throw for spotted bass
A spoon for suspending fish and probably a jig

how are the norCAL people doing?
Just an FYI, Stripers are starting to flow into Disco Bay so my guess the rest of the Delta as well. It’s been awhile since I’ve been out but finally got out on Saturday for a few hours and a consistent bite. My buddy got the largest one which was 7lbs and we had a bunch in the 3lb range as well as lots of schoolies….I think the rain helped get them moving

first time trying for stripers, clifton forebay, ca delta
I find for Stripers, I usually do better in the Forebay vs Italian Slough. For numbers I would use a jerkbait like a Lucky Craft Pointer in the 100 size. Just start walking along the shore and casting. If you can find some submerged grass I’ve found some good luck fishing the edges. You should be able to get a decent number of schoolie stripers. Usually if I don’t get a bite in 30-45 minutes, they aren’t around. For bigger fish, I do better on larger swim baits especially a 5” Big Hammer. Another bait which I have done well on is a Spro Aruku Shad

how to figure out the california delta - such as bethel island, or should i go elsewhere...?
Have you been to Clifton Court Forebay? Easy parking and a lot of shore access…you just need to be willing to walk. Also if you drive a bit past Big Break, you can hit up Brannan State Park

10 ft Jon boat on the Delta
It really depends on where you go. In general I wouldn’t feel comfortable in something that small on the Delta. The only place I would use that would be in an area like Discovery Bay where you have some protection from the wind as well as a no wake zone

i googled it, and found nothing about a sinking frog. fishing a frog underwater.
Not sure if you punch fish, but I like using frogs as the thicker body/legs holds up well.

Fox Grove
It’s been a few years since I’ve fished it. I’ve caught bass. Best spot for me was walking as far as I could upstream of the parking lot. I also caught a few around the launch ramp. Caught them on swim jigs, senkos, or drop shots. I’d avoid it in the summer as the water gets pretty nasty with algae and weeds.

Huds year round
IMO the Hudd 68 is the best Hudd in the market. I’ve caught countless fish on them through the years in all seasons. Granted I’m California we don’t get too cold. I fish the trout color in lakes with/without trout and it’s always been effective. As mentioned above, fish them slow just to keep the tail moving…it’s seems like the slower the better. I’ve even caught a fish with it just sitting on the bottom as I went to get a drink.

For anyone in the So. Cali/ Orange county area................
This seems to make sense…they probably can’t compete with local tackle shops so that makes Irvine more attractive as not much around there. Add that the annual income is probably higher there than some of the cities north of it like Long Beach or Anaheim

Bay Area Lakes Bay Rental
It’s been a few year since I’ve been at Del Valle but it’s not busy on Fridays unless it’s a holiday.

Prime Months for Red / Orange Lures ?
It’s also a location thing…I fish the CA Delta and have a red squarebill tied on year around

Snap swivel selection
I use the Norman speed clips and have never had an issue with them. The biggest fish landed on one was a 15 lb Striper.

Southern California in late June?
Also don’t forget you can also target Spotted Bay Bass in San Diego bay…look on YouTube for some ideas

Anyone else feel that the SF Bay Area off to slow start?
Went out on the 13th with a buddy of mine to the Delta. Struggled in the morning on the outgoing tide…afternoon bite on the incoming tide was pretty good. Largest fish was just over 4.

Tackle Warehouse communication issues?
TW service responsiveness has certainly declined in the last few years (even pre-covid). I remember when I started first ordering probably 20 years ago it was top notch. I still think they probably carry some of the best selections though. You also need to realize that at least in California they just passed some additional Covid time off allowances for workers and it adds to the already short labor market.
