St. Croix Rage Rod (1St One Snapped, Second Creaks)
That stinks, man. One of those things that keeps you from getting another. If you are worried at all, return it and probably go with something completely different.

What's Your Worst Series Of Unfortunate Events ? What
There was another time when my partner and I were set to go to a tournament, but we both had to work the first day, so we were a day behind. We left earlt the next morning, got a flat tire. Fixed that, got to the ramp backed the boat in and had a dead battery, had to go get a new one, and got back. we were about a day and 3 hours behind everyone else by the time we started.

What's Your Worst Series Of Unfortunate Events ? What
I was about 15 and my parents dropped me off at a local park where I did all my fishing. It was like my 3rd cast of the day, throwing at a big brush pile. Bait was stuck, couldnt get it out so I tightned the drag and pulled. Felt the bullet weight hit me in the forehead after the line snapped. Only problem was the line didnt snap and it was the hook that was sticking in my head, not a knot from the bullet weight. So I only got like 3 casts in before having to call my parents to pick me back up.

Worst Fishing Condition You Encountered?
Cold wet weather. When its just warm enough that its rain and not snow... Oh that is the worst. Soaking wet in the cold wind. Can't handle it.

Latest Tackle Purchase Thread (Bait Monkey Victim Support Group)
I just made an order yesterday and they sent an email saying that they will make 2 shipments because of backorders. So I assumed they were doing two different orders on mine too. Who knows.

Okuma Concept C3-40X
Anyone use any of these? I have not held one, but I believe there is a store a few towns over that has some. I hear they are sensitive and light but I would really appreciate someone on Bassresource's opinion before i go out and spend that kind of money on a rod. Anyone tried them?

Setup For Hair Jigs
Thats another thing, hahaha. When do you decide you need a trailer on it and when do you not? I really havent used them much. The one time I used them was about 3-4 years ago at night, i used a black hair jig without a trailer and caught 4-5 fish quick before i lost it. I got the punisher jigs. I thought if i did put a trailer on it, it would probably be a small 3" beaver type bait.

Centrifugal Braking
Dont be afraid of Centrifugal Brakes. Its easy. Once you set it you dont really have to worry about it. I personally prefer the Centrifugal Brakes, but its because that is how I started. First 5-6 reels had them. But really, its not too bad.

Setup For Hair Jigs
The jigs i got were 3/16 oz and 1/4 oz. I will probably go and get some more that are 1/8 oz. Dont really do a lot of Winter fishing, but plan on using them in high pressured waters, middle of the summer, and cold fronts. Just want to add another tool to the arsenal.

Setup For Hair Jigs
I just put in an order for quite a few hair jigs and really not sure what to throw them on. I am assuming it would be better to throw them on spinning gear, and I am looking to get a new spinning set up. Any suggestions of Rod power and action. And maybe suggestions of specific rods? What about reel size? Line? Thanks pals

Medium Or Medium Heavy For Topwater?
I would use a Medium for most topwaters except for a Big spook or a frog.

You can never have too much tackle.

Pet Bass
I loved reading all yalls stories here. Very interesting stuff.

Powder Paint?
I started with a cheap lighter but quickly gave that up. If you use the lighter or a candle, if the flame touches and scorches the lead it will not turn out right. If you are doing quite a few I would suggest to invest in a heat gun. It makes it SOOOOO much easier. Its really trial and error with time. I would start with 12-15 seconds and if you need to add time go for it. If it gets too hot, the lead will take up too much paint and when curing it, the paint will start to drip. Also, if you put a layer of paint on the jighead and it doesnt turn out shiny you can just hold it over the heat source again and it should melt a bit more. Curing will also help some of this. Hope that made since and helps.

Jig Organization
How do you organize your jigs? By weight? Color? Skirt Material? Jig Head Style? All of the above? I love just sitting around and organizing my stuff, whether its plasics, crankbaits, or jigs. Anyone else do this? Put some pictures of your jig organization system if you have some. Would love to see yalls stuff!

Breakable Split Rings
They would for sure be a good idea with those high price baits. I dont fish those super high priced baits. I have a few lucky Craft, but I dont worry too much about if they get lost. Just make sure when you get the Smart Link rings, get some that are a few lbs less than your line or the line will snap before the hooks break away

Frog Colors/styles
I started off using a Spro Frog in Albino White and one in Green Tree. I have caught more fish on the Albino White one than any other frog or color. I just use the basic frog and cut about an inch off both legs. That is how I started. Then they added the Popping frogs to the lineup and now the Bronzeye Shad. There are a bunch of different brands of frogs, whether it be Spro, Booyah, Strike King and a bunch more. I personally started with the Spro and kinda got hooked on them. I have some booyah cause they are a bit nicer on the wallet, but I still feel more comfortable with the Spro on the end of the line. Like any question on here you will find that everyone has a favorite brand and color. A LOT of people swear by the color black on a frog. I have done really well with white. To just start off though, I would get 3 regular type frogs. One with a white belly, one with yellow and one with black. The belly color is really the only thing that matters with the color, since that is the only part that shows up under water. Anyway, hope this helps. Any questions let me know. I know there are some people who are much better frog fisherman than me so I hope they post something too. Good luck and enjoy the fun frog fishing experience

Terminal Tackle Boxes
I keep all my hooks, weights, swivles, clips, stuff like that in a 3700 Plano, and all of my jig heads/shakey head in a 3600. Its worked for me thus far.

Ultralight Basser
I use an ultra light when im on float trips. I have a 4'8" Uglystick. It doesnt have great sensitivity, but I tend to throw tiny brush hogs and those small rebel crawdad crankbaits. Those little rebel crankbaits catch A LOT of fish. I will throw little Mepps, 2" grubs, and roostertails too. Just small stuff. You will catch Blue gill and crappie too.

Bps Reel's
I got one of those about 10 years ago. It was my 2nd baitcasting combo. The reel quit working, just locked up on me about a year after getting it. Took it back and they gave me store credit and I got a citica for like $30 more. The rod was a "Qualifier" not a "Pro Qualifier" Luckily, I wanted a 6'6" M and they had none in stock so they gave me a rain check. I went back a few weeks later and they said they didnt have the rods anymore so I could go pick out an Extreme or Bionic Blade. I ended up spending like $100 all together to get an extreme rod and Citica. Both still in use.

First 2 Baits Out Of Your Panic Box?
I think most of us have read Ike's article about his "Panic Box". I have not made a panic box, but there are some baits I will throw when I feel like nothing elses is working. For me its an 1/8 oz T-Rigged Lil Critter Craw or a 4" Centipeed on an 1/8 oz Spot Remover, both fished super slow. Ive caught so many fish on those baits its crazy. If there is a cold front or nothing else is working, what do you take out to boat a few bass?

Uses Of A 6'6"-7' Medium/ Fast Baitcasting Rod.
I use my original Ardent and 6'6" M/F Extreme with spinnerbaits. Have a 6'6" Vendetta M/F and a 7' M/ModerateFast, that I have thrown squarebills and some topwaters on... The Extremes have a bit more backbone than the Vendettas. Im thinkin maybe I will go with weightless plastics and spooks interchangably. And if I go down to Table Rock this spring I may throw a Jerkbait on it. Still undecided though. Thanks for suggestions, Would love to hear any more if anyone has some more.
