  1. Got a Vendetta a year or two ago from Walmart when they were on sale for cheap. First cast with a weightless senko and that sucker snapped. Im gonna blame it on being from Walmart and someone mishandled it. Also horsing a snag. That was a dumb one. That was about 200 feet down the bank after catching my PB at the time.
  2. Brands match colors of rods and reels to show anglers "Hey, this rod and reel go together, Get both!" Like with the Revo S and Veritas, or SX and Veracity. Or Wright and McGill using yellow and black, and how the Okuma Helios rods and reels use Green and black. Some people like that they have these rods and reels that can match up, some dont care either way.
  3. I enjoy making and assembeling jigs. Its fun to come up with new color patterns. Its even more fun catching a fish on a color you created.
  4. I like the look of the white rods. I like the yellow and orange rods too. I just like things to stand out compared to others. That being said, Im not going to get one of those rods, if I prefer a black or dark green rod. Appearance brings us in, but its not the selling point. I do however think ***'s Trick shop for Tricking out their Reels is pretty awesome!!! Again, its not the selling point, but if you can make the rod and reel look good together, why not?
  5. If its a tough bite or I need a fish in a tournament I will throw the shakey head. Its a limit catcher. If I am looking for a bigger bite or fishing tight to cover I will go T Rig.
  6. I do like how some rods or reels look over others and I think some combos look cool together, but Its not the most important factor. Performance and comfort are tops for me, however if I need a tie breaker I may look at how a rod and reel look together. I have 2 Veriatas/Revo S combos that look pretty rad together, however I am considering switching some stuff around so they are not together. One thing I really like about things like that are how they stand out in the rod box. A white rod and reel stand out A LOT against all the blacks blues and greens, so i can easily find the White if I need it quick.
  7. Gotta be a Manns Jelly worm. They smell so sweet.
  8. If I get another rod I am lookin at something from ***. Starting to really like them...
  9. I just ordered some Kicker Fish Hightail Holeshot Shaky Worms from TW. They have little holes in them that have trapped air or something that keeps those suckers floating pretty well, from what I have seen. I have yet to use them, but I have had good luck with other Kicker Fish worms. They are also injected with JJs magic which I like, so I am stoked to give them a go. I would also suggest Charmer Baits.good baits. Its a small company but they make very . They are made without salt so they float very well yet feel like the normal plastic unlikethe elaztech. I was fishing a tournament last spring having a crazy hard time getting my last 2 fish in the boat. Tried quite a few baits, but this was the one that got my last 2 fish in the boat. Love the Charmers. I would suggest them.
  10. I do similar. If I am taking someone fishing I really really want them to catch some fish to have fun so 90% of the time I will give them a 4" Green Pumpkin Senko rigged weightless. A 1/4 oz Chartresuse White tandem spinnerbait would be good for numbers too
  11. I would agree with most people on here. a 6'6"-7'MH rod is probably one of the most all around versitile rods you can get. Then you will be able to throw darn near anything on your two combos. You said you want 2 combos... Are you fishing from the bank or a boat? Kentucky and Barkley are very well known for their ledge fishing. if you are fishing from a boat I would suggest a decent sized cranking rod and a low speed reel for deep cranking to hit the ledges. If you are not fishing from a boat you may just want two 6'6"-7' MHs. Thats what I would do anyway. Kentucky and Barkley are two of my favorite lakes. YOu are lucky to get to fish those jokers. Based on the fact you are fishing both, I would assume you are somewhat close to Paducah. If you can get out to Gander Mountain you may wanna check out the *** *** Black rods. They are a great value.
  12. Yamamoto has a 3" crappie swimming senko that may be good for your Skunk Repellent box. You may also want to put in some Ned rig stuff. Z-Man has a 2 and 3/4" bait made for the ned rig that may also be good for ya.
  13. I was told by a guide once that the $99 Lews reel is all you need. That being said, I was informed the BB1 was the top seller at one tackle shop. That shop also quit selling all other baticasters but Lews, since they outsold everything else by far. I dont think they have a bad reel, so go for whichever you are most comfortable with.
  14. I am actually making a crawdad trap out of 3 Liter soda bottles. I'm gonna put it out in the water and see what I get, a day or two before I go fishing. I figure it will really help me dial in on the colors, it will also help me customize a few jigs that may help me really beast the bass in the lake
  15. I actually just started doing this as well. So far I have quite a few hair jigs. Then I put in a roostertail and a few road runners. I am also not too sure about what else I will put in it. Maybe a couple of those little Rebel Crawdad crankbaits, Also a few of the Booyah Pond Magic spinnerbaits.
  16. I just sent Yo-Zuri America a message on facebook asking if it was still in production, since i Couldnt find it where I previously had found it. This was their response. " Yes--you can find everything currently available on Amazon, and TW as well as a variety of other retailers throughout the US and Canada." Online it is!
  17. Daiwa has their Light and Tough series of rods that are pretty dang nice and fit what you may want. I have the 7' Crankin rod that i LOVE and use on the Ledges at Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. As for their Flipping stick, they have one that is 7'6" and Teliscopic. They also have a 5 year warrenty, which should put away your durability concerns. I want sure if they still made them, but they are available through Dawia. I would really suggest them.
  18. One superstition I have is that if I see a Bald Eagle I will stink it up the rest of the day. I can not seem to catch a fish after i see one. I love seeing Bald Ealges, but I try not to look into the air when someone says they are around.
  19. Favorite reel I have is Team Daiwa Advantage. It is a sweet reel. I wish I would have gotten a few when I got mine.
  20. They have plenty of the clear on ***, but Only 6#,8#, and 25# in Green. And 6# and 8# in the Smoke color. It was just a little bit of a shock to me. I had always gotten it at Bass Pro and I was shocked when I didnt see it. Was lookin for some 12# and 10#. I guess I will have to go with the Clear. Oh well.
  21. A few years ago I tried yo-zuri Hybrid cause I wanted to try something new and thought the copolymer was interesting. Anyway, I LOVED the stuff. IT was all I used for a few years. I noticed quite a few people on here like it a lot too. I decided last year to try a year of fluorocarbon since a lot of people on here seem to use it for nearly everything. Wanted to give the Fluoro a fair shot. Well, I wanted to go back to Hybrid and I am about out but I couldnt find it the other day at Bass Pro or Academy. Cabelas, Gander Mountain, and DSG dont have it on the websites either. Lastly, *** does not have much variety and its on sale (which seems like that means its closeout sometimes) They had A LOT of different tests on there for the 25 days of Christmas but they have since taken those off the list of available line. Is Hybrid no longer available? Are they coming out with something new? Kinda bummed when I was relying on picking a bunch of it up soon for next season.
  22. Both should work. I would probably use the one with more backbone. I use a MH for frogs all the time. I dont fish anything that makes me feel like I need to get a heavy. But you will figure out if you need that after you use the rods.
