  1. i have put silicone skirts in for replacements, but no worms. Thats an interesting idea. Would love to hear how it works
  2. I agree with Smallies24/7 in really likeing the ***. I have 2 Veritas' and an *** (Dont have a Ghost and havent fished one). I like my Veritas Rods but I feel like the *** is the better of those two rods. And being a similar price, I would go with an ***.
  3. A friend of mine has lead melting pot. Hes done some of his own, so Im gonna use his at his place. Thanks yall. Im gonna get a toaster oven and do my own powder painting. Thanks everyone.
  4. Im thinking about getting a lead melting pot and some Do-It Molds to create some of my own jigs, but I'm not sure yet. Have a few questions and figured yall are the best place to go ask. First... I live in a 2 bedroom apartment. No Garage and no basement. Those would be the typical places I would consider putting a lead melting pot. Not sure if it would be safe with fumes or lead dust floating around the small apartment. I am also not sure if that is an issue or not. Is it a possibility to go outside and plug it in and do it on my porch, then when the lead all dries bring it in and put it in the spare bedroom? Also, I was going to use the powder paint. So to cure it I was thinking it would be best to get a little toaster oven and put it in that to cure, rather than use my food oven. Are those feasable ideas or should I wait until I have an actual garage and a home of my own? Just trying to be safe. Thanks in advance, fellas.
  5. Looking for a rod for Finesse Jigs. I have a 7'3" MH *** that I love but its a bit too stiff for throwing the 1/4 oz and 3.8 oz jigs. Would a Medium *** work? Or should I look at something else? Any suggestions?
  6. So, are yall fishing the Rage blade like any other jig? Just kinda with a drag, stop, and twitching? Or are you contantly reeling, but super slow? Or do both work??? I just got a couple and going to the lake in a few days. Thanks yall
  7. I have some of the exceler spinning reels and they are golden
  8. Do yall actually hook it into the tubing or just slide the hook through the hole of the tube? if that makes sense. Can someone post a picture?
  9. I have a light and tough Crankbait rod, wish they still had them so I could get another. I think that rod will probably serve you very well. As for the Reel, I did really well with frogs the past few years with a Citica that has a 6.1 gear ratio. But I understand the need for higher gear ratio. I ended up getting a Curado for cheap. I have 2 Revo S reels and a Revo Winch and LOVE them all. I dont see how you can go wrong with a Revo, and the Revo SX has a 7.1 gear ratio. Sounds like a pretty great combo to me. Wish I had one.
  10. Lobster/Craw- T-Rigged with a 1/8- 5/16 oz bullet weight. Smokin Rooster- T-Rigged with a 1/4 oz bullet weight. Menace- 1/4 oz shakey head, pitched into pretty thick cover 10" Anaconda- T-Rigged 1/4-1/2 oz bullet weight. Every Fish I have caught on the Smokin' Rooster has been 3+ lbs. I think my favorite Rage Tail story I have is one night I was fishing a 10" Anaconda, caught a fish and when I looked at the worm after releasing the fish, realized he had tied the tail in an overhand knot. Crazy fish.
  11. I really like tennis racket grip. Wilson Pro OverGrip works really well. Its pretty cheap, doesnt bulk up the rod handle, adds a nice soft grip the the rod and doesnt take away from the feeling. YOu can find the overgrip in different colors too, which can make it easier for finding a rod in a rodbox too. I use it on all my rods and cant stand the feeling of a cork handle anymore.
  12. maybe I will go back and get one
  13. I actually just saw some of the jigs at walmart. I picked one up but decided against paying 3.75 for a jig. Looked really nice though.
  14. I started off fishing for bass on a 6' M Spinning Rod and caught a bunch of fish! I think my most productive bait was a green pumpkin or watermelon red Baby Brush Hog. Used 2/o Gamakatsu hooks with a 1/8 oz bullet weight. I would definiatly have some of those in your bass box. I would also look at a 1/4 oz chartresuse/white booyah tandem spinnerbait. You will catch a lot of fish on one of those as well. Those are two of the baits I will throw if I am having a rough day and need a fish to build a bit of confidence. Both will do well on a spinning rod as well. Also look at some Spot Remover jig heads (with the spring, not the thing you jam the bait onto) and put a zoom finesse worm on there. Cast it out, shake it, hop it and drag it slowly. You will catch some fish on that as well. Good Luck!
  15. Thanks guys, the advice is much appreciated!
  16. Make sure you have slack line. Without slack line it will not walk. But sometimes a chugging action is what the fish want
  17. Its stiff, but I like it. I can cast pretty decently with a 5/16 oz jig. Im a big fan of the 7' MH. I was so happy with my first that i got a 2nd
  18. Thanks WIGuide. I will give it a shot. I have a few MH, so I will do that.
  19. what kind of rod would you recommend? Since I havent used a swimbait I really dont know what I am looking for in a swimbait rod.
  20. I have not thrown swimbaits, really at all. But I recently learned that someone was beasting a nearby Lake on a 5" Swimbait and a 3/4 oz weight. I dont have any Heavy action rods and not sure I want to throw it on any of my favorite MH rods that are normally rigged up with something I will for sure be using like a jig or brush hog. I have a 7' MH BPS Crankin Stick, but not sure if that will be good for a swimbait. Its lure rating is 3/8 to 1 1/2 oz. The Lure rating is perfect for the swimbaits, but not sure if the rod is a suitable rod for swimbaits. I know its great for crankbaits and spinnerbaits. I would assume it would be good for the swimbaits, but since i have yet to really throw a swimbait I would like yalls advice. Is this rod a decent rod for the swimbaits? Thanks homies
  21. I throw Green Pumpkin and Watermelon Red more than anything else. I like Okeechobee Craw a bit too.
  22. the regular is still very strong? I see most people just talking about the single
  23. For those of you who tie the San Diego Jam, do you put the line through the hook eye once or twice? I have read good things about it with Flourocarbon and wanna give it a go. I have been practicing a bunch on some line I am about to change, but wanna get it right. Thanks Yall
