I too am a certified Airframe & Power Plant Mechanic as well as a Manufacturing Engineer. 1) You will not be able to use solid rivets on the top rail of the boat due to fact you can't access the rivet tail. 2) Pop rivets will hold but not very well. 3) My suggestion would be to weld the plate thus solving the problem for ever. My prime baits when fishing any structure are a Texas Rigged Worm, a Texas Rigged Craw Worm, & a Jig-N-Craw. I will not leave that piece of structure until I have toughly fished it with all three.

I'm in the same gang with flechero I night fish 80% of the time & line watching isn't possible, I can feel most bites many people never feel. Even when I fish in daylight I don't totally rely on sight. Your worm or jig can fall into an indention on the bottom moving your line enough to give the impression of a pick up. Don't get me wrong I don't totally ignore my line but I don't have to stare at it either. With a Texas Rig, Carolina Rig, or Jig-N-Craw you had better be aware of what your lure is doing at all times; both when moving or sitting still.

Fish the same baits, same locations, and same techniques you would during the day. The only thing different I add to my repertoire at night is a Q-Beam!

Locating where fish are holding on structure is my biggest strength; next years of night fishing has taught me to feel bites most people would never see or feel.

Copper Azole is an antifungal and will not cause aluminum to corrode; therefore wrapping Wolmanized® wood will not cause any harm. The sealant between the wood and aluminum is to stop any rubbing from taking place exposing the aluminum to the environment. To address jbrooks9 question about a trolling motor bracket, us a minimum of 1/8 (0.125) aluminum plate, fabricate it in an L shape, weld it to the front & side rail of the boat.

During the Fork trip y'all were in the right location but the timing was off due to the erratic weather conditions. While my personal best was caught during pre-spawn I've caught a larger numbers of big bass during non-spawn conditions when the bass are more predictable. A quick review of my records show the best months were May, the end of June/the start of July & August.

I absolutely love low water conditions; it's an excellent opportunity to learn the available structure and cover. For lures I use a Texas Rig with a heavy weight or a heavy Jig-N-Craw and attack the thickest cover. A quality flipping stick, a reel with a strong drag system, & braided line are all requirements. The key to fishing thick grass or brush is a near vertical presentation, remain in contact with bottom, and hold on tight.

Underwater islands, mounds, or humps are a deep water angler's delight; these spots are especially productive when power is being generated at the dam, causing a current in the reservoir. Bait fish will gather on the upper end of these mounds and the bass will bunch up to feed on them. When located near a creek or river these areas can be your big bass hole. A tail spinner or Rat-L-Trap fished across these areas or a 7 to 8 worm can fill your stringer quickly. Position your boat shallow and fish deep with Texas Rigs or Jig to find the bigger bass. Submerged bridges are excellent holding areas for big bass, many times these bridges have been blown when the lake was built, creating structure in the form of pilings, concrete rubble (rock piles). This form of deep structure can be a summer and winter glory hole. Outside bends of a river or creek are common hangouts for deep water bass. Because of the water flow in the river or creek a ridge has been formed on the outside of the bend. Find the point of these ridges; anchor the boat in 12' to 18, cast deep with Texas Rigs or Jig to find the bigger bass. Spots where two creeks intersect or where a feeder creek intersects with the main river are areas experienced deep water anglers seeks. Inside the Y created by the intersection is where you want to anchor the boat in 12' to 18, cast deep with Texas Rigs or Jig to find the bigger bass. In winter months fish these areas with jigging baits in 20 to 30' of water. Submerged roadbeds should never be overlooked, locate these on a topographic map, then pinpoint with your depth finder. These are common migration routes to and from spawning areas in the spring, they also hold feeding bass in the summer. Seek out 12 to 18' depths where a sharp drop off occurs on each side of the roadbed. Fish plastics or deep running crank baits across these roadways. Ideal spots are where two roads junction or where the road makes a noticeable turn.

I WOULD BET YOU WOULD NOT EAT THAT SAME FOOD FOR AWHILE, until your forgot about it." I caught a 4 pound bass on a Texas Rig but I couldn't get the hook out so I cut the line near the hook eye; the line was dark blue Berkley Big Game. 3 days later I caught a nice chunky 4 pound bass upon opening its mouth low and behold there was a hook with dark blue line on it. I still couldn't remove the previous hook so once again I released the bass. 4 days later I again caught this nice little chunk, again upon opening this bass's mouth there was the same hook with the same blue line, but this time I had a hook removal tool. That was the same bass caught 3 times in 7 days on the same bait; that aint to smart, and yes I had the same witness all 3 times who is willing to testify under oath that it was in fact the same bass with the same hook. So maybe you could explain why this bass could not display the ability of deductive reasoning?
