A good inexpensive fast action tip rod.
If at all possible I would look at your near by Academy for two reasons; the have an excellent selection of Allstar, Castaway, American Rodsmith, & Falcon rods and they have an excellent return policy. I will bring my reel, attach it to the rod, tie on the bait I intend use with this rod & if the store owner says anything I politely walk out the front door never returning again. However this will not be a problem at any Academy

What screws & bolts for aluminum boats?
When you drill a hole in aluminum, the inside of the hole does not have a protective coating, adding a stainless steel fastener will cause corrosion; it could take years to cause a problem or months depending on the quality of the aluminum. The solution is to install the fasteners wet, coated with a sealant such as paint or any thing to stop the galvanic corrosion. Now some believe its overkill and not necessary but when I build some thing its permanent.

Fishing in Thunderstorms?
Fishing during rain is fine because the bass don't mind getting wet; now a lighting storm is the quickest way to find out how fast a boat ya got!

Aggressive bass
By the same token if I begin top fishing in shallow water then find out 4 hours later that bass were aggressive in deep water, then I undoubtedly lost 4 hours of prime fishing time. At the same time one must consider what is meant when you use the term shallow; it is a well know fact that I prefer fishing main (deep) lake structure and on the main lake shallow water could be 8-12 foot. When most people refer to shallow water they are usually referring to bank shallow out to maybe 10 foot. When looking far aggressive bass I prefer to look offshore since these bass live in deeper water on average and they are less affected by weather conditions thereby being more aggressive overall then their bank shallow cousins.

What screws & bolts for aluminum boats?
Dissimilar Metals: When two different metals are in contact in a corrosive environment, one of the metals experiences accelerated galvanic corrosion while the other metal remains galvanically protected. Galvanic corrosion can be rapid when aluminium alloy is placed in proximity to stainless steel in a wet environment. To stop Galvanic corrosion between two dissimilar metals a thin layer so some type of sealant is required.

How old do you have to be to get a sponsor???
The only limits are the ones you place on yourself Start out at the local level; my first sponsors (some still are) were local Tackle Shops, Grocery Stores, Mechanic Shops, Constructions Companies, Doctors, Lawyers, & friends. I agree with flyphisher; be aware you will be humiliated in every way possible, what flyphisher said will be mild by comparison.

loweline bass boat
Are you talking fiberglass or aluminum? The original Loweline Hustlers were fiberglass Bomber style hulls with stick steering, Lowe's boats are aluminum.

where to mount trolling motor for the jon boat?
Buy the biggest trolling motor you can afford you will not regret it; where you mount it really doesn't matter if you have enough thrust.
-
Running gas out of engine
It depends on how long the motor will sit between trips; a day or 2 no problem, a couple of week's problem.

- Fish on the top of the water
Schooling bass or feeding frenzy is the same thing, bass in large number chasing bait fish, keep in mind not all schools will be large fish and you can waste hours chasing dinks. Yea it's exciting and some times productive for nice keepers but most generally it's a lot of smaller bass. If one wanted to chase schoolies try throwing a Little George letting it drop through the school in hopes of catching any larger bass hanging out below the school. Another lure would be a clear colored Ting Torpedo, Baby Spook, or Pop-R. - Fish on the top of the water
