Avid, Since Thanksgiving to now I've not be able to fish Toledo Bend because of medical problems in my immediate family. I have not been on Toledo Bend since March; my fishing is limited to Lacassine Wildlife Refuge which is a shallow marsh. Fishing a marsh limits where you can cast to start with and this wind cuts that in half. This much wind is not usual for Southwest Louisiana, so I'm still trying to crack it with only limited success. All the big bass I've caught recently has been with a Texas Rigged Worm with a 1/8 oz weight; try casting that in a 20-25 mph wind. I've tried going with a heavier weight but that only buries your worm in the grass. Top water bite has been nil & void, I can cast a Senko a mile with this wind but the bass will not touch it. So what bass I've been catching has been on a 3/16 oz Stanley Spinner Bait or a ¼ oz Rat-L-Trap.

Where does this belief come from that just because you're throwing live bait you'll automatically catch fish? Like trolling put the rod in the rod holder and drive the boat, fish on Ever try it? I have for bass, stripers and in salt water you can spend hours just riding around never catching a thing. I say you brag all you want

The name brand slips my mind at the monument but there is commercial grade glue which comes in a tube like caulking. I would glue the wood to the bottom of the original seat and the when you install the seat through bolt it instead of using screws.

I've had success with the Okeechobee Craw color which is green pumpkin on the top & sapphire blue on the bottom. I fish it on a 3/16 oz spot remover jig around semi-sparse Hydrilla & timber.

Tournament anglers & Big Bass anglers are both skilled at what they do but both do they same thing I've said since my first post. They go fishing when they can, they fish with baits they have confidence in, & they let the chips fall where they may. Take these simple elements of knowledge, bass strike a bait more often out of reaction than hunger, bass like cover of some type, bass relate to structure what ever it is. The human tendency is to respond to failure and frustration by the over-complication rather than simplification of technique and theory.

Since then I've fished in & won tournament against the likes of George Jeane Sr & George Jeane Jr of Evans, LA; David Truax of Beaumont, TX; Mike Metcalf of Center, TX; Mike Bono Sr and Mike Bono Jr of Lake Charles, La; Dickey Newberry Houston, TX; John Gunnels from Kingwood, Tx Yea I only fish Toledo Bend but I know far a fact the Bass Master & FLW fish the same lake over & over. The pros don't just go into a new lake cold, example in 2001 the first year KVD ever seen Toledo Bend he was on the lake for over a month prior to the tournament start. Give me a month pre-fishing a lake and I can compete with any body. Why aint I fishing Pro will I'll use your comparison to baseball, you can't get drafted in Pro Bass Fishing. Back in 1974 nobody had sponsors like the millions of dollars available to today's pros. Ok here we go Rick Clunn, KVD, Bill Dance, etc. are not gods they have bad days just like the rest of us. They go fishing any time they can, using the techniques they have confidence in, fish area they believe hold fish & they let the chips fall where they may. It's like when a customer comes in to Academy asking to see a Fish Finder, I tell them they are on aisle 3, they say no the are not they are behind me on the self. I then say no sir that's depth finders; a fish finder is what you tie to the end of your line. You can't turn one of those on and it'll go find a fish; but that worm, spinner bait, or jig can

I've seen days & nights where if you were not throwing a particular color you were not getting bit. I've also seen days & nights where you had to change colors after catching one or two on a particular color or you would not get bit.
