Bass eating crawdads... Help??
To farther answer your question a bass will usually attack from above and swallow the crawfish tail first. If the bass were to swallow the crawfish head first the claws would easily stick the bass in the throat. Just as GMAN mentioned about bait fish, the bass swallow them head first so the fins don't lodge in the bass's throat. As for the lure you are designing with the line attachment in the rear it would not be in the way. I use a lot of Texas Rigged Craw Worms; the line is in the rear, the same with a jig-n-craw. As for size crawfish vary from 2 immature to 6 mature being normal.

Bass eating crawdads... Help??
It really depends on the size of the crawfish; well the size of the crawfishes claws A bass will not attack an adult crawfish head on when the crawfish is in a defensive posture period. The bass will wait until the crawfish moves thus lowering its claws or the bass will circle attacking from the rear.

Warm Weather for a change. Tactics?
After about 2 days of warm weather I will go back to the patterns that were working prior to the cold front. If you were not on the water prior to the front then start looking for early pre-spawn bass in staging areas

Line watching
I've night fish 7 months of the years for the last 35 years so I'm accustom to not watching my line; night fishing has heighten my since of feel far beyond normal anglers. Even when I do fish during day light hours my partners accuse me of not paying attention to my line. Yet while they are chewing me out about my lack of line watching I'm setting hook; they usually just shake the head in disgust. I probably watch my line 10% of the time and most of this occurs on the initial drop.

Whats your best post frontal cold weather tactic
The Sabine River Authority list full pool at 172 however the normal lake level is 169-170; the reason for the changes is SRA has both generators working 24/7. The lake level is completely controlled by the SRA and their contracts to generate electricity. Will the level be at full pool by March God only knows because the SRA will continue to generate until the meet their goals or the lake level falls below 165. I can tell you after 35 years on the lake it will be high for the spawn (late Feb-April), it always is. So if you are planning to fish spawning bass be ready to fish thick buck brush and button willows.
