I do a lot of fishing in rural areas, even Toledo Bend is. There ain't NAPA stories everywhere, there are Wally Worlds everywhere.

Several times I've caught the same bass, off the same bed, with the same white lizard two days apart. I've had bass break me off in brush, couple hours later caught the same bass with my worm & hook in its mouth.

@LrgmouthShad I've been fishing that Island since 1984. Found it through map study but really got to know it after countless hours graphing & casting. The island & the land behind it is actually one point. When the lake was flooded it created the island. There are two creeks one on the east side (to the right) & one on the west side (to the left). Three well defined point & a road bed. The south & east side has a mixture of Hydrilla, Milfoil, & stumps. The whole area has a fairly firm sandy/clay bottom. The bass move up out of both creeks to feed on shad & bream. Right from the first time fishing it I was catching nothing under 3#. Can't tell y'all how many 7-9# bass came off that island. My biggest was a 10.3# but I lost one was probably bigger than my PB of 12.5#. If y'all notice the purple line at the bottom that's a boat lane running towards the main lake & is where you turn into Hurricane Bayou. It will surprise y'all how many people blow by that island at 70 mph. The ones who do stop head straight for the bank ignoring everything else. Do I catch everytime, no but its one of the places I check out 2-3 times a day or night.

@Tennessee Boy Here's my reason for confidence in a worm. #1 Most Productive Lure Doug Hannon's Answer Plastic Worm (Texas rigged) It's a long, thin shape resembles the profile of a wide variety of forage in the world of the bass, including earthworms, snakes, eels, and baitfish. Its action is almost entirely dependent on the contours of the bottom; and the rod movements of the fisherman, making it very random. It moves with little noise; the noise that it does make comes mostly from the random clicking of the sinker as it hits bottom. Bright colors and larger size can be used to increase its attracting qualities. Because of its basic resemblance to a wide array of living forage, this lure presents very few negative cues, and is hard for big bass to learn not to hit. Here is the official answer: Studies have proven that the plastic worm is the only lure made that a BASS CANNOT REMEMBER! That is, a bass will continue to strike a worm even after repeated catches, whereas a bass will "turn off" to other lures, spinner baits and crank baits etc. after wearing them out on them. That's why you cannot continue to catch them on your honey hole with the same lure over and over. Bass will stop eating that which will eradicate them. Not true with the plastic worm, however. Can someone explain why I shouldn't throw #1?

Suggestion: add a Zoom Swimmin Chunk. Thread it on like the spoon below. When Uncle Josh made their swimming chunk I used that.

There's a resentment against young anglers who Livescope & y'all think there's no resentment against females? What guys tell Kristene to her face may not exactly what they say behind her back. The damage done back in 70s left a lasting impression.

@Tennessee Boy yeah I highly doubt I would throw that many times at one log unless i knew Nadine lived there.

@gimruis The female anglers got the message load & clear that they would not be accepted by male anglers.

Some of y'all need to do some research. I would suggest Bass Fishing Archives as a starting point. Bais against female anglers during the 70s was extremely high & is still quite high.

Not to stir the pot but quite a few men couldn't handle being beat by a woman. This bias closed a lot of doors. Another friend of mine is Diane (Reel Women) Johnson. Very successful tournament angler who sadly had to retire to take care of her husband.

There are quite a few women who are/were very successful. One I personally know is Ann Thomasson-Wilson owner of Ann's Tackle in Jasper Texas. Ann was a pioneer in the professional fishing ranks as the sport began to take shape in the early 1970s. In 1988 and 1989, she reached the pinnacle as she won the title of Woman’s World Bass Champion.

This is the kind of spots I camp out on. That island just happens to be where Kyoya Fujita camped out to win the Bassmaster Elite event.
