Beam width is the measurement across the top of the boat & has little to do with how stable a Jon boat is. Bottom width is the part of the boat that is actually in the water & is key to Jon boat stability. I fish Toledo Bend out of a Alweld 1652VJT 16' length 52" bottom with a Tohatsu 40 hp. I don't try running the main lake, I know where every public boat launch is & simply trailer to where I wanna fish.

I would look at areas near the headwaters, these areas will muddy first & clear up first. Many times small pockets/coves will remain clear in the back especially if there's a decent amount of vegetation filtering the water.

Ambidextrous: a person able to use the right & left hands equally well. I've mentioned this recently in another thread, y'all need to watch the Pros on YouTube. Most of them switch hands but are capable of using either hand. KVD, Hackney, Grigsby are three I watched yesterday, all of their reels have the handle on the right side. Guess they ain't to concerned with time wasted switching hands.

Totally changes how I approach cold muddy water. In this situation I would look for "clearer" water. No necessarily clear water, just clearer water.

"expectation", refers to the act of expecting or anticipating something. I fish waters with extremely heavy cover, losing lures is a normal expectation.

You can have lures in your tackle box or bass in the livewell, you can't have both. When I buy any lure its with the exception its gonna break or I'm gonna lose it. I it catches 1 bass it has done its job.

Again I don't have spring lures, summer lures, fall lures, or winter lures. I have bass fishing lures! Now I do have summer, winter, spring, & fall locations. Southwest Louisiana & Southeast Texas is late spawn to post spawn. Pretty much everything is in play but the Frog bite is gradually increasing. A warm winter has some vegation close to matting out...enter the punch rig.

Everywhere 😉 Extremely effective around & though grass. Add a Zoom Swimmin Chunk as a trailer, I like white or chartreuse.

Again knowing your limitations is critical, I fish Toledo Bend out of that boat. I know I ain't gonna be able to run WOT in rough water. I know I'll have stay off the main lake when its windy. I know pretty much every boat launch on the lake & will trailer to my destination.

What is impressive to me is every lake in Texas is man-made & had very little brood stock to start with. They're all stocked by ShareLunker & to see the various bodies of water producing this class of fish. O.H. I've is stupid with big bass!

I would be willing to bet this trait was installed in us by our parents. My Mother & Farther lived through the Great Depression, my Dad fought in WWII. If they left my two brothers & I anything it was a strong work ethic. We were often told, "if you start it, you finish it".
