Once again 😉 The Jig is one of the most productive lures for fishing heavy cover of any type known to anglers. The Jig is one of the most productive lures for catching larger than average bass. But despite its pure awesomeness the angler must keep in mind there will be days when the bass simply do not want a jig. So to all the young anglers (not chronological but experientially) struggling when casting, flipping, pitching, or punching with the Awesome Jig keep in mind there will be times when the Jig aint gonna be that AWESOME.

Some of older guys fished with braided cotton which was white. If your body of water has any vegetation or brush the bass will not notice your line. Ya might wanna brighter color lure

When you got more years behind ya than ahead you think about life deferently. The biggest deference today is my fishing partners are sons & grandsons. With age comes limitations, fishing by myself is extremely limited. I think you mentioned owning your own business. Ever consider working 4 tens? 3 day weekends.

I used to be selfish & self centered, fishing 150-200+ days a year. I've fished tournaments with some of the best anglers ever to pick up a rod. I've caught 35 double digit bass across 5 states. Thirty something years ago I realized all of that fails in comparison to spending with family & friends. I changed my priorities to God, family, & friends my enjoyment of life changed.

Just a dumb Coonass opinion You're a seasoned angler, who is strapped for time on the water. Personal I would select a body of water with a history of producing double digits but is within close proximity to home. Less time on the road equals more time on the water. Florida Is like Texas in that there's plenty body of water that are less pressured than big name ones.

Two choices Pay someone to do all the work for you Or learn how to do it yourself.

I prefer Plum Apple over Plum & Red Bug over both. Why? IDK! The bass here say give me that, so I do.

Sounds to me like your on the right track.

@T-Billy Most anglers try forcing a jig through grass which is all wrong, you gotta finesse the jig through grass! When you feel the jig starting to load up in the grass...stop. Release pressure, pull up until you feel heaviness again but apply slightly more pressure, then release, continue until the jig breaks free. You want the motion to be similar to & as fast as working a shaky head, you're just applying more pressure.
