@BassKat & @WRB I disagree with the thinner line theory on one point. I perfer the additional thickness because that gives me more material to lose to abrasion. I've seen to many times were Big Game had lost 50% of it's diameter & still landed the fish. Most anglers never consider shock absorption which is the lines ability to "stretch" on hookset or when a big fish surges, & then quickly return to its normal diameter. My thought process is stick em first, then figure out how to land them. I respool often because I have no way of determining if there's damage farther up my line.

One of my frog setups is a Lew's TP1 Black & a Lew's LFS SS1SHA 7.5:1. Tacklewarehouse TP1 Black $74.98 LFS SS1SHA $67.48 Daiwa Procyon is another good $80 rod I have 4 Lew's LFS reels that are 6 years old, ain't had a single issue. Suggestion keep these little reels clean, paying attention to the worm gear area.

With the exception of braid I retie way more than that. Even with the San Diego Jam knot you're looking at a foot of line. I make a lot of long casts in heavy cover, there's no way to guarantee me there's no damage anywhere on the line...it's getting changed period! Everyone has their own personal repertoire of confusion that works for them.

So you never retie Flourcarbon? After 4 years of normal retieing hooks or lures you still have a full spool? Interesting 😉

Well! Y'all know my opinion! Berkley Big Game 15# I tried every line mentioned above & none has the abrasion resistance or shock absorption of Big Game. I have zero issues feeling bites on long cast on deep water structure. I have zero issues getting solid hook penetration even with jigs. If it ain't braid you will have issues with memory, I've found the less you fish the worse memory gets. I really liked Maxima Chameleon or Ultragreen, problem was availability. MacCoy Mean Green would be next.

Aluminum Jon either 12' x 42" or 12' x 48" Plastic boats are fine except they have no sides which I prefer with young kids or women. Sides keep kids contained & offers a sense of security for women.

@senile1 That's the deadliest down here in our marshes. To get around you have to run boat trails that are wide enough for one boat.

To this dumb Coonass if ya wanna increase your skill level at catching bass of any size, learn your predominate prey species. Learn what they do morning, noon, & night. Winter, spring, summer, & fall.
