A fish with a big bite!
i wouldnt know what to do with it....... i feel as if i left it in the boat, it may go off..... or if i threw it back, it may go off...... it would straight scare the crap out of me personally. (honestly, i dont think i could have it on board for ten days.... thats just insane.)

Here we go again
no speculation or blah blah blah here.... all i know is that i am barely scraping by as it is........ gas gets seriously expensive as it goes up, and thusly starts to hinder some of my fishing trips (i frequent the FL coast when i can to hit the salt). so it really ticks me off when i cant do what i love. >

Catfish Bait
sounds like it would indeed. but in cat baits i prefer gooey gross things that leave tons of scent. I posted something on cat baits quite some time ago, and the two main things i have used from it were. live bluegill, sunk to the bottom. and chicken liver wrapped up in women's nylons. (it keeps them on the hook nicely, and lets all the great foulness disperse as well.) since then these have been my top producers.... though the livers are much easier to obtain than catching BG's....

Sunday Evening 6/7
nice fish my man..... the colorings are great on it....... and i must say, pics are deceiving.... but that bass does indeed look larger than the average 6#'er.

A sad end for a beautiful bass.......
it was quite disheartening........ especially when the bass had gotten to the size that she attained :-/ but i will say, that it was a quite good meal. im interested mattlures....... how did your biggun kick the bucket??? (was it too much stress, or bad hook/gill injury, etc...) :'(

NO!!!! i don't care at all.... and if you have seen any of my posts that have me and fish in the pic.... you will understand its fishing, get dirty.... who cares.....

Setting the Hook, Med. Light Rod?
gonna be honest on this one...... i didn't read all the posts...... but here's my 2 cents. i as well have a saros (3000).... its paired with a BPS microlite rod (md. lite action)..... i also use 40# suffix braid. the reason i have such a lite rod is mainly bc i love to really fight a fish. I also set my drag extremely light (some might call me straight stupid for how light it is) but its just enough to get a good hookset. i have not yet encountered any trouble setting the hook with this settup. Possibly it is the braided line factor, but all has worked for me thus far. Your gear should be just fine, and you may just need some adjustments for light tackle.

Hook removal must see!!!
ohhhhh....... i don't know if i could of got my pal to let me do that yesterday.......i don't believe he was ready for that!!!!! but it did look nice and quick..... the maker's is a plus as well!!!! and mattlures....... you're a good guy, my hats off to you.

nutritional value of LMB
i would have to assume that lmb would be quite healthy from a dietary perspective.... As all fish are low in fat and high in protein, and the fat they do contain is extremely high in unsaturated fat (and some omega 3, more or less depending on the species). in fact i ate some bass today.... wasnt planning on it, but she died on me..... so i couldnt let her die for nothing. put thruough an egg wash..... then dipped through plain corn meal... panfried in light olive oil to perfection. and slices of raw onion with each piece (and a touch of salt) and... i agree....... d@m* that was good.

A sad end for a beautiful bass.......
Well i suppose i'll start with the fun part of the story. I had just tossed my mystic popr (i wish they still made these, its my best popr by far) along the grass line at my favorite "lunker lake." As i slowly bubbled it by.......BAM.....the explosion happened! This fish absolutely inhaled the lure, it fought like a mad man... it must have taken 8 or 9 thrashing jumps... It was 6lbs on the dot, and it fought like it was twice that size! now for the sad part..... upon returning the tired girl to the water, she was mighty sluggish. Which wasn't a surprise, but she just couldnt get going again. I tried to revive her for about 10 min. before i realized it was all over. There was nothing left i could do. I have never had a bass die on me before, its quite sad! Well my pal and i were really bummed out at the sight to say the least, especially because it was a nice larger size bass. So after a couple of minutes, we decided the only decent thing to do would be to take it home and eat it. Normally, i never condone this...but we could not let her die for nothing!!!!!! so thats just what we did......... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Is matching the forage/hatch species important?

Is matching the forage/hatch species important?
http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1244243266 Mattlures..........the praise that i have recently given to your lures........... one more link below as well that i found at a later time, so i had to modify this one.

Is matching the forage/hatch species important?
Mattlures....... im not trying to cause a dispute.... as i said, i do indeed feel that matching the hatch is a good idea!!! All i am simply stating in my original post is that baits that do not resemble the original hatch will work as well, just likely not as good.... i haven't had the means to obtain high quality lures in my life until recently, thats is why the majority of my bass were taken on other baits...... with that being said, my TW purchase is supposed to be here Fri. with 2 of your hardgills (one male BG, and one red ear sunfish).... there is no doubt in my mind that a chart. buzzbait doesn't look like anything the fish eat, and the point is.... i know that. and there is no doubt that your hardgills do indeed look like something that the bass normally eat....... thats why im so stoked to be able to fish them...... no hard feelings, i love your products... but i do believe you mistook the original meaning of my post.

Kinda a dumb question
i have only dabbled the slightest of bits in fly fishing myself..... but i do know that the flies that i used were ridiculously tiny and light..... seems to me if you have a regular outfit that is equipped to toss these a moderate distance, you'll be ok...... it may not be the best option, or the best action for the flies....... but you will stand a chance nonetheless........ albeit, a smaller one.

returning member
good to have ya, once again... sorry about the furry one :-/

Is matching the forage/hatch species important?
two thoughts on this ive heard...... match the hatch or, throw them something they haven't seen..... for me, matching the natural forage of a fish is a good idea...... but with that being said, i have caught the majority of my bass over my life time with lures that i know look like nothing they normally eat!!!! (like a bass normally preys on a buzzbait with a chart. skirt, please ;D ;D) keep up with it, and once you catch a few fish on it, you'll have your confidence in it.

Some Pics
well..........the fish are all nothing short of amazing.....seems to me that FL isn't the hot spot i thought it was, im going to switzerland!!

ohhhh!!...that looks bad, man............(treble's and fingers don't mix!!!!!)
we got to the VA clinic (he's ex military) at about 12pm, and didn't leave until about 5 45pm. Its was quite an ordeal. When we were both in high school, about 11 yrs ago, i did the same thing while fishing with him. I got the treble of the largest size yo-zuri stuck into my pointer as well.... The whole time he was laughing at me, and heckling me "oh, how could you do that you idiot!!!" He was also saying "just push it through yourself you pansi!!!" ........well needless to say i returned the favor today to him... after laughing endlessly at him i told him the same, "just push it through yourself you pansi!!!!" well today he understood it..........he said "No freakin way man, you weren't lying.....theres no way im pushing this through myself!!!!" 11 yrs down the road, and i got my revenge.

ohhhh!!...that looks bad, man............(treble's and fingers don't mix!!!!!)
Well, today's trip got cut short to say the least!!!! My pal and i went out to cape canaveral to do some surf fishing, but it didn't work out in his favor. We had been wade fishing the coast for only about 15 min. when he hooked into something...... that something ended up being a very large sting ray (about 9-10#'s from my estimate)... It was really odd because the ray came up to the surface to feed on a mirr-o-lure. Any way, he was trying to get the hook out when this happened............ it ruined both our days, but his was much worse
