  1. yup....... large wild shiners, and its a good thing too.... they were really finicky today, between my pal and i, we caught about 15 fish this morning....... and only two were on artificials.
  2. great fish for sure, and one heck of a trip........ the pics are awesome. good job, gotta love the salt fishing!!!!!
  3. its lookin mighty tasty my friend!!!!
  4. well i recently got a new plano tackle bag, and the d@mn stitching came out of it within 5 outings...... i was might ticked..... i didnt want the hassle of taking it back, so i used a little home remedy.. 40lb suffix braid to be exact...... my stitch job sure ain't pretty (as you can see).... but something tells me that it wont rip again
  5. its been a few days to say the least since ive been on the forums here....... as life has been beating me down lately... but i finally got all loose ends tied up and decided to do some fishing today....... the spot, "lunker lake" of course...... the best honey hole around where im the only fishing pressure!!!!! i caught these back to back this morning at around 9-10 am.... the first weighed in at 8 lbs on the dot, and was quite the battler. the second was in the high 4's to low 5's i assume (i didnt bother to actually weigh that one). and was quite scrappy as well. needless to say, im happy....... it was a great day for some fishin!!!!!
  6. ........ya, if you've got 950 to throw around.... then heck, spend it on what you want.......and if you love fishing, then...... sounds like you put your $$$ in the right place.... but as the others said, its up to you whether or not 950 on one combo is worth it.
  7. ?????....... you moved this i see......... let me help you out, check the faq's..... there aren't many "closed topics", but this happens to be one of them. you can find what you need in the faq section... this thread, once again, wont last long though. (not trying to be an @zz, just lettin ya know) ####edit##### just do a search on it.
  8. good story, and glad to hear you could go back for some more fishing....... hooks and hands, bad news!!!
  9. great catches!!! and as well, the first 3 fish you have pictured have an outstanding pattern to them........ gotta love the pretty ones.
  10. thanx fin@tic....... very informative, and just what i was looking for. my next day off, im gonna put some time on it....... and hopefully something good arrises
  11. us floridians know of the bad news that hurricane season can bring!! i lived in s. fl for andrew, and took all the onslaught of '04 (i believe), hurricane charlie and such... in orlando/oviedo area... not looking forward to any hurricane seasons myself, and "hope" that this one wont be bad, but im not holding my breath.
  12. im in winter park, and used to live in the ucf area when i was attending ucf....... but funny that you mention that, bc this pond is in avalon....... just one of the many i have scoped around our area.
  13. thanx for the input so far..... i do "think" there should be bass around, but the sheer depth of this water is baffling. as i fish from shore, a nicely weighted soft plastic or jig may be in order...... i do wish for more opinions, as well. .....and, Black Water, where are you at in orlando?
  14. well in my explorations of new fishing territories the other day i came across an extremely strange body of water to me....... heres what i can tell you. 1. the water is an eerie bright blue/green hue 2. the pond is about 3 to 4 acres in size 3. the water is the most crystal clear i have ever seen!! 4. it is incredibly deep from what i can tell (ill explain the pic below) 5. there were lots of minnows swimming around the shore lines, and i did see numerous amounts of bream/ bluegill type sunfish schooling on shore. 6. i saw no bass, but wonder if there are any?? in the pic below (its not the greatest, but bear with me) you can see the grass exposed in the upper left..... what you are seeing blurred beneath that is cover that is literally at least 15 to 20 underwater, and still dropping rapidly..... i have no idea how deep this gets, but i would say that 50ft or much more would be a fair assumption. it is obvious that this has been man made, but holds tons of fish (just not bass from what i saw). i only had minimal time to scope it out, but need some input from those who may have encountered similar areas.
  15. ahhhhhhh..... as i just noticed your location under the avatar, i do understand where your loyalty stands!!!!!! but, i shall indeed try the firefly on the next trip.

good to have another....... this place is great, and the knowledge of those within...... is simply astounding.
  17. have you had "sweet carolina" ??? just wonder what it is like in comparison, bc i do believe that im sold on this style now.
  18. whippets......... never thought of those as being the all nighter tools..... my main all nighter tool, came from columbia although, those days are long past.
  19. So normally i stick with my whiskeys (by far my fav. in the line of fire waters), with good ole jack on the rocks being the best for me..... but, as i was perusing my local boozy store tonight.... the guy working the floor piqued my interest in the "sweet tea" vodka's that were available...... ive never had these before, and decided to buy a 750 of "sweet carolina". its @ 70 proof. and as i sit here with a tall glass of it on the rocks, it is way to good!!!!!!!!! the taste is amazing, just like sweet tea.... but with the oh so great kick..... ........ this may be a major problem!!!
  20. wow, i didnt quite realize what i was implicating with that comparison...... but your correct, go down in the record books for catching the largest bass that has, and will ever live..... or be filthy rich, beyond my wildest dreams...... im a fisher at heart, but i would certainly take the $$$ although, i would want the fish after the $$$ :'(
  21. highly unlikely, and certainly mostly impossible for that to be true........ the size of LMB seems to have pretty certain limits, although it is true that you can never underestimate nature........ and the SUPER RARE, once in a million years----- genetic freaks that it may produce!!!! so....... i dont believe that it is completely impossible, but the chances of me winning the powerball for 5 consecutive weeks are far more likely
  22. gotta love the stupid heat here in FL summers. the orlando area is getting it real bad as well now.... i d@mn near had a heat stroke while being out the other day, started to feel tingly and light headed............ that was enough, sit down for a moment...... and call it a day.
  23. i havent fished either one, so i have no "personal" input on the matter..... the only info is from hearing things on this site........ most all are negative towards the reaction strike swimbaits, mainly concerned with them running on their sides. if you want to drop a little more $, then i can recommend the mattlures hard gill series...... from personal experience, these baits are truely spectacular...... in appearance, and in action.
