Stringing a new spinning reel
i only fish spinning gear, so heres how i go about it....... im sure others have their own ways, but this hasnt ever failed me..... 1. for spooling braid.... i use a piece of electrical tape to secure the line to the spool, no slippage. put your line with a pencil or such through it so that the line will come off the spool in an overhand manner. line it through the one line guide that is closest to the reel (the largest one) apply pressure with your thumb and index finger while lining the reel. fill spool to nearly its max. 2. with mono, same as braid, with just a couple of exceptions noted here..... ...no tape, just two overhand knots to attach it to the spool. and fill the spool until there is at least 1/8 inch remaining, mono likes to "jump" off of the spool and unravel if it is too full. .....the highlighted areas..... for braid i dont tie a knot, and for mono the knot is not a strong one.......... in my experience, if you ever get down to that point...... your already screwed!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive been fishing for many, many years....... and have yet to reach that point.

Fireline Braid = Great Stuff

Fishing after rain
just my 2 cents on this one, with no real knowledge behind it, except personal experience. ......ive found that about an hour before a storm hits seems to rustle up a few more strikes. .......during the rain (with the exception of lightning) seems about the same as always. ......and immediately after the rain subsides, has produced some of my best fishing this year.

Smoking hot this morning
ya for sure, still an exciting fish to catch... the majority of the one's i hooked were in the 1-possibly 2lb range, with 2 or 3 hitting around 3 to 4 lbs. the jack made my day though, i fish a stupidly light drag, just to hear'em run..... and where im normally at, i dont have to worry about cover....its all open water... so i just let him rip it, then i realized that i was running dangerously low on line, so i had to start thumbin the spool to put the brakes on him. it was great!!

Still on fire

Mattlures' Hard Gill damage
im with speedbead, the epoxy should be fine.... but then again, im no expert either.... sooner or later, Mattlures should find this thread and he's sure to give you the best advice for the lure (obviously).. and i have 2 of the hardgill floaters as well, over time all lures naturally take a beating.

Smoking hot this morning
great day man!!!! wish i hit em like that lately..... i was stoked 2 days ago to catch about 20-25 ladyfish, and one 8 lb jack in the day of wade fishing the indian river in my area. not even comparable to your trip, ....im more than a little jealous.

0-1ft crankbait, ever use?
taken from Uncle Leo.... agreed. personally, i love the baby 1-minus. produced lots of fish for me.
-
When nothing will work what lure do you use?
after that long...... if im still out..... good ole trusty beetle spin is the way to go. i could catch a BG or any panfish on them, and at least its still a fish. and, i have taken many larger bass on them as well. ...their usually a last ditch effort, but i still highly regard them as they have produced literally hundreds of fish for me over the years. ...so say what you will about a crappy 1 dollar beetle spin, i still love em

adventures of a swimbait novice - season 2.
