  1. i feel your pain, and ive always wondered the same thing. im glad you started this thread, good info coming from it.
  2. thanx big mike..... i was totally confused man!!! and,,, by the way..... i know your down the road a few in palm bay, but possibly blindfolded, and if you made the trip...... i might take you to lunker lake, as you wish. either way im down to do some fishin if your in town.... or if im in your area, as we talked about many months ago.
  3. actually i wasnt aware of that!!! thats simply amazing man, and i actually just found your website as well (within the last couple of days)...... i must say, you are one great fisherman!! my hats off to you.. i knew it from this site, but not to the depths that i found on your site!!! dare to say.... one of the best!!!!
  4. well here it is... just put the order in. sorry, im not that good with the computer.... so i cant figure out how to post the link.... oh well... got it in the bargain cave at cabela's its a shimano sahara (500 size) paired with a cabela's fish eagle II 5'6" UL on sale....... 89.98, awesome combo, and still under the 100 mark.. one more attempt at the link.... this may or may not work?? http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0068895124465a&navCount=4&podId=0068895&parentId=cat601359&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat601359&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601359
  5. thanx again to everyone. and bilgerat, yes...... i took her on my BPS microlite rod (md lite power) 6'6" i have noticed that as well, and Mattlures had suggested the same thing in the past. Its possible that the fishery is overpopulated, but i have caught some that are proportional as well....... albeit, not nearly as many though. so i do feel that this may be the situation. although, being postspawn.... this may play a factor as well. but im no expert, i just love to catch them i am willing to bet that with the size of her head, she would have gone well over 10 and possibly into the 11's during the spawn. good one man!! their all different, i promise. im just confused on one thing, whats EFF ELL? (maybe i should know this, but alas ..... im lost) ... and like i said before, next time im at my fathers house in wachula... ill let you know, hopefully we can work it out and do some fishin'....... (i promise im much more equipped, and respectfull than your "deadbeat" partner ;D ;D ;D) ... it'll be good times.
  6. ive always wanted a hand at a sturgeon. and if you hook one on the UL gear, that'll be the most intense experience around :D :D
  7. thanks for the input everyone, ....truly appreciated.
  8. thanx to all!!! ....... nice one... ;D we all know that we want them to look as large as possible though thats how we do it! and.... .... i feel very fortunate to have such an amazing fishery as this one to myself (and one good fishing pal). Im very lucky to have stumbled upon it, and fished it long enough to see its true potential.
  9. sounds like good times to me man.... keep up the good work!
  10. ive recently started to enjoy UL fishing with my buddies poles. Mainly for bream, etc..... and when i hook into bass on the gear its simply amazing!!!! so now im in the market for an UL setup, and i dont like crappy gear.....but yet, i dont want to spend over 100 bucks for the rod and reel, so im kind of in a dilemma. just wondering if you all have any advice or input.
  11. good stuff man!!!! she's touching the fish!!!!!! now thats quality. *******my gf finds fishing completely boring, which is FINE by me.... it gives me my time!!! but on the occasion that she comes with to the pond by the house, no way in hell that she'll ever touch a fish!!!!...... its more than a little ridiculous
  12. nice fish bro......!!!! and they do still look big.
  13. if thats the case still, then i was grossly misinformed when i was turned onto the shop in the first place. either way, he knows the area very well...... and quite honestly, i dont know of any other live bait options remotely close to the area that im in??
  14. ya there definetly are. though i dont have a boat so im not usually looking for them. if im not mistaken though, there is one near the national park i was speaking of (cape canaveral national seashore). right at the entrance of the park there is a cross road (the main fenced entrance, not the admission window area).... if you make a left there, there are access points to the lagoon on the right hand side of the road..... maybe 5 min from the park entrance on that road there is a boat launch area for the lagoon. good luck man... and dont make the mistake that i did before, call the park service to see if the park is open before making the drive. they shut it down for all sorts of reasons with launches and other nasa stuff. but its not just the park, they close down that whole area nearest to it, including the boat ramp area that i was just speaking of. its a major pain in the @zz to make the drive for no reason!!!
  15. 25-30 lb tarpon sound great to me my man!!! good day!
  16. ive always enjoyed my baby-1-minus. its a great bait that gets quite a few hits.
  17. ahhh... i make trips out there quite frequently myself. i usually wade fish the lagoon and enter from the space coast national park. My top producer thus far has been the mirr-o-lure "mirr-o-dine"... the XL size. all the colors that i have seem to be equal in ability, but the red and white always does a little better. my advice, stay away from the soft plastics in that area...... although they do work excellent, you'll need a few bags of them BC of all the d**n puffer fish taking chunks out of them. It got to be too much of a hassle for me, thats why i stick with the hard baits now.
  18. i went out to the old secret "lunker lake" this morning for some quality fishing on my day off. It was a little slow all day really, my pal and i hit the water at about 7:30am. We only managed to catch about 6 fish or so between the two of us, but this one i caught saved the trip for sure!! it was about 8:30 when she hit, and it was hard! She started pulling drag and my heart started pounding. At first i figured the fish to be near 7 lbs while fighting it........ but when it got closer, i knew i had a true lunker on the line..... she hit the scale @ 9.4 lbs. ..........my day off is now complete.
  19. flounder are fun and all (and tasty as well), but im interested...... what kind of sharks did you catch, and how large as well??
  20. WOW....... RoLo....... i must say that this one got pulled up from the depths of the archives to say the least!!!!!!!!!!!! but, i do love the input!! as with my time on BR i have found your posts to be among the most knowledgeable around. so, thank you.... the detailed insight is much appreciated.
  21. also if you want live bait, shiners minnows and such .... go to al's bait and tackle, its a little shop right off of goldenrod.... al is great too, he knows all the local spots....... and sells true wild shiners at decent prices. i love that place, not for anything else inside, but simply for the bait and great knowledge of the area.......... just ask him, and he'll pour it all on ya!! (if he's randomly closed lately, its bc his wife isn't doing so good.... so dont chaulk it up to him not caring about the fisherman)
  22. i use braid all the time now myself. and agree with RoLo.... no leader, in fresh at least..... salt is a different story. everyone has their on personal fav's, but my choice is suffix.
  23. ive only used TW about 3 times thus far, but needless to say, im a believer...... it perfect everytime. and free t shirts on the higher orders are nice as well.
  24. agreed with all, great fish man!!!
  25. oh, man....... seriously, that straight up sucks man. and i feel your pain about not wanting to start something on the water......... you gotta make the best of it, and you dont want some idiot to ruin it (any more than it already was at least!!). so, im wishing the best of luck to you on your next outing...... as i know it will be great, because the straight up ignorant mooch wont be along for the ride.
