darter head question
Bass are stupid. Don't over complicate things. They'll eat anything put in front of them if it's presented right.

Berkley, almost all new rods will handle braid now. The majority are using quality components that will be able to handle without a problem. The major issue in years past was braided line cutting into the guide inserts. With the guides that most major manufacturers are using now, you won't have to worry about it.

Most innovative concept to come out in the last 5 years
Could have been several things. He could have one unit dedicated to depth finder/SI use and another unit used only as a GPS. I've noticed that on a bunch of boats.

Dobyns vs Powell
I only said not to make factual statements based on the previous statements made about , "It's all preference". I'm totally fine with factual statements, but not when they're in the same paragraph as, it's all preference. As you said, balance points can be preference, but I've yet to meet someone that has said they specifically want a tip heavy rod. Most people can agree upon a relatively "good" balance point. Well, I threw in the tip heavy as just another choice. I've never met anybody either, but I'm sure there is somebody out there that likes a rod heavier out front. I personally feel more comfortable with a rod thats a little heavier in the butt. The few times that I've been able to fish a Dobyns and a Powell side by side, the Dobyns seemed like the better rod to me. They just felt like a more refined rod. No worries. Just a friendly conversation

Dobyns vs Powell
One thing you need to remember David is that your balance preference may be different than the next persons. If you're going to tell him not to make a factual statement, you probably shouldn't do the same. Some people may like a rod that balances right on the seat. Some may prefer a rod that is a little bit butt heavy or tip heavy. All that matters is your comfort level with the tool in your hands. This is why we, as anglers, have such a broad range of products to choose from. Everybody has their certain likes and dislikes, whether it's a rod, reel, or lure.

I don't have SI on my freshwater rig, I can't justify putting one on a Jon. I've got one on my saltwater boat and it's scary. I've been in bass boats with guys that have SI, just amazing. It really is scary what you can see with them. I can read a 2D unit pretty darn good. I've never had a problem finding fish. With the new electronics, it's almost to the point where you can pick the size of the fish you want to catch. Why fish in a school of small fish if you can motor around and find a school of larger fish just by looking at the screen. If you search around on the web, some of the images that people have posted are just astounding. The depth and clarity you can get once you tune the unit right is absolutely ridiculous.

No, those are his oysters. Keri took them from him when they got married and put them in there for safe keeping and to remind him who's boss. Ouch. Low Blow right there. Lol

flippin rod
Pinnacles new Perfecta series of rods are right at the 150 mark. Pretty darn good rods for the money. If you can spend an extra 30 bucks, the Crucial flippin sticks are fantastic rods.

If I'm ever forced to resort to theft to get by, I know what I'm looking for now. I never realized how much that stuff was worth. Yeesh.

I've had the same can of coconut milk that you have sitting in my fridge for like a month now. I need to do something with it...
