  1. Xcailur xr50 in ghost color
  2. I love LFT baits. I have lots of luck with just about all of them especially the hyper freak. The hyper worm is good. Love the 8" hyper lizard. The worm as posted above should be tx rigged with a 4/0 hook, but is also killer weightless and fished like a fluke or slug go. They do seem to have a tremendous amount of garlic. They will stink up a room quick. Also look into Grande Bass baits if you are a fan of the garlic smell, they are just as strong scented and work very well.
  3. My dad just bought a 7'9 x hvy carrot stick for less than $100 from cabelas one of those places. It would work. If you can get past the color, ewwww!
  4. If your worried about throwing weightless senkos on a baitcast reel, you can be worry free. I use a Daiwa fuego b/c with 12lb fluoro, on a 7' mh fast falcon original rod. And it casts as far as I want it to with no problems. You just have to know how to set your brakes and spool tension knobs. It doesn't have to be an expensive reel either, I used to use a Daiwa exceler before I got the fuego. A weightless trick worm is just an adjustment on the knobs.
  5. Seems like a gimmick so no I have never used them.
  6. Down here in S.E. Texas all the colors in need for plastics are wat/red, green pumpkin, bama bug, red bug and blk/blue. Those colors pretty much cover my needs for water clarity. For hard baits most of the time I go for natural shad patterns. But sometimes chartruese is necessary. Spinner baits there are 3 for me. white/chartruese,black, and a stanley color called golden bream or golden shiner I forget.
  7. I agree with RW's list with one exception. Why do you need a spinning rod? I fish with 12 setups and not a single one is spinning gear. I can drop shot and shakey head fish with a baitcaster with 10lb fluoro all day. All of my plastics are fine with a 7'mh fast casting rod, light lures like Bandit 100 and 200, tiny torpedo, and baits of that size work perfect for me on a med fast 7' rod and a daiwa tierra reel. Spooled with the correct line and brakes set accordingly.
  8. Good rods, love the handles. Half cork half eva foam. Sucks that you have to spend $100 though. Here recently academy stores had the "rod riot" and those rods were being sold for $69. But I would still pay $100 and be happy.
  9. Sorry, I'm bored to tears. My top 5 flippin baits in order. 1.Gambler ugly otter (florida five o) 2.Lake Fork hyper freak (bama bug) 3.Big Bite Baits fighting frog (tilapia) 4. Big Bite Baits yo mama (wat/red) 5.Ragetail space monkey (black/blue). Let's hear what you guy's are.
  10. Catt, please look at N 31.24321 W 93.69516 on acme mapper. I believe this a a hump off of a point at the end of Sandy creek. Is this a spot I should try? Also I haven't been to that area in a while, and was wondering about the grass. Is it thick in that area? Going on Monday, and wanting to do some grass punching. Thanks.
  11. They make a fine flippin bait as well.
  12. I was looking at the icast videos on TW and saw one of Jeff Kreit showing the new "flying squirrel". It looks like an awesome bait and I can't wait for it to come out. It's basically two tails off of the squirrel tail worm put on a brush hog body. Check it out.
  13. I think they are are fly fishing rod company that started making casting rods. They look nice, has anyone used them?
  14. I have a friend who designs websites for local businesses. She does one for academy ( I believe),and she told me that as of Jan 2011 academy will be selling items on line. For those who are interested. It was brought up because she had to inform a woman in W. Virginia she won a $5,000 gift card. I asked if W.Virginia even had academy stores. She said no but online sales are in the near future.
  15. I can't tell from the pics, are any of those shrimp glow with chartruese tail. That is an awesome color for reds and specks down here.
  16. Not from La. but next month I hope to go fish at a place called bigwoods.I believe it's outside of Vinton. Any of ya'll fish it? I have a buddy who is a member and I'm going as a guest. bigwoodsfishandgame.com
  17. Use a Manns dragin worm as a spinnerbait trailer.
  18. Lucky 13, Devils Horse, Manns Jelly worms and last but definatley NOT least, Creme Scoundrel
  19. 1 oz tungsten weight pegged with bobber stop, gambler KO hangover skirt (blk/blue), gambler flippin hook, Any small plastic. Color does not have to match the skirt. I love the GYCB kreature with the arms pinched off. Also the BPS flippin craws.
  20. 1.Big Bite Baits 2.Grande Bass 3.BPS (12" squirmin worms, tube darts, crack craws, and flippin craws) 4. Lake Fork Tackle
  21. I use them. They work just fine. I can't remember the price but I think they are about a buck cheaper then the others. Or maybe the same price but you get 1 more weight.
  22. For a BIG c rig I have to go with a 12" Manns Jelly worm(black grape or wat/red). For a light c rig I love a Grande Bass Mutant(trophy hunter). Why? Because they both work.
  23. What are the benefits of micro guides? What do they do that is making rod builders put them on instead of regular sized guides?
