  1. Hey Catt, on the 18th(sat) im launching at my usual launch site Willow Oak. I have 4 spots that I can't leave that lake without fishing. Other than that I am open for suggestions. BTW I would like to get out of the six mile/willow oak area. Anything would be helpful. Just a few and if you do make some references can I get them to match my hook n line?
  2. Chances are if I have gone for hours without a bite, I have already thrown everything I own. I need to either go deeper or just go home and throw some horseshoes until it cools off.
  3. This past Friday I had a buddy at Toledo Bend, Who has a spot(21'deep hole) at Six Mile just off of the boat lane (looks like the middle) he pulled up one 10 three 6's and two or three 5's. That is a heavily travelled boat lane too. But it was 21' deep.
  4. Stock up, it certainly would not hurt. I would buy every x rap he has.
  5. Thanks a lot. Now I have an even harder choice I need to make. I have been at a standstill about the Allstar crankin rod and the American Rodsmith. Now you go and throw that one in the mix, I will never make a decision.

Use it as a search bait then follow behind it with a baby torpedo or devils horse. I throw a buzzbait to make a lot of noise and get the fishes attention . Then with the other prop baits I will usually get the hook up.
  7. I signed up for a drawing to win a 2 or 3 day fishing trip to this lake. I know I will not win, but is this lake any good? Any other info would be nice. Thank you in advance.
  8. launch in darkness, on my spot and casting at daybreak.
  9. I have used the midnight special with success. But I also have caught a lot on the ones off of the $.99 rack at walmart. I just recently(yesterday) picked up a HART blackheart spinner. It looks really good and I can't wait to use it.
  10. What is the water temp if you are catching them on top all day? I tried a few weeks ago and it was already almost 88 deg water temp in 13' of water at around 7am. That's deep crankin and c rigging time for me.
  11. I always fish with a license. I wish i could get away with just spending $20 on it. I have to get the $45 dollar all water license. I live too close to good red and speck fishing in the Gulf of mex not to do both types of fishing. This past weekend at one of our parks down here, standing at the boat launch, with a clipboard and measuring stick in hand, was a guy from Tex park and wildlife checking every livewell and icechest that came out of the water. I see them more around saltwater than fresh. But they will bust your A$$ for license and limits around here.
  12. DO NOT give up on the Yo mama. I use all of the same Big Bites Baits as you and they all work very well. If you can. Get your hands on some fighting frogs by them. And the Kreit tail lizards 8".
  13. Im not saying it is not good, but I just don't get it. It's just a straight tailed worm on a jig head? What is the special thing about it? What does it do? Please infom me. Does it glide away from you or glide under docks?
  14. Ok I gonna admit it. I have been fishing for about 25 years now and I have never fished a jitterbug. How do you do it? chug it or pop it?
  15. Dude a slug go is killer. I personally will fish it before I will a fluke. The only downside to them is the lack of colors. they have the basics, but I personally would like to see a zoom type color selection. Do not know if it really matters to the fish but I bet they would sell more. They are so versitile it is ridiculous. Weightless Tx rigged is my preffered.Fish it from top to bottom.
  16. Not a thing in the world wrong with Big Game, you get a ton of it at a good price that's all I used to use. But have moved on to Sufix Siege. The only reason I would use flouro is for cranks. For plastics, topwaters, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, and my jigging needs Sufix gets it done for me.
  17. It seems to me that the only thing braid would be good for is Flipping jigs in really heavy cover and really thick grass to haul the pigs out. And I guess for frogs, but I no longer fish frogs so I have no need for it.
  18. First it would be a spinnerbait all around the ridge. Then it would be a pegged Tx rigged Wave Tiki Lobster for the grass mats, the ridge and around the stick ups. Then to the deeper water with DD22's, Bomber fat free shads and c rigged 10" + worms.
  19. My worst on the water habit is Copenhagen. It is the only time I use the stuff. I don't even know why I do it. My other one is not taking the time to eat. I always bring sandwiches and beef jerky but I never eat any of it. I never stop fishing long enough.
  20. Honestly guys I am Fishing Rayburn for the first time at night pretty soon. Usually in the pond I fish at night i have a black popper(BPS) that works ok, but I need the top notch. Which is the best. Buzzbait,Propbait, popper, or walk the dog style?
  21. 1. Tx rigged plastic 2. Summer C rigged 10" worm,Winter Rapala X rap,Fall Tx rigged 10'worm, Spring Xcalibur xr50 (rayburn red) T Bend. Rat l Trap (Annes tackle special color Brown Eye Shad) on Rayburn
  22. I was under the impression that when it gets hot, big bass always retreat back to deep water. A place where 99%(schooling is my exception) of the time topwaters will be useless. With that being said are the bass in the north different than the ones we have here in southeast Tx? Do they have a different pattern for when it heats up outside? From my expeirience if they do not go back to deep water, they hide under thick grass mats. Ones that you either punch through with a 3/4 or heavier jig or get lucky and find a hole. I am not taking anything away from topwater at all ( i missed the biggest bass of my life on a torpedo) but I think fish up north do the same thing they do down here. Maybe it is a regional thing though. You guys may have different grass or something.
  23. I do fine using 20 mono for my swimbaits and jig needs. And that is the heaviest that I use. everything else is 10,12 or 14.
  24. Get a Revo sx and spend the rest at ***, It also wouldnt hurt to get a lot of good quality line.
  25. Daiwa Exceler I own 3 and love them all.
