If you are using cranks and spinners , that 50 # line is way too much. Down size to 14 or 20 lb. braid or go to a good flourocarbon.

Spinning rigs usually are used for finess fishing when you want to down size your presentation. I use spinning out fits for all of my fishing , but that's just me.

mktrout , have you ever fished the supreme ? Is this just your personal opinion based just on handling it in the store ? To make a qualified statement like that , I believe you would have to use it over a period of time. You could be right , it might be a piece of crap. I'll let you know after I use it for a few months.

It's comparable to a 1500 or 2000 reel. (smaller reel)

I have the spinning version. All I can say is I don't use it much. Enough said.

I just bought the 8038 MG. It'll be a few weeks before I get to try it out though. It sounds like it might be a good reel with the sealed drag but only time will tell.
