You should always keep an open mind about fishing , try differant techniques and baits , just remember what works for you might not work for someone else and vice-versa.

All the small ponds I fish hit the heck out of spinner baits. They do like to hug the bank.

There are differant thought patterns on the visibility of braid affecting the number of fish you catch. My opinion is , using braid with cranks , spinners , jerk baits , have no adverse affect on fish hitting your lure.

Like RW said start harvesting the smaller bass out and see what the results will be in a couple years.

Cabelas sells a muskie cradle by Frabill. You slip it under the muskie when you get it to the boat and never have to take it out of the water if you don't want to. Go to cabelas on line store and read about it yourself. www.cabelas.com

The rod and reel you refer to in your original post would not be a good starter outfit because the reel is too heavy and the rod is a two piece. If you are really serious about fishing , get a quality set-up The st. croix premier rod is an excellant rod to start out with at a cost of 90.00 . 6'6"----6-12 lb. line--- 1/4 to 5/8 ounce lures. A shimano saraha 2500 spinning reel at a cost of 59.95 . 9.7 ounces----140 yards of eight lb. line. Super braid line with a rating of 30 lbs.(8lb. diameter ). Power pro , fire line are some good braids. Now I know you said under 100.00 but if you can save up the money for this set up (170.00) , you will have a quality out-fit. It's up tp you.
