BACK FROM ICAST-
I am glad to hear that you had a great time Bobby. I am also glad taht you were getting so many write-ups about your stuff. That is sad about the prop. I hope they dropped in on thier foot. Sorry I could not make it down there. I ended up in Montana and North Dakota instead. The scenery there blew me away.

What's the difference?
Around where I am at, I have had very little success with nightcrawlers. I usually end up getting rid of most of them. Wigglers, or pan-fish worms (probably the same thing) are a different story. They are much smaller and the name (wigglers) says it all about them. Brim, catfish, crappie gobble them up but for some reason hardly anyone carries them here. Wally world only carries the canadian nightcrawlers.

Unusual catches on artificials?
A little over a week ago I was fishing at a pond back in the woods. I threw in a Manns topwater frog and looked away for second to close my tackle box. I had not locked the reel yet and the line started going out like crazy. I looked out to the pond and my line was not there, instead it was going up. A hawk had taken my frog and was flying away with it. It dropped the frog into a pine tree on the other side of the pond. Due to the weedless design of the frogs, I got the bait back. I am glad that the bird did not get stung by the hook.

Any advice for fishing for Walleye
Thank you for the advice guys. I really do appreciate it. I will probably focus on mainly bass, pan fish and walleye and maybe some catfish. I have never caught a walleye before so I am pretty stoked about trying to catch one. I am not looking to keep any, just to have some fun.

visiting Wibaux, Montana...fishing advice needed.
Thanks for the help and advice. :'( I know that there are probably not a lot of people that fish out there that are active on this forums but I at least expected some kind of advice from somebody. It is cool though. I will tough it out and fish it anyways.

Do You Think Catching a Big Bass is Luck?
IMO, I think that a mass majority of it is skill. Lots of practice makes for a better presentation that will catch the big fish's attention. If you have the skill, and knowhow, to make the bait you are fishing with look, or act like something that is enticing, you then have a much greater chance catching that big fish. One also has to have some knowledge of what to look for to be able to catch that fish; examples: structure, water temperature, how to fish the type of water (clear, muddy, dingy) and what type of feeder fish are in that particular water. I also think that there is luck involved with the big fish being there and wanting what ever type of bait you are throwing at that time. JB

How often......
Only once in 35 years. It was on a public lake that rented boats in Alabama. I have never even seen an officer anywhere else I have fished. Just the local police department checking if people lived in the subdivision that had the private lake they were fishing in. LOL, many of them know me by name at the one I fish.

How long before bass relate to new cover?
If this is Weiss Lake water then I am guessing that there should be a lot of grass near the structure. Based on that lake, I also do not think it will be long before you find fish around it. I have caught bass near nothing but a 5 foot stick stuck in the lake there. From what you have described, that will be a great place to fish before too long.

Hawaii Action
Those are some great fish Stan. I am glad you had a good day fishing. I dream of the day that I can get far enough down south to catch a good sized peacock bass. That Red Devil looks cool. I have never seen one before. Thanks for the pics.

visiting Wibaux, Montana...fishing advice needed.
Hey guys, I am going to be visiting Wibaux, Montana the week after the 4th of July. I plan on fishing as much as I can while I am there but...I do not know what fish are common up there and how to fish for them. I am used to fishing in the southeast. Can any of you please give me some information, tips, tricks, lures and setups to use, and things not to do while I am there? Thanks, JB

Caught This While Bass Fishing
This is a Shiner Perch: I believe that the fish you caught is a White Perch. Very close though other than the yellow stripes.

another successful attempt at a new technique
Good job cyph3r. I am glad to hear that you are catching some big ones. I think the fish did just what you said, I think it was watching it, wondering what it was until it moved and bam! Good going. Can't wait to see the pic.

What are your biggest fish of the year so far?

NEVER been so frustrated
I agree that the rod should not be a big issue. I fish with 3/0 and 4/0 hooks most of the time and I have not had big issues with hooksets. Try a 3/0 or an offset "plus" hook (the point is not aimed at the top of the hook). Make sure that your hooks are sharp and try to yank that fish out of the water when you set that hook. Also, I would try to not let the line go slack wit the fish. Keep pressure on the fish and try to keep your rod tip down low to help keep the fish in the water and not jumping and throwing your bait. It sounds like your stuff is fine for the worms. Keep at it and you will ge the hang of it.

Old lure question - Midgerena (probably spelling it wrong)
I do not know what it is called but I saw this in the forums. From what you described it looks similar. Was this it? Just asking so that a picture can be put with the bait that you are asking about. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1245122491
