  1. Sorry mods....wrong section
  2. I was taking the PSAT Math Test today, and I came across a question I couldn't help laughing about. Here's the question: What fraction comes in between 1/2 and 3/4? a. 5/16 b. 3/8 c. 5/8 d. 7/8 I automatically started thinking about jigs ;D I couldn't help laughing out loud By the way, the answer is 5/8
  3. Congrats!
  4. Dang! Heckuva fish! Looks a lot bigger than 6 pounds
  5. Alright thanks guys! I'll get the 705. Ahh man I'm so pumped for this new rod!!!
  6. You need to get a Shimano. Once you buy a Shimano, you'll never buy another brand. Dead serious.
  7. I'm about to get a Powell, either the 704c (Heavy), or the 705c (Mag-Heavy). What is the difference? I think I would like the 704 better, but I just want to make sure. Is the Mag-Heavy a completely different rod? This rod will be used for fishing 3/8-1/2 oz. jigs in and around cover. Thanks!
  8. My brother had a Black Max, and I hated it. It's just not a good reel. Period. Save up a little more and get a Citica 200e. Fantastic reel.

Right now I'm rockin' Calcuttas baby ;D $20!
  10. Yeah baby, that's the best and easiest way to catch smallies. Definitely use this technique!
  11. Forgot to mention, the undercuts on the rocks often times will be where the bruisers hang out. Just drop the rig right in front of the undercuts and let the current drift it. Also, use a 6' Medium action spinning rod and 8 pound line. That makes it sooo much more fun.
  12. With all due respect to the people that have responded, nothing will work better for smallies than a live river minnow. Get a seine net and take the time to catch the minnows yourself, then move up to the dam. Cast DIRECTLY INTO the raging current with the minnow and a small split shot. Reel in to keep the line semi-taught. Honestly, this is a killer way to get 'em. Plus you might hook into something like this: http://s709.photobucket.com/albums/ww96/Fat-G-2009/?action=view&current=Smallietrip018.jpg
  13. What's your biggest fish of the year so far? Post a picture and tell the story behind it! Here's mine: http://s709.photobucket.com/albums/ww96/Fat-G-2009/?action=view&current=NewPB029.jpg The story: Cold, rainy day, about 50 degrees. I was pitching a jig around an old fallen tree, not really paying attention, and this baby hit. When I looked for my line, it was rapidly swimming away, so I reeled up and set the hook, but I was snagged. Wait! Snags don't swim!
  14. That's a nice bass right there. 4.5 pounds.
  15. I'm about to get a Powell 704c, and I've heard they are fantastic rods. Definitely get the Curado!
  16. That's a real nice bass. Big fish tip of the day: Hold the fish out so your arm(s) are bent only a little bit, and the fish won't be so dwarfed by your body. Helluva fish though.
  17. Yeah, I think it's official. I'm gonna get the Powell!
  18. Although now the Powell Max 7' Heavy EF is lookin' mighty sexy
  19. I've heard this is almost a parabolic rod. I'm looking at the 7' Heavy for jigs and such, but I want a rod with a good strong backbone. Has anyone ised the 7' Heavy model? Is it really a flimsy rod?
  20. I want to fish artificials and target big fish. 8-) Haha totally understand. Plastics and jigs have been my number one big fish producers.
  21. That last picture is awesome. Nice, beautiful fish.
  22. Doritos w/ sour cream, Cheez-its, Pizza, Cheeseburgers, Pasta, Chips and Salsa..... everything of course with hot sauce! All this and I can still throw a football 60 yards, and a baseball a looooooong way ;D
