Anyone ever injure themselves fishing?
I was tying on a swim bait, I forget the brand. Its the type of swim bait with the big hook sticking out of its back? Anyway, I got to my favorite spot and I was tying it on and I slipped while typing it and I sliced my thumb open. I was concerned I was going to need stitches and I didn't have any band aids. I walked all the way back to where I was parked, almost a mile, and got in my car and got home and cleaned up. I was there for 10 minutes, caught no fish, and had a nice little gouge in my thumb for a while. Fun day.

First Tourney Results
Well, its good news! We took first place at the Bass World Sports Division 14 tournament today...Total weight 12.25, would have been 13.25 but we got a 1lb penalty because our biggest fish was tounge hooked and sadly it expired, but we still took first place. The funny thing was we were the only alluminum boat on the water, the rest were really nice bass boats. This was my first tournament and my first tournament win. It feels so great to win the plaque and money and we are going to have a picture on BWSTA.com at some point. If its posted I'll link it...I'll be the shortest one in the middle lol...can't wait till its posted! I feel so honored to have won today! I should also add, I won 2nd place biggest bass 3.09 pounds

albino gator lure ( short video)
I agree with the above post, I would pay 25 for a lure like that just because of how unique it is...this may be the way you make a fortune my friend and I think you should keep making them. Just for giggles, it kind of looked like a massive sperm swimming around....thank goodness for a little paint.

Fat and Flat Cranks

baby gators?
Holy cow! Great painting and construction! If you catch anything on it I'm sure we'll all want to see it, that's incredible. PS: I would get a patent on that immediately...And being totally serious, even if it didn't produce like many other lures, it would sell because of its uniqueness and even it novelty value....that's an incredible looking product and I would patent it or trademark it soon....

Who's fishing Pink??
I think its bizzare what fish will bite on....I've never had any lucky with Pink, but I wacky-rigged a 5" Tiki-Stik Swirl Sweet Potato Pie color, and I never thought in a million years would a fish take a wierd looking color pattern like that...but lo and behold lol, tight lines proved me wrong....i'll have to try pink now...

Golf course fishing
You'd be surprised lol...The bass don't get disturbed all of that often so they aren't really spooky about what we throw....In fact it was only the 3rd time I had used senkos but I have had immense luck with them at this particular pond. You should make a trip up here lol, we have nothing else to offer except for caves and a drive in...so fishing is about all I can do to keep sane.

Golf course fishing
I live in a little town called Maquoketa, Iowa...We have a country club that I fish on about 3 days a week if I can. My family are members and I used to work at the Club, so I know the groundskeeper. He allows me to fish there, but I'm a member too and I don't golf so they really can't kick me out lol. Its catch and release only, so its always stocked. I guess I went there because the guy who taught me everything I know took me there and there are plenty of really great bass. I caught 15 in one hour off of Senkos earlier in the week. Its a lot of fun....not worth coming to this little town for though lol.

Hook slid off???
Okay, so yesterday I took my twin brother fishing at the local country club pond and I was letting him use my hooks and senkos. I've always used a Palomar to tie everything thing on and i used this knot to tie on the octopus circle hooks....Well, my brother ended up getting a HUGE bite and it took the hook with the senko...i should mention that i tied a double Palomar this time, when the fish took it.....Its never failed me, but this time it did....Any suggestions for remedying this problem? I've always thought the palomar was a great knot....Also we are using 8# test to do our fishing....thanks in advance

Losing Senkos...
So I will be honest, I am not rich enough to be losing senkos like i am. Yesterday I got to experience the magic that Senkos ensue and i ended up catching like 15 fish in a matter of an hour or so, this was extremely rewarding to me! Unfortunately, just about everytime i would hook up with a fish i would lose my senko in the process...Not to them swallowing it either...They just fall of the line or the fish would jump and it would fly right off. I only got to use the same senko twice and this happened about 3 times...all of the other catches resulted in me losing a senko....Any tips on keeping the Senko from flying off the line, or otherwise just getting lost? At 7 dollars a bag i can't afford this crazy great plastic for very long lol...Please help me. PS: I am wacky rigging it, just in case you were going to ask. And I'm using a Octopus Circle hook. size 2/0

Bassin and Beer
If you are a casual "hook and worm" fisherman i think that drinking has its place because there are so many devices that help you detect a strike, making concentration almost futile. But fishing methods that require attention, concentration and finesse should not be impaired because you need a beer....then again, i am only 18 so i don't do a lot of drinking anyway, but this is my opinion

Who makes the Gander Mountain Guide Series Rods and the Bass Pro Rods?
Stereotype much? Lol, just kidding of course. I agree with what you said about taking pride in work though, they are feeding their familes and they are going to do a good job or another person who is waiting in line could scoop up the job in an instant. I just bought a Gander Mtn. brand rod AND reel, and so far i am loving it lol. its my first baitcaster though, i've only been fishing for about two years now, not even, and i'm still learning. My GM brand rod and reel is bringing in fish though! So i've no complaints.

Summer Fishing Hiatus -- who takes them?
I never fish past 11 or noon...Mid day fishing just seems to be so slow, and i know, god forbid, that i could be using my time more constructively than waiting for a bite i know isnt going to happen. So i just stop back at the honey hole around 3 or 4pm.

I'm all kinds of backwards
Great post Kikstand, i agree with what you said. Lesson learned here, but i'm going to keep it and just learn to live with it. I'm starting to get used to casting with my right and just switching hands to reel. But if i can learn to cast with my left hand that'd be even better. First i need to get used to using a baitcaster lol, i'm still not very good at it. I think i put too much line on becuase the line always gets stuck under the other line on the spool. I'm still learning all of this, but someday i'll be as wise as all of you. here's hoping

I'm all kinds of backwards
Super glad to hear i'm not some kinda mutant fisherman. I would love to be able to cast and hold my baitcaster in my right hand and retrieve with my left. I'm thinking about taking it back but i've already brought in 4 fish with it so i don't want to return a product if its not necessary. I just hate holding the reel in my left hand becuase i can't cast left handed and i want it all to feel fluent. I'm going to try and trade my current reel to someone so i can get a left-handed retrieving model. Thanks for the input, i'm still pretty new to fishing and i'm just learning my place so any of your feedback is completely welcomed. Time to trade!

I'm all kinds of backwards
How often is it that a right-handed lad like myself, is actually a left-handed fisherman? See i bought this Shimano reel sometime, a spin-cast, and i could not get used to reeling with my right hand. For me it feels so ungodly uncomfortable, so i flipped the reel on the left. Well i made the mistake of not thining about this when i bought my new baitcaster. Its incredibly uncomfortable to reel with my right hand becuase i cannot cast with my left, so i am constantly switching hands. how common is this? Any other backwards people here? Also, is there a model or make of baitcaster that is interchangeable? Thanks Cody (Scruffy)

Super Aggressive Fish
I wouldn't fish for anything else... Indeed!

Do you think this fish will die?
Good addition. I concur, I often find that cutting the hook all together is the best way of remedying this problem. Although, I heard that just cutting the line is okay becuase 9/10 times they'll still feed with no problems. But cutting the hook is better. In addition, if you hook YOURSELF you could use that neat tool. So its a great product.

My first big bass
Beautiful! Keep up the good work.

Tell me how big you guys think she is?
Just shy of 6.5lbs? Great sized fish though, I wish the pic were bigger though. Looks like a beauty though!
