  1. Good input. I'm trying to piece this all together. Another odd thing tonight when I went to fish it, the bite stopped completley. I got ZERO bites. I did see something quite large in the water tho. Couldnt see from the shore but it is possible it was a big grass carp. IDK. Cant see it. It was acting like a veg head tho. circles and constant movement.
  2. All I throw are big hogs, anaconda's, and tried the space monkey last night. They loved it. All the bass I catch look like healthy little guys. Nice color and normal girth. I think there may be something going on in here. I saw a HUGE fish of unknown species with fins out of water moving in what looked like slow circles. There are LOADS of bass in there, I just cant seem to get a bite or locate anything over 1 lb. Even on my big baits. I will post some pics of what these little guys look like maybe tonight. I think I am going to go a bit earlier and see how the day bite is.
  3. Fished it again today. 9 bass all under 1lb. :'( What else is odd is that the bite dies down to zero right before dark. I am no bass behavioral expert but I am think they do this cuz the bigger fish come out of all those deep grass beds to feed at night? I have no problem fishing at night. We will just have to see. Time will tell.
  4. 45 min sesh. 7 bass. Total of 7 lbs. :-[
  5. I just go up to my friends, hold my hand out and say "Smell That...". And sandpaper thumbs.
  6. FISHED IT!!! Caught 7 in 45 min but all under 1lb. I am hoping this is not a pond full of dinks an no big ones.... :-/
  7. What do ya think? Big ones too??? This is my journey. I recently moved and was supprised when a large pond was a small walk away. I will be updating every time I go out! Watch as the seasons change and sizes change. A blog if you will, of each fishing trip with tackle, gear, and fish caught on them. Pics of all the goings on from my 3 or 4 fishing sessions a week. I think this could add some amazing first hand knowledge of going about learning a new body of water and learning the do's and dont's first hand. I'm sure this could help out alot of people. Thought you'd like to come fishing with me Day 1, Finally got around to fishing the new pond by my place and pulled some numbers. The thing is LOADED with small bass. Caught like 7 bass in 45 min. Problem is, is they were all under 1lb. Kinda a bummer but fun none the less. I am just hoping there are some big ones in there too. It scares me to think that 1blers is all I am going to catch out here. Top water bite was on fire. So was slow rolling plastic hogs and lizards. Anyways, anyone experience similar conditions? Small bass pond? Or do you think I need to just keep fishing it and hope for the big ones... Here is the Pond...
  8. Thanks for all the input guys. Pretty much said what I was going to try. Tops in the am and night time and plastic jerk baits. I'm also gonna try my technique which has never failed me. Slow rolling soft plastics. ALWAYS pulls numbers. Thanks again for the input. I will keep you guys updated when I finally get to fish it. Hell, I may take a trip over there this week and fire at it for awhile. 8-)
  9. OOH, found a few. http://www.rapala.14e1.com/about/wallpapers.cfm I really like the scenic ones.
  10. I cant for the life of me find any good bass or fresh water fishing wallpapers. Looking for very nice ones being I am using an Macbook Pro LED screen. Know of any sites? :-/
  11. Bigger presentations. I upsized ALL my soft plastics and jigs. The only thing that changed was I caught the same number of fish, but more often than not, bigger bass. This change up landed me my first double digit fish seen in my avatar. Big jig with the super big brush hog as a trailer.
  12. I like fishing ponds in the evening. By myself. I like fishing big lakes with friends out on a boat.
  13. Moving in 2 weeks. This pond is right next to me. Went to check it out after doing my lease and was PLEASANTLY SUPRISED! Looks over 10ft deep in areas. Breaks in grass and spotted many brim and a 3lb bass on a bed! WOOO! I am going to be walking this pond back and fishing it. What would you guys throw and how would you fish the heavy grass down below. Sorry bout the $hitty iPhone pics... Here she is! :D :D :D
  14. Large pond with fountain. Looks like it may hold some fish. Looks 500ft across and 2000 feet in length. No underwater structure "that I know of" Mainly grass bank all the way around. Orldando. What would you throw? I am thinking of just tossing out some weightless plastic creature baits and slow reeling them back to shore. What would you do. Reason I'm asking is I used to live at a place that had a pond/lake with a fountain and that little thing harvested some BASS! I am moving and there is a pond right next to my place.
  15. Kinda like this... No, really, I was screaming and holding it over my head like a trophy. It was one of the most gratifying moments I have ever had.
  16. I usual do 2 over 4lbs on a 3 hour evening trip on big anacondas, big brush hogs, and jigs. Florida
  17. I love to drink while fishing. We still keep it responsible, quiet, and fun. My buddies hate when I drink cuz I narate everything I do like it's my own fishing show. LOL. They just sit there and listen to me go with a huge smile on their face hahaha.
  18. Thats a muddy. Nasty little things but fun to catch. I caught one 6lbs on a gold crank bait once.
  19. This is my method of finding spots as well. I use google map/satellite.
  20. This is all I do. I swim my soft plastics, weightless. I cast right next to cover or shore, let it drop for like 3 to 5 seconds, then slow roll it for about 5 feet then burn it back to me and cast again. I always get the bite right when I start to retreive. The bass imo, see it hit the water, sparks up their attention, then as soon as it starts swimming away they slam it. The only baits that I finesse or "work" on the bottom are jigs. All my soft platics are casted out to cover or shore then reeled back to me in around 5-10 feet. If I dont get a hit close to when I start to retreive, then I try again.
  21. SMOOON... Fish the drop offs with jigs n trailers and weighted worms man. Throw it on the shelf and work it on the bottom towards the boat as the drop off gets deeper. Yur missin some big fish by not us'in a jig. !0 lbs man... on the jig /w trailer. btw... I am moving outta here by the end of september so we need to do it up on the canoe one more time. Hopefully I move to a place with a lake or at least private ponds in a neighborhood. I'm down for some pond shore fishin like the old days. 8-)
  22. It swam away when I got closer. Usually by the time I see them and determine... "Oh &$#* thats a big girl..." they see me and move away.
  23. Is the adjustment by bait, weight of bait or fishing condition? Sorry for the ultra-specifics but this is the springboard answer. Thanks Dial it in with a "highly used" bait. Favorite worm or whatever. Once you fine tune your reel for that specific bait, anything similar weight or heavier should work just fine. Only thing would be a lighter bait than you normaly use. THEN you would need to drop the spool tension down just a bit.
  24. I get Deer Flies that swarm me and bite me all to hell. Those suckers draw blood. And you dont feel em on you till it's too late. I use Deep Woods Sportsman. The deet I guess, makes your skin feel really warm but it's better than getting destroyed by deer flies.
