What tackle "means the most" to you and why....
Rat-L-Traps, the darn things catch fish anytime of the year, spring/summer/fall/winter, they are easy and fun to use and you can fish them on almost any combo. Plastics (black) would be a very close second.

Winter Bass in Texas
Freezing this morning, 26 degrees, wind chill 17 degrees. There still taking the Rat-L-Traps. Caught several between 6:30-7:30am. I could only take 1 hour in these temps. The water was freezing on the line and lure when I was taking the fish off the lure.

That is a sweet inventory RW, those smallies dont have a prayer against that gear. What can I say Lucky Craft Man, I am speechless over that G Loomis lineup ! I don't guess it's even worth asking if you have ever considered a Steez rod.

Real men can do pink! That reel is beautiful, but a "collectors item" only. ;D ;D ;D Jewels and/or diamonds on the handle would look really good and add more flash and bling. 8-) Com'on RW I know you've got a stella and some other goodies ! Lets see'em !

G Loomis Rods
When you say, "How good are they? Are they worth it", you need to specify what level of Loomis rods. GLX, IMX, GL3, etc... The GLX is the cadillac, one of the best rods you will ever fish with except for maybe a steez rod and that is simply a matter of preference. I like and own both. The IMX is a great rod for the money, Ive only fished with one once and it is compared to a GLX like a buick campared to a cadillac. The other types GL3, etc... are probably ok, never fished them but I think others will tell you there might be better value in that price range with other rods. The Loomis warranty is second to none, if the rod ever breaks due to a flaw they will replace it, just send the rod & $20 to Loomis and they will send you a new rod. If you break the rod, for example I grabbed the tip of one of my GLX's and snapped it off. I used their "Xpeditor" service and sent the rod & $65 to Loomis. I received a NEW rod in 2 days. I could have paid $50 and received a new rod in a week. No questions asked. If you buy a G Loomis rod (GLX or IMX) I don't think you will ever regret it.

A little something for the ladies. My wife would probably try fishing if I got her one of those. Hey Stasher1, those are some clean and well organized setups.

core vs pixy?
When you see my Steez reels forsale you will know that I have died. I think Charlton Heston said it best, "From My Cold Dead Hand".

BPS Pro Qualifier Baitcast Reel - New Ratios Available
The 7.x & 6.x is $79 online and thats a great deal, that reel is very smooth. Feel like a much more expensive reel. I bought one back in the summer for my son to learn on, its a great reel, the dual braking system is great for learning, with both braking systems set to the max it is almost impossible to backlash.

core vs pixy?
I sold my Core 100 a few days ago and thought I had my 6' GLX rod sold but buyer backed out. I only have a G.Loomis CR723 GLX 6' MedHvy rod($230 shipped).

core vs pixy?
If thats the case then get a Core 50 MG, it will cast lightweight plastics and lures as well as perform very well with lots of other tackle. If you like spinning gear, you might consider a mid to upscale spinning combo for weighless plastics. I recently purchased a spinning reel and rod just for that purpose.
-
core vs pixy?
I own the Core 50 MG, don't own a Pixy but from eveything I've read and/or heard, the pixy would probably be better for weightless plastics.

This thread was too soon. I have a custom rod ordered from Matt Davis at Otterods but it won't be ready till Feb cause we are still waiting on Gary Loomis/NFC to make their new top of the line "HM Next" rod blank. Ive selected a red marble reel seat and chrome components and to of the line fuji guides to go on the raw black matte rod blank. It should look awesome. Got a new core 50 mg for it to send Matt to balance the rod. Should be a sweet combo.

Have another Steez combo and Stella spinning reel on a GLX rod out in the truck but too lazy to go get'em. Plus my wife was really complaing about the tackle on the dinning room table so I had to quickly take the pics and get the gear off the table.

I'm not sure about posting gear pics, I got beat to death just listing gear in a signature line. As far as the cold, my fingers are still frozen from this morning, 33 degrees, wind chill was 28. I caught a small one on a rat-L-trap and a decent 2# on a black craw jig in 1' of water. I could'nt believe how much that fish was playing and splashing in the shallows in that those cold temps.
